In the KC control room, Mokuba can tell that something is wrong. Honda and Jonouchi are with Anzu, who is strapped into the RA machine, which has begun to activate. She moans in pain, but as Jonouchi tries to touch her, he is repelled by a stinging electrical force.
Meanwhile, Atem is facing down the cause of the disturbance, The Devils Avatar on Tenma's side of the field. Feeding off Anzu's power, the Avatar takes shape---as Anzu herself. The Devils Anzu looks surprised for a second, before reforming as Goes, with 2701 Attack Points. Tenma attacks Atem's Cayenne with his Devil's Avatar Goes, and chops her in half. He sets a card and ends his turn.
After some discussion, it's Atem's turn and he summons The Tricky. Fortunately, he has worked out a way to take out The Devils Avatar, which always has 1 more Attack Point than the strongest monster on the field: Union Attack. With Union Attack, Tricky and Goes can attack the Avatar at the same time, overpowering it. The Devils Avatar explodes, but its severed torso makes a slash at Goes, killing it.
Atem wonder what has happened, but Tenma reveals his Trap card which has reduced the Attack Points of Atem's monsters to zero. The Avatar is unharmed. Since all Atem has is The Tricky with Attack Points of zero, The Devils Avatar has 1 Attack Point. It is notable that at the moment Atem's Life Points are 98.
But then Tenma activates a very unexpected Magic card: Devils Sanctuary! The Metal Devil Token appears, with Atem's face reflected in it just as Atem once did to Malik. And then, The Devils Avatar takes on the appearance of Yugi...
