They're doing the casting for GoF at the moment I believe.
Does anyone know who any of the new cast are? Photos would be better, as chances are with the students we've never heard of them.
I know Cho Chang has been cast, but I don't know a name or anything.
EDIT: Found out who Cho is. She's being played by a 16-year-old girl in Scotland called Katie Leung.
Fleur Delacour has been cast aswell. It's someone called Clémence Poésy.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40271000/jpg/_40271687_cecilethink.jpg
Viktor Krum is played by a Scottish guy, though I don't know who.
Robert Pattinson plays Cedric Deggory.
Ralph Fiennes is supposed to be playing Voldemort, though its not certain yet.
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/pix2/ralphfiennes010504_100x110.jpg
I've been rummaging through Google for a while now, and found nothing but dead links for images of Katie Leung (she's the first one I found out about- I got the other names from sites looking for her). So if anyone finds any images of Leung or Pattinson, or the identity of Krum, please please post.
Confirmed:
Brendan Gleeson - Mad-Eye Moody
Frances De La Tour - Madame Maxine
Roger Lloyd-Pack - Bartemius Crouch
David Tennant - Bartemius Crouch Jr.
Pedja Bjelac - Igor Karkaroff
Jeff Rawle - Amos Diggory
Cedric Diggory - Robert Pattinson
Cho Chang - Katie Leung
Viktor Krum - Stanislav Yanevski
Fleur Delacour - Clemence Poesy
All the rest of the cast are returning

The Fleur girl has too darker hair I reckon, but the choice for Voldemort looks good.
Voldemort has NOT been cast. Only speculation right now, but Warner Bro.s has not released anyone's name for that character.

It best be good. I think that for this movie they can afford to make the movie longer...right? People came to see a movie about the book, they can't complain if the movie's a little longer. That's how I feel, they should just make it really long...or they could just release the shortened version in theaters and the full eventually on DVD. Thanks for the info LostDragon, nice to see you roaming Pojo.

I would like it if it was 2 movies. I hate how they leave things out, or change them, no matter how necessary. I'd end the first part after the first task, before the second task, or after the dance. Probably before the second task.

IMDB.com is the Internet Movie Database, it has entire cast listings for every movie, TV show and video games, most of the new cast of GOF is there, I really hope this movie is long. Gary Oldman will be in Batman Begins next year, Christian Bale plays the lead. Also, for RE fans you guys remember the magi guy from the Mummy right, he will play Carlos in the new Resident Evil Movie this september. A Persian playing a Hispanic, democrats have gone too far. damn michael moore!

Two points on things talked about at the moment here:
1. Katie Leung's father is from Hong Kong, mother is a Sctoland-born Chinese woman.
2. HP is a British movie, so a release on Thanksgiving means nothing to us, so it won't happen.

Just read this book, and after reading the list of the characters, its bringing back the greatness of it in my memories. It'll be a blast to see how the make the scene where Cedric and Harry get pulled through the portkey after the 3rd event to see all of the death eaters and the revival of Voldemort. Hah, itll be kinda funny to see if its anything that I had it set out in my head. And thats a lesson that I will remember, literature is great, and I just realised it. After reading this wonderful book, full of such amazing things, and having it brought up in your own perspective in your head, its truely spectacular.

danman227460, just because you've never heard of the actors doesnt mean they are unknowns. It's just that a lot they the actors made movies just for their own countries mainly. Most of them are probably known well in their own country.Except for the child actors. If you look at the lists of movies that the adult actors have made it is alot. All of them at lest 10. Plus it would ruin the movies if they put american in the movies.

