View Full Version : Is Voldemort an Animagus?

Was it ever hinted or said in the books whether or not Voldemort was an Animagus? Surely somebody as powerful and experienced as him could figure something like that out by the end of the story. I think it'd make for an excellent plot twist if in the final battle Voldemort became some kind of large and dangerous animal as his Animagus in order to fight Harry. What'd be an even bigger plot twist is if Harry figured out a transformation similar to James' stag. I mean Voldemort's the greatest wizard of all time and Harry's gonna be really powerful by his seventh year so wouldn't it make sense if one of them figured out how to transform?

I think it would be interesting if Voldemort was an animagus, but I can't bring myself to believe it. He seems to just have a big connection with snakes, after when he was taken down by Harry in the beginning. And the whole thing with Nagini...well who knows. I wouldn't like to see Harry turn into an animagus at the end. To be honest, I am one of the people who think that they will both die, though that seems improbable also because one of them is meant to live according to the prophecy. But, if Voldemort was an animagus and turned into a huge kind of snake-like animal it wouldn't be much of a twist for me. It would be very predictable after the attack on Mr. Weasley.

Theres always a possibility, he'd be a snake if anything.

Or maybe a serpent of any kind. Possibly something as drastic yet cliche as a dragon.

I just think that it would be too cliche. And I don't know if it would be in the style of JK to pull something so predictable into the books. But then again...I'm hoping for Hermione and Ron to get together, so you never know.
Not to mention, I think that Bellatrix will be nearly more important in the upcoming book because of pushing Sirius (poor dog ><) into the veil. I hope she dies...><

I am almost certain that Voldemort is a Animagus because if he has that much power he must know how to do that it is prolly simple magic to him.
As for Bellatrix....I think that after spending the summer at Privit Drive Harry will want revenge for Sirius' death and he will try to escape to find her and get revenge(even though i don't think that it will work).
I don't see why not. However, we do know that Harry won't become an animagus. It took James and his friends more than two years to learn it from what was said in the books. (I think the books said around 3.) and two years is all Harry has left. On the other hand, it took Harry little time to get a Corporeal Patronus down. Ya never know, but I don't think that's his thing in the next two books.
One thing I definitely agree on though is that Bellatrix is getting her Come-up-ins and soon. She took out Neville's parents and Sirius....she needs to die.

Yeah Harry does learn quickly. He learned how to fly very quickly, he learned very advanced magic like the Patronus Charm very quickly, plus he mimicked Voldemort's spider attack after just seeing it in a vision. Harry's definitely talented. I don't think it'd take him long to become an Animagus if he really wanted to do it. But in the case of Voldemort, I think it'd be interesting if JK threw that one at us.

I think Voledmort is power enough to have more than 1 animal transofmration form...

I think it makes a lot of sense for Harry (or maybe even all the main three) to become an Animagus. It would certainly follow JKR's style in writing the books. If you look through any of the five, very rarely is any type of magic discussed that isn't explained, or doesn't become explained later. Furthermore, most of the magic discussed is within the realm of Harry's, Hermione's and Ron's knowledge (and so within the realm of the reader's). So, since the Animagus motif has been such a large part of the first five books, I think it very likely that JKR will go into detail about the process of becoming an Animagus. The simplest way for her to show that process is for a central character to become an Animagus.

The problem with Voldy being an animgus is that it would jut be a lot cooler in the movie or a videogame than in the book. Climactic battles can be pretty dificult to pull off in any literature. I think voldy just dies of a heart attack, everybody says Harry is the best wizard ever, and only a few stupid people believe him when he says he didn't kill the guy. Just like O.J., only funnier.

i thought vol was an animagus?
You doubt JK. One of her greatest marvels is how vivid her end of book battles or scenarios are! They are genius and so is she.
