mystic swordsman question

i was wondering about mystic swordsman's the effect says that it will upgrade if you destroy a monster result of battle... but its effect says that it can destroy a face down monster with its effect. but if it destroys a face down with its effect does that still count for the result of battle needed to upgrade??? thanks

From the UDE FAQs:
If "Mystic Swordsman LV2" attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, that monster is destroyed by "Mystic Swordsman LV2"’s effect, not as a result of battle. So you cannot use its second effect to Special Summon "Mystic Swordsman LV4" during the End Phase.

If any Mystic Swordsman slashes a Set monster, it has to kill it by its effect.

If the monster would be killed by battle, it must be flipped face-up to see ATK and DEF, determine the result of ATK/DEF from the attacking monster and the defending monster, calculate any possible damage (piercing/trampling effect), and destroy the lowest monster during that battle if possible.

For the Mystic Swordsmen and other similar cards, once they hit a Set monster, the Set card is killed by effect instantly while facedown, not triggering effects that destroy monster by battle and/or Flip Effects.
