I own a Japanese Charizard card which, I'm told, is the first appearance of Charizard on a trading card. I simply don't know, and I don't know how to find out, and I'm hopeful this is the place. I don't know whether I can post a photo on this site, so will start by trying to describe the card.
The card is non-holographic, and is slightly smaller than "standard" sized cards. It features Charizard standing against a red background, with small, pink silhouettes of other Pokemon surrounding him. The card has a beige border. Above Charizard is a single pink bar with "006" and some Japanese characters which I'd assume translate to "Lizardon" or "Charizard". Below Charizard is a box of data with five colored bands (from top to bottom, they're pink, orange, blue, yellow and purple). The "fine print" at the bottom reads "1995 Nintendo / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK Inc." The back of the card is light green, with darker green, repetitive Japanese symbols running northeast.
Does anyone on "pojo" know anything about this card?
I'd be grateful for any information.
Thanks...Joel
