I just started playing Red again the other night and I remember how much I loved playing it when it first came out. I used to know every little thing about that game; all the little tricks and all the locations of every pokemon. I could beat that game with my eyes closed. Of course, now playing it again 10 years later, I've forgotten all that stuff, but I still have loads of fun playing it.
I've just recently gotten back into Pokemon, but the only games I have are Red and Silver. My Silver cartridge has a dead battery so I can't save my game, so I'll have to stick with playing Red until my DS and Diamond come in the mail. It will be great to see how much the game has evolved since the good old days back in '97-'99.

I used to know the Mew trick like the back of my hand, which isn't saying much because the back of my hand isn't really that interesting and pretty easy to remember.
I used to use the Mew trick all the time and then brag to all my friends that I had Mew. They would then envy my greatness because they thought they were cool having all 150 Pokemon and I had 151. I used to be the king of Pokemon within the geek circle; I played through Red version a million times so I knew every little secret, I played through Pokemon Gold and Silver in Japanese before it was released in America, and I got Mew when no one else knew how to, all my loser friends were jealous of me. I was the number 1 loser.

If I'd had any friends whatsoever I would've been the number 1 loser to end all number 1 losers around the world. Anyone who thinks they can compete with my loseriffic qualities is clearly pren00bescent it the realm of loserism. Period.
I have Red, Blue, and Stadium. I even have red and blue N64 controllers. I'll prolly get Yellow in a year or two.

Hah! You think that's bad?
I played this game 3 times. Both time I had all my Pokemon in my party Lv85+ and all those time, after I beat the Pokemon league 10+ times, the files got corrupted.

me and a friend were playing Pokemon Stadium 1 constantly recently. i decided to upload some new poke's onto the game, but it messed up and my awesome data was corrupted! i wanted to start playing it again to raise all of my favorites to 100 but now i dont have the drive. lol ANYTHING that plugged into the back of the N64 controller was horrible.

well idk if it was the sametime as the swampert but when i was younger i would go to this daycare place where my mom worked when my dad was at work and i was in this room with about 20-25 other people who all played pokemon. Well some kid stole my game from my bag, played it released a few things and then put it back. I went on there and i was like, what the HELL!!! :eek:I never left my stuff unatended again:D

i just found my (corrupted) Red game. i'm going to start a new data. normally i never use cheating devices, but considering i'm never going to meet someone face to face who is playing R/B/Y, and it came out 9(?) years ago, i don't really care. i'm just going to catch and train all my old favorites and give them the best movesets i can.

Stadium is the only way to get maximum use out of Focus Energy and Substitute. However, sleep is totally crippled in Stadium...it last a maximum of 3 rounds, and THE SLEEP CLAUSE CAN'T BE TURNED OFF! That totally sucks. And on NB people will hax...I guess there's just no way to get a perfect RBY experience...={

give me an example of how an in-game moveset of a pokemon might have to be changed when moved to stadium?

I play my recently dug up Blue Version a lot. I mostly just use it to stockpile Rare Candies/Mews/etc on my Pokemon Stadium 2.
What I love about the old versions (R/B/Y) is that they have better TM's than most other versions.
Plus, there was always that aura of mystery surrounding Mew, and the lady who said "The Tangela you traded me went and evolved!" left us to wonder what the hell she was high on.
Who knew years later she'd prove to be the wisest one in R/B/Y?

Sometimes Focus Energy is worth a shot in stadium. Swords Dance and Amnesia generally yield higher returns, but FE can break right through defensive moves like Barrier. Also, FE pumps both physical and special moves. It's best when used by fast pkmn. Hyper Beam is a riskier option in stadium, as the 1-turn lag can't be negated by anything. Substitute is definitely worth consideration since Subs are immune to everything other than direct damage, plus HP drain moves always miss against them. It's tough for me to think of an example as it is nearly impossible to tell which moves would become better or worse options without comparing the entire team's strengths/weaknesses. Although, if you have a team built around sleep moves, you can expect it to perform quite poorly in stadium.

Hello people! I'm new to this & have recently rediscovered my Pokemon Yellow GB Game, which I am now incredibly stuck on!! I've been searching for hints for days & all I've found is a site some guy made where it basically tells you how to play the game from beginning to end, with cheats & tips etc etc but I wanted to play it anyhow & all I found was the game, without a manual or anything so if anyone can help me out of a reallt tricky spot on POKEMON YELLOW Please Reply!! Great to see I'm not the only one! Just picked up my blue cartridge after a LONG time not having picked my Game Boy Pocket up!
I've heard the new games are crappy and, personally, having seen the state of the new pokémon that have come out, it's nice to go back to the basic, glitch-ridden, crude looking but brilliant nonetheless old versions!

That's what makes RBY so cool; they came with their own built-in GameShark.
As far as gens go, the second one was the best. RSE and DP aren't all that cool.

Not to be DK about it, but I must criticize your sig, as I have nothing better to do. If what does not kill one makes one stronger, then why not get a 4-limb amputation and a lobotomy?

It's been a while but from what I remember Kadabra/Zam owns in R/B/Y.
Got Kadabra?
Doesn't matter much who you pair up with him.
My team is alakazam chansey starmie dragonite snorlax and exeggutor but i've no clue on what the stats should even look like in this game not to mention viable move-sets

I sold my Blue version when FireRed/LeafGreen came out. The old ones were good, but they had awful graphics in comparison and there were a lot of glitches/things not working right. I.e. Zapdos weak to lightning FTW?!?!

And Ghost attacks having no effect on Psychic types made Psychics way too powerful. And Fire wasn't resistant to Ice, so Charizard was weak against Ice.

in pokemon stadium i used mainly legends such as mew, mewtwo articuno zapdos but the other three were my charizard, blastoise i would own just with mew and mewtwo mew would sometimes die because it would get paralyzed but softboil did come in handy but mewtwo finished of most of the elite four

That's actually just what the game would like you to believe. While the game itself may say that Zapdos is weak to electric attacks it actually isn't weak to them. Zapdos takes neutral damage due to being part flying along with part electric, and the game treats it like that, but the game's text shouldn't be really taken to heart.

I must say. I'm absolutely DYING to face Shellshock in battle. I know deep in my heart that it is my destiny to become the world's one true POKeMON master. I no longer dwell in skepticism and cynicism. I know that nobody would go to so much trouble to state that thier Blastoise is undefeated if it were not true. After all, Blastoise is practically the strongest POKeMON in the entire game anyway. I take your word of honor that Shellshock has never been defeated. However, the fact that it is nonreplicatible in netbattle is most unfortunate. This makes it obvious to me that to fulfill my destiny and prove myself as the world's one true POKeMON master, I must battle with you old school--via game link cable. Do you live in Larimer county? If not, I can take a trip to wherever you live so I can battle you. No distance is too great, no amount of gasoline too expensive, because my true destiny as the world's one true POKeMON master is the most important thing in the world. It might be a while till I can get there though, since I don't really have money right now. Or you could travel over to where I live. But the fact reamins: To be the world's one true POKeMON master, there is no other way than for me to face Shellshock. I look forward to our battle.

What?!
The graphics in that game are the best!
How can you say that?!
I miss those games' graphics.
I don't really like the new graphics compared to the old games.
But yes, I restarted my red about 2 days before I got Diamond.

Yeah...everything about 1st gen, especially Red/Blue; the graphics, the sound, the way the menu is set up, and just everything...has a really nice, classic, nostalgic feeling. Maybe it's just because my Blue version was the only person who loved me when I was little. Who knows. I've even theorized that the graphics and sound are in some way hypnotic.