OMG. Read what has been CUT from the movie!!!!
From Mugglenet:
--->
I used to work with a movie review site, and still get reports from some people who think I still do work there. Nowadays I don't use them, but this one I thought I would pass onto you. It contains MAJOR SPOILERS on the upcoming GOF film. My contact got about a half hour alone with a script while doing some work connected with the film. She didn't get to read it through and through, obviously, but got to do a good look of what's in and what's not. Here's a breakdown: (BEGIN SPOILERS) What's been cut: the SPEW storyline altogether, opening scene with the Dursleys, the Hogwarts express (there are shots of it, but nothing in the train,) and the wand weighing. What's still in: Creepy opening scene with Voldemort, Wormtail and Nagini. The Dark Mark scene, the "Potter Stinks" bit, the skrewts, the horntail challenge, the merpeople challenge (should be very cool!) The final challenge, although the spider may NOT be in it. (My source didn't remember seeing it.) The Sphinx is in. So is Dobby and Winky, the Portkeys, Crouch freaking out, the Pensieve scene and Cedric's end. Things that are drastically cut: Yule Ball, Quidditch World Cup, Rita Skeeter stuff (she's in it, but not as much as the book,) Harry stressing over the egg clue, Snape scenes (he's not in it much,) Hagrid & Maxine love story (it's there, but just reduced to a few brief moments for humor,) Dumbledore's humor (again... they never get him right!) Note on the ending: they manage to get it all pretty much in, which is surprising given what's going on. END SPOILERS. I have to tell you, I was disappointed when I heard they cut this from two movies to one, but it sounds like they really pulled it off. The second challenge really acts as a mid-movie action sequence that should blow the doors off of a lot of what we've seen so far in the films. The final challenge also sounds amazing, and the ending should be really creepy. I know they say this with every movie, but this one could be really eerie (not just "dark") because of the very evil Voldemort scenes. Not sure what the young ones will think of it. This stands to do justice to the book, and be the best movie of the series! (And after Cuaron's work, that's saying something!)

Very VERY dissapointed that the Ball is cut. One of my favorite scenes in any Harry Potter book ever. And Snape becomes a minor character! The injustice!

That looks like a good actress for Skeeter(that name does and always will remind me of that cartoon Doug), really fits the part.
I just hope they put enough time into it, there's no need for it to be released anytime soon. Let them finish shooting and put it together nicely. I kind of hope they extend(if they know the meaning of that word) the scene with Harry and Voldemort. It really needs to be dramatized and done well otherwise it'll kill the whole movie for me. Well, not really because I like most movies I see.

Really, the film doesn't need to be four hours long:
10 minutes for the opening scene in the Riddle House
10 minutes for the QWC
5 minutes for the Dark Mark.
5 minutes for the Goblet of Fire
15 minutes for the first task.
10 minutes for the Yule Ball
5 minutes of Harry stressing over the egg.
20 minutes for the Second task
25 minutes for the third task
30 minutes for Voldermort's resurrection
15 minutes for a conclusion
All other stuff is irrelevant.

congratulations, you just made a movie with no linking scenes that no one will watch.,..besides, theres no way the movie will be 4 hours...
without the the subplots, all it will be is action, action, action, which is never what the films have never been about....they've always maintained a balance...not to mention the fact that if you rush it like that, you wont allow for charcter development.
as the movies progress, less and less is being shown.
frankly, the one thing that bothered my about the PoA movie is that they didn't explain the marauders map, or the marauders.....

look, you just can't air a 4 1/2 hour long movie..it just doesn't happen.
im suspecting with the obvious trimmings and such, with the time required for the airing of critical scenes and the scenes to make it all fit together, maybe 3 hours...tops.
prizoner of azkaban was 141 minutes including credits........true, GoF is longer, but it will be trimmed. smaller plotlines will be cut, and it will fit into 3 hours.
BTW, was that thing about Ralph Fiennes playing Voldemort true?
I hope so.
that would be awesome.
and BTW, there is no way the original cast will be around for a fifth movie. jeez, how old are they now? they're too old! radcliffe looks way older than 15...see the link posted earlier...not to mention he'll be close to ehat, 18?19? by the time OotP rolls around(if it does)

For christ's sake they aren't too old!! They look fine. Emma Watson is still only 15 and Harry and Ron 16. And besides, who else is going to play them?
BTW, yes, Ralph Fiennes is playing Voldermort and we won't see him until we watch the film. The same as with him in the first film and the Basilisk. It's the biggest kept secret in the studio.

