I'm going to my Border's that is conveniently one minute away from my home XD The release party starts at 9:30 pm, and there's all sorts of fun things to do, and giveaways and contests. I hope I can get one of those Limited Edition posters >.<

And hopefully there won't be any trolls. All that the security guards can do is ask them to leave, but then the spoilers would have already been shouted. I seriously thought about bringing a bag of stones once...

I am not sure what time it starts here, but i will have to go when i get back from my local MTG tournament...whenever that will be. So, does it end at midnight or what? I haven't ever been to one of these things before....

Um... I still got to read Book 5 and 6...

My local WalMart is a 24/7 one (thank GOD, its where I got my Wii), but I will be in New York that weekend.

So I will read book 5 and 6, then 7 afterword.

Ugh Hinseville is so close to Savannah, GA (45 minute drive) My wal-mart won't even have any left.

I feel like I'm going to the release of a new gaming system.

This is just as big of a release as any gaming system, if not bigger. There will be far more people lined up to get a Deathly Hollows book than there were lining up to get a PS3. The only difference is that there will most likely be a sufficient number of books printed to cover initial demands for the product. Whether your local store carries enough to cover their demand is up to them.

I will be going to a Borders Outlet store (discount books yay!) for their book release party. They're supposedly going to have a dress up contest, a Snape debate, and other fun stuff.

I'm going. I've already reserved two of the books for a friend & I at Barnes & Nobles.

I hope to get to Borders around 8:30pm.
I plan to sit in line at the counter with DS in hand, leveling up my new baby Sneasel (whom I bred to have Ice Punch!) and waiting for midnight to come around so I can get the book.
My wife wants to participate in all the little contests, while I just really want to get the book and go read it.

I thought about going, but I'm re-reading all the books and I'm only on the third, so I might just wait to buy the seventh one later.

I pre-ordered at Borders, it was $26 US (and some change) with tax included.
Nice discount for pre-ordering!
I'm sure it'll go at regular price for those who didnt pre-order though...

originally, me and friends were gonna be ****s and go spoil the book for people near us- cuz were cynical and have nothing better to do.

however, i think i had a change of heart.

im not too big of a potter fan, but this is like witnessing the end to any good show, series, etc. that you enjoyed and need to see off into the distance.

it gives me something to do, so i might camp out at my nearest borders, even though im not gonna get a copy of the book.

Haha mine was $22 :P

My borders in the Savannah and Oglethrote Mall had them both for $24.

My Books-A-Million had it for $22, so I was happy.

Lucky!

Lucky for me there won't be a line. Just a HP party and while I'm there I'll get some manga. Lucky me I'm guaranteed a book since I pre-bought mine.

The thing looks like this: Does anyone have it?

Well, that had to be the largest queue I have ever seen in a supermarket. It was madness, it went all the way round the store. I had to queue for over an hour, but I got my copy eventually. :D

I had to queue for an hour to be in a decent place in the line (and I was still quite far down in the line) before we even started moving. And then it was almost another hour before the line was even short enough for me to be at the shop door. I hate line lines but it was worth it.

Suckers. I pre-ordered mine last wednesday at borders.com and got it this morning without waiting in any lines. Just had to open the door when it came. And it was only $17. Not quite as cheap as the guy at the supermarket but better than paying $24-$34 for it.

I had stood in line early yesterday minring at 5 in the morning so that I could get my space in line. So,since I was there before everyone else was,I was #1.

14 hours later,I went back to border's to meet u with some friends, and we were numbers 1,2,3,4,and 5.We asked what number they were on,and they said like 640.

O_O

11:55 rolls around and they announce that they're going to start calling us by our numbers, starting with #1 (ME!!).Got my three copies, and they gave me a signed "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows" poster, signed by J.K. Rowling!

Before I left,I asked how many numbers they had given out,and they had stopped the numbers at 790 something.

Sooooo much fun.

