go to wizards.com and sing in to their message boards. Its a great way to meet people that are playing in your area. I know several of the regulars are english.

SWM is better than SSB simply because it is bigger adn more flushed out with more support. There are also some very easy places to jump into to get started depending on what your favorite faction is. There is also a new starter set due out in a month.