More news on the film. From Mugglenet:
Heyman reveals more information on GOF
In an interview with Sci Fi Wire, producer David Heyman gives us a better look at what we can expect to see in the movie. In summary, we learn:
- Film will not deal with the subplot of SPEW because "It's Hermione's issue".
- A new piece of information has been put into a character.
- Scenes already filmed include the Weasley's "surprisingly spacious" tent and one described with "a trophy room filled with silvered plaques and cups of various sizes, the Ministry Box at the Quidditch World Cup stadium, and a faux marble Trial Chamber, which rises several stories high."
Heyman goes on to explain their reasoning behind what stays and what goes in the final cut of Goblet of Fire:
"Anything that doesn't really relate to Harry and Harry's journey is less relevant. That's not to say that there're not minor detours. Inevitably there are. But there are certain things that we don't spend as much time with as they do in the book, just by the very nature of the material."

Actually, I think she looks just about right, if a tad too mature-looking. That's going to become a problem with all the actors before the movies are done. But then, the WB has made an art of getting twenty-somethings to look and behave like fifteen-year-olds in many of its series, so I'm sure the same will work out here.
But Maggie Smith is pretty old. I hope the movies conclude before anything happens to the older actors and actresses. They already lost one Dumbledore; fortunately with all that hair, Dumbledore can be played by lots of people and still look pretty much the same. McGonagall might not be so easy. I thought Maggie Smith was too old to begin with but she plays the part very well.

an interview about the movie with the director, mike newell:
BRIANNE CISNEROS: You have to make sure some stuff is used in this movie because it is important in the future movies. How much does J.K. Rowling actually tell you about the other stories?
MIKE NEWELL: "J.K. Rowling keeps each story absolutely insulated from all the other stories so that nobody but J.K. Rowling knows about Book 6, which is to be published in three months time. So, other than what I read in Book 5, I have no special knowledge of the future needs of the story. I simply do what seems to be sensible for setting up the next film."
BC: How do you film the underwater parts of the Triwizard Tournament? Is it really underwater or is it computer?
MN: "The underwater sequence is both filmed naturally underwater and also heavily computerized. We built a huge tank, the biggest in Europe, specially to make this sequence. We made very careful drawings/illustrations of every movement of the sequence and then we shot the human being action exactly to those illustrations, but against a underwater bluescreen with which the tank was lined. So Harry's in the tank, doing all the movements he has to do but not against real underwater scenery. Just against the blue. Then the computer people come along and put in all the backgrounds- the rocks, the weeds, the fish, and of course the Mermaids, and the Grindylows."
BC: Are the dragons in the first task of the Tri-wizard Tournament computer generated graphics or machines? If they are computer generated, how do you direct something like that?
MN: "The dragons in the First Task are cg entirely. The process is: First, imagine your dragon, take your imaginings to an illustrator called an concept artist and get him to draw and draw, making constant changes at my direction until I feel the dragon is convincing. Then those drawings are made into models. They are modeled in clay, and changes are made to make them even more real, then they are painted. So that, at the end, you have a full size inanimate sculpture of the dragon. This is then photographed from every angles and the photos[are] scanned into a computer which works out every tiny measurement of the sculpture. Then the sequence of action is again drawn out with an illustrator and the computer takes those drawings and turns them into the real picture, adding the dragon as it goes."
BC: Who decides what to leave out of the movie and what to change from the book so that it works in the movie.
MN: "This is a very difficult matter and is worked out in huge discussions between representatives of Warner Bros, the scriptwriter, the producer, the director, and sometimes J.K. Rowling. It takes a long time, and while it's happening you constantly seesaw back and forth on certain things- Dobby should be in, Dobby should be out, Dobby should be in, Dobby should be out-and so forth. After a while, everybody gets a feel for what would work in a movie as opposed to what works in a novel."
BC: In all the other movies, Hermione is not as plain, big toothed or bushy haired as she is in the books. In the book, nobody recognizes Hermione at the Yule Ball because she is so dressed up and beautiful. Is there going to be alot of time spent on that?
MN: "I think Emma Watson is a pretty girl, but I don't think she is super model beautiful. She's just like a real ordinary person. When she goes to the ball, we've made her look as beautiful and stylish as we knew how but still recognisably herself. We don't spend a huge amount of time on it, but the way she looks does very much surprise Harry and Ron. And she's very excited to be invited by the Quidditch hero, Viktor Krum. He takes a real shine to her, and it's a very sweet relationship even though Ron is tortured with jealousy."
BC: The Dursleys are not a big part of this book, but I really like the letter with all the stamps and Mr Weasley blowing up the living room after he gets trapped in the fireplace. Are they in the movie at all? And secondly, I initially heard that this book was going to be two movies(Yay :)), but that they decided to make just one Boo :( ). What's good about it being one movie and what's bad about it being one movie.
MN: "I'm very sorry the Durselys are not in the movie at all. I, too, found the little scene very funny, but it's not neccessary for the telling of the story of Book 4, as it was in Books 1,2, and 3. So because were were making one, not two films, and something had to be let go, we decided the Dursleys were one of those things. We were sad about it. What's good about it being one movie is that the Tri-Wizard Tournament and Voldemort's plot to get Harry become very taut and very exciting because a lot of the purely descriptive stuff in the novel must be let go. That means the main story becomes a very tight, exciting, fast-paced thriller. Of course, what you miss are the fascinating little details, which in some cases, there just isn't room for. So it's swings and roundabouts what can I tell you?"
im pissed that there's no dursleys in the movie.

