Uh oh.. I never knew Aqua jet was that strong although I learned later that it was Banded. xP

Aqua Jet and the recoil damage took a lot out of Crobat. That's 77% of my life gone. Tim to switch.

6-6

Junior switched in Akatsuki Junior (lvl 100 Feraligatr ?).
Azumarill used Aqua Jet.
It's not very effective...
Akatsuki Junior lost 23% of its health.
Akatsuki Junior's leftovers restored its health a little!
Akatsuki Junior restored 6% of its health.

Yet again, I still didn't know it was banded and I was REALLY surprised at the amount of damage dealt to Gate.

Ok, after that DD, I was seriously expecting an OHKO but NO! It strikes back. Luckily it still fainted. That brings me to the lead. x)

Uxie's leftovers restored its health a little!
Uxie restored 6% of its health.

Yeah, I predicted an Overheat but I knew it wouldn't OHKO. Also, if I Calm Mind'd, then he would've KO'd me next turn so I went with a T-BOlt, killing his Magmortor. This brings us to a tie! ^^

4-4

The Blue Hedgehog switched in Heracross (lvl 100 Pinsir ?).
Heracross used X-Scissor.
It's super effective!
Uxie lost 53% of its health.

Why didn't I switch? Because all my other Poke's would've been killed off the scene or I needed them for later. Either way, I HAD to sacrifice Uxie. So sad.. it was always my wall and sweeper combined. /tear. /cut.

Espejump used Psychic.
It doesn't affect Houndoom...
Espejump is hurt by poison!
Espejump lost 12% of its health.

Huhwah? He stole what? My Espy?

Anyways, back to the warstory. If your Fable was assumed to have died to Psychic, would you:
a) Leave it to die
b) Switch to something you know Psychic won't affect

I obviously went with the latter because it was the best option no?

3-3

Clefable used Rest.
Clefable fell asleep!
Clefable restored 92% of its health.

Band'd Aqua Jet pwns eh?

I did a 5 sec. calculation and saw that Fable would be able to survive the Aqua Jet with at least 5% remaining so that's why I went with a rest.

Sorry bro, you just got too greedy :D.

Lol yeah, true but still, Clefable's defenses are low so I had to put a lot of EVs onto Fable and therefore, leaving the SpDef quite low too. I just went up to 5 just incase.

Isn't hax only supposed to do 2x damages? I sometimes to receive 3x the actual damage and a couple of 4x. =\

The best Rain Dancing Omaster's Surf can do against my Fable at that time would only be 37-38ish %.

If I interpreted what I read in Battle Revolution right, a Critical Hit ignores stat changes.

Freakin hilarious. I like the way you dragged out the ending to give it a little suspense, but it was quite obvious what was going to happen as soon as you started doing it.

Oh yeah, I didn't notice that. xP But I did, however, find out that it wasn't Specs after the Hidden Power, lol.

No wonder. =/ I haven't read anything about that before but that makes a lot of sense I guess.

Here is exactly what is in the Battle Tutorial on Battle Revolution regarding Critical Hits:
Unexpected Effects of Critical Hits

The damage caused by Critical Hits is not influenced by any stat changes of your or your opponent's Pokemon

Critical Hits always cause twice the normal damage, even if a Pokemon's Defense or Sp.Def has been raised. In the same way, if your Pokemon's Attack or Sp.Atk are lower, the damage caused by this is not decreased.

Even if your opponent uses Reflect or Light Screen, the damage caused by a Critical Hit is not decreased.

If you remember these things, your Critical Hits will be more succesfsul and your win ratio for battles will increase.

quelt
09-30-2007, 08:03 AM
so basically what that is saying is that you could do 30 dd's and get a critical on an attack and wouldn't do insane amounts of damage?

Dark Void
09-30-2007, 08:56 AM
The reason your Ice Punch didn't OHKO Staraptor, as well as Waterfall doing 65% to Pinsir was because of Intimidate.

This battle was kinda meh. Your typing is pretty ghey to be honest. You add zorz to every word. It gets pretty annoying, and makes it a bad read.

Besides the fact that 30 Dragon Dances would be useless as only 6 of those would actually matter (7 since Gatr got Intimidated), that's exactly what I'm saying. Crtical Hits ignore stat modifiers.

Looks like I've been sigged again.Incorrect(Not the part about 30 DD's, the part about critical hits). Critical hits ignore negative atk stat changes on your part, and positive defence stages on your opponents part, but it still counts any + atk stages you have. So if you have 6 DD's and Crit, it will double the damage of the 6 DD'd attack. Whereas if you have -6 Atk from Intimidate or something and you crit, it will do 2x +0 atk.

Yes, again. Let's see...WildAce...Crown Axe...Lobbot...That's three other sigs I've been in that I can think of off the top of my head, and I think there was a few more.

The following was taken verbatim from The Battle Tutorial in Battle Revolution:

It says "any" stat changes are ignored, which should include positive and negative changes on both ends. Do you have anything to back up your claim?

09-30-2007, 07:19 PM
Experiance via Netabattle/Shoddy/WiFi. As I've never played Battle Revolutions, I wouldn't know how it works for that. However it would not make sense to ignore your own positive stat changes, because if you did you could easily crit and do less then a non-crit.

Lol. Nice read, but that kind of thing is expected in Shoddy. Some things you mentioned had obvious answers, like the Feraligatr having its Dragon Dance cancelled out by Intimidate.

Netbattle and Shoddy can't really be counted on since those are unofficial battle simulators, though your Wifi experience intrigues me. What kind of experiences do you mean?

I would assume Battle Revolution would treat Critical Hits the same as D/P would since it was made for D/P.

Things don't have to make sense. Try playng Yu-Gi-Oh. The rulings for one of the new cards that just came out, Zombie Master, contradicts just about every ruling ever made for Ignition and Targeting effects.

I mean things such as having +2 attack and critical hitting something, does 2x the +2 damage from my experience. Also from using Damage calculators, as you can tell when you're using them, critical hits ignore negative attack stat changes on your part, and positive def stages of your opponents, but not positive stat changes of your own, or negative defense changes of your opponents.

Oh, I do play Yugioh, and yes I agree Zombie Master's ruling makes absolutely no sense.

Hmm. Seems just like how the guide was with regards to breeding, except worse. This appears to be a direct contradiction to what is on Battle Revolution.

I'll see if I can find anything on Smogon. If not, I'll try and contact Nintendo or Gamefreak.

IIRC, what PBR stated was true back in days of RBY (and possibly GSC).
I distinctly remember this because when my Mewtwo used Psychic after 3 Amnesias, a CH did a lot less damage than a normal +6 Psychic.

Anyways, from what I've seen on Wi-Fi, a CH ignores all your opponent's +DEF boosts and all your -ATK boosts.
Furthermore, a CH does NOT ignore all your opponent's -DEF boosts and all your +ATK boosts.

Because hackers > Nintendo when it comes to gathering info?

From what I remember reading on Smogon, 1/8 (12.5%) is the normal CH ratio.
1/4 (25%) is the "high" CH ratio.

I believe last gen has a 6.25 ratio. And moves like Focus Energy are +1, raised it to 12.5%. High critical hit ratios are +2, 25% chance. But they might have changed it for D/P.