The local walmart didn't supply the books at 12:01 so I went in today at a bout 9:30 and conviently picked up a book from the giant stack of books. It was about 18 dollars which is pretty good, went to my local brooks as well and saw it there for 32... I also picked up book 5 as I have yet to read 5 and 6 yet but I'm very anxious to read number 7.

Many lulz ensued at our giveaway.

Went there at 8 so we could get one of the ticket things so you got to wait less time in line. Went back like 10 mins before and the line is super long. I go up front and ask what's going on. The rent-a-cop there said they reached capacity and were just going to let people in as people came out. This enraged the dude the cop was having the main arguemnt with as he was like #4 or so in line. Epic Smash't. So I go to the back of the line and dude drives by with spoilers on his car. But he had bad form (no shouting out windows, no horn beeping, no megaphone) so no lulz happened. I go inside and they're like "You color has been called gogogo, if you don't have a colored card you have to wait." I get in line and get my book all without anyone checking if I had one of the cards to get the book.

Friday evening, wife and I went to dinner, discussing possible questions that might arise... one question we asked was "What is Dumbledore's full name?"
I was able to answer it... Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.

We went to Borders for the book release party, and they played "Stump McGonagall". One of the employees was dressed up as McGonagall, and I asked the first question... "What is Dumbledore's full name?"
She didnt know it. So she asked me the answer.
"Albus Percival W.... W.... dang.. I forgot the W one!! -I knew it 3 hours ago!...where's my wife at?!?!" (She was playing SNAPE bingo)
She said I couldnt win the prize because I didnt know it..... well ya never said I had to know it, you just said I had to stump you, which I did.... well, I'm keeping your pen!

They had given us colored wristbands when we walked in that evening. I had a silver one. Orange wristband holders were the ones to go first in line, then silver. I was at the start of the silvers, right behind the last orange guy.
While waiting patiently in line, this fat black chick walks up and tells me she is supposed to be at the end of the orange line. I ask her where her orange wristband is, and she says she lost it. I told her that if she couldnt prove that she has an orange wristband that I wasnt going to let her stand in front of me. If you're stupid enough to lose your wristband (which was a strong wristband with a great adhesive on it) you should just lose your place in line IMO. She had 2 guys with her. She told one to go get the employee that told her to stand there. He did, and the employee showed me a sheet that had names highlighted on it. Some names were not highlighted at all, some in different colors. Her name was in orange.
There's one problem with that : you could have just done that...how do I know she wasnt supposed to be a non-highlighted person? The employee basically told me she was allowed to stand there in line.
The fat chick's boyfriends kept leering at me the rest of the time we were in line. I leered back. I'm not letting some smug-looking thugs intimidate me.
When I got to the front of the line, I told every employee there what happened, and that I wasnt pleased with it. I will be writing a letter to the franchise owner about that employee letting his friends cut in line.

I was so worried about spoilers that I didn't get my book until the next day, when the crowds were gone. I had reserved it, so I had no worries.

One of the best advantages to Barnes and Nobles in Morrow, GA is that now many people near here would stay up to midnight just to get a book, so everyone who arrived at 11:30 were considered near the front of the line. So I got my book. Best Harry Potter. And I'm alright with the how the event turned out, the best part was not having to stand outside to wait.

Being that this is the final HP book, I decided to go to the local Books-A-Million's shindig. It was a blast. There were people in costumes of Harry, Severus, lots of Tonkses, some Rons, a few Hermiones, and one Bellatrix, though she didn't really pull off the look. ;)

While waiting, I just sat in the music aisle reading some biography on Jimmy Page, and got into conversation with a fellow fan about the meaning behind the title, and Snape's allegiances.

When they finally started handing out the books, the clerk made an announcement on the loudspeaker, but it was drowned out by the cheering of rabid wizards and witches.

I've finished the book, and darn, when people were saying stuff like "have your tissue boxes ready", I scoffed. Who could cry over a book. Come to find out, I could. I got the sniffles at several parts. Nice conclusion to the series, wish I started going to these HP parties a lot earlier!