Quidditch World Cup......one of the most important parts in the entire book....dangit, they need to show the whole thing! It really sets up the book with foreshadowing on basically everything. (Death Eaters, Dark Mark, Winky, Krum, Crouch, its just too much)
I agree.
I think it should go for longer than 4 hours, even but they might cut it down to 2 or something, I dunno.

I haven't heard of some of the new people playing the part's ala krum and declour(or however you pronounce her name). Geeeeezzzz. 350 mill for the fourth movie. It doesn't take 2-3 years to actually make the movie. It usually takes 5-10 months of filming. I don't think they should re cast at all. They had Olivia newton john in grease and she was liek over 20. Same with JT. Lindsay Lohan is constantly playing 15-16 yr old's. Because of that I don't think that they will re cast the students. That's what I think at least. It is definently not imperitive to re cast the character's IMHO. They should just keep them.

Not everybody shows up... No Dobby... And they mess up the Quiddich Cup... And made up dance lessons...
Sometimes I hate the creative licenses these directors take.
[edit: added]
Oh, and if you want to see the trailer on the big screen, it opens with the advance showing of Corpse's Bride this weekend, and with it's world premiere next weekend.
Also, GOF was shown in movie theatres a few months ago (tho missing some CG effects) in advance showings, so copies are out on the net in hidden and less traveled circles. Don't ask me where to get it. I'm personally waiting to see it in the theatre, even though it will suck compared to the book.

I heard some stuff about order of the phoenix's release.
I think it's confirmed that Jason Issacs is playing Lucius Malfoy in film 6, and that all three of the main cast are going to stay on for the next one.
Also, it's scheduled for realease in May 2007.
If you go to darkmark.com, they have a countdown to the release of the fourth film. My mom likes the idea, but i'm not fussed. Maybe this'll prove useful for people.

I think the problem with the eye is that it just would have been too hard to make it exactly the way it is described in the book. But look at that one guy in Pirates of the Caribean... He kinda had the eye eaction that Moody should have, so it couldn't have been too difficult to make it similar to that.

Clare

Because it's somewhat darker and scarier than the first three movies. The British censors gave it a 12A, which is the equivelant of PG13.

Has anyone found any shots of Voldemort? I'm interested in seeing him. I can't do trailers, I'm on 56k.
Thats what I dont get, why is it rated PG-13?
It is greater scarier scenes and horrifying images. I don't feel PG-13 is an appropriate rating, it should have been PG. But, on the other hand, I remembered in the Sorcerer's stone and I saw kids crying after seeing the horrifying image of Voldemort. Whatever. It would be a lot scarier compared to previous films and the theme would be much darker in terms of the plot.

I don't think this is a spoiler, its just about the water scene. Sorry about if it has already been posted.
SPOILER:
The water scene of the Triwizard Tournament are cut into 15 second intervals and shot inside a giant watertank. So like every 15 seconds, they'd tell the actors to get out of the water. Then, they'd shoot again. Reason? Something about the insurance the actors have. They have edited it very well so you probably won't notice that happening. There was something else I wanted to mention, but I forgot. And have you seen Ron's hair!? lol

I've seen it, and it is soooooooo cool!!!
As expected, they've botched up nearly everything (as in, leaving out a lot of details, and changing a lot as well). However, it's great for the entertainment value, and the acting is great (even from Daniel, Rupert and Emma). Also, Voldemort looks pretty good, and the scene in the Graveyard is probably one of the best in the film.
And one more thing, if you're a fan of the evergrowing friendship between Ron and Hermione, then you'll love it when they row over the Yule Ball, and you see Ron get soooo jealous.
Probably the best of the 4 films so far, but with any luck, Order of the Phoenix will be groundbreaking as a Children's film.

I doubt the Order of the Phoenix movie will be as good as GoF. I mean the book is the longest and the most boring in the series, no offence to people who liked it. It would take some good directing and acting to turn Order of the Phoenix into an awesome movie. I hear they are already doing the casting for that movie. This is just my opinion, though.
Hah, my younger cousin doesn't want to watch Harry Potter GoF as he thought the trailer was scary. (Was it? I reckon' the trailer was awesome!) He wants to watch Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. Although I hear that is a good movie too.

Let's just say that it's probably because GoF is my favorite book that the movie disappointed me so much. I HATED it. (Actually...anything short of me actually directing it would've been bad 4 me :p )
Voldemort was CRAP. He didn't come off as "Dark" just "stupid-evil". =/
-The Dragons/Grindylows/Merpeople were cool.
-Cedric/Cho/Fleur were cool. The last two were unbelievably hot. Azn Brits rock.
-Moody was too wacky and childish. The Unforgivable Curses scene was just meh.
I wrote my own version of a review+Props/Slops, but I feel it was too crudely written to actually post it.

Meh, I didn't like it.
Points like Crouch's Death were just borugh up too abrubtly, with no explanation and no consequences later.
Dobby was left out of the movie, with Neville substituted to give him the Gilliweed, and they left out the sphinx.
It just seemed like they made a 4 hour movie, then sliced out parts until it was short enough.
Dragons were cool, as were the Merpeople, but Voldemort was horrible. He was just goofy, not evil. And Moody, while the look was good, he acted too silly.
Overall, I still think PoA is the best movie.

Excellent film, much better then the craptastic PoA movie.
The Good
-Cho and Fleur were very hot.
-Nice acting, especially from Moody and the three main actors.
-The ferret scene was still pretty funny.
-Krum was cool. Although he didnt get enough lines.
-When they were in the maze, it seemed like a good old 80s slasher flick with Krum walking around and taking out Fleur. And the look on his face was pretty cool.
-The dragons were excellent.
The Bad
-No sphinx.
-Dumbledore's acting.
-Voldemort was overacting and exaggerating his "darkness" and "evilness", so much that he looked lame instead of cool.
-They took out the thing with Rita Skeeter being a beetle animagus.
-Crouch's death was too abrubt.
-No Dobby.
