its funny how some side thigns intimidate your opponents;
for starters these happened:
1. i was playing this guy and losing and i also was working on my rubiks cube i finished it during the duel and then the rest of the match he did alot of stupid mistakes and i won.
2. i was sitting and i said "hey lets duel" it was a serious atmosphere everyone was like into there duels then the guy drops his bag on the table and says "are you ready to be the pokemon champion?" it cracked up everyone around me. for the first 5-10 turns i coudnt think straight when i got my head into the game i pulled together and managed to win.

Ummmm, okay then. I have a lot of unique mannerisms, and I am generally a collected person. One duel in particular, I believe my opponent was strung out, but he just kept telling me to "stop that!". I had no idea what I was doing but he wound up doing things like knocking his deck over, dropping his hand, and making some stupid mistakes. Again, something tells me he was coming down, but intimidation might have been a factor.-

Or you can bring in a skull necklace and claim that they are the skulls of your past victims. :p
Now I'm not one for intimidation, as I feel playing with a more conservative attitude is the best course of action. Never change your game face in any situation, good or bad, and keep your opponent guessing what you'll do next. And make sure to place a well-timed cheap pop during a duel. Nothing is more intimidating then that imo. :D

True story. I was at the CRV Sneak Preview, and my opponent was a little boy with his mother watching nearby. After every card I played, I did a little dance and chanted "the Ring must go to Frodo, the Ring must go to Frodo." The kid cracked up so hard he just forfeited.

Doing your best impression of beavis and announcing every move as such
making a beavis and butthead quote after certain things " I bottomless trap hole on your Gemini Elf so I can have Tee Pee For My Bunghole, Yeah Yeah cool he he" "he he look those chicks have huge boobs and they like each other or something yeah cool hehe"*looking at gemini*
"yeah makes you wish they had a topless trap hole hehe cool, boobies"
Thats probably more freak out your opponent more than intimidate
or they will just think your special

I once went to a sunday local tourney, dressed in all black, with a hankerchief wrapped arond my head, and Raybans on. I made it to the top four, due to several misplays and one guy forfeiting.
I was'nt trying to be tough, I just had a"ahem" rough night.
Most days I just use the poker face.

I was a half inch away from quitting, but a few people were kind enough to point out that I was not being in the least rational. I knew that there were idiots like that out there, and I just let it get to me. Sorry to the people I upset with the threats of leaving these forums. 1. Playing my Summoned Skull or Great Maju Garzett
Opponent: Who in hell plays THAT anymore?
Me: One guess?
Opponent: *gets massively thrashed*
2. Book of Taiyou on a Needle Worm or Morphing Jar #2
Opponent *stares in disbelief* "umm...errrr..."
3. Using Ojama Trios, Ground Collapses & heaps of monster removal
Opponent: "WTF!!!!!"
4. Saying stuff like: "now WHY would you wanna go & do that for?"
OR "thanks for sending yet another Fiend to my graveyard" OR "you have just activated my face down trap *muahahahaha"
5. Laughing hysterically when I draw a card, even though it may be a crap one, or saying "you're going down now!!!".
6. Setting Dimension Fusion as a bluff when I don't need to use it.
7. Asking my opponent constantly "my move yet?" or "have you finished?" (this is very good when they are trying to work out what to do next)
8. Having the Yugioh "Music to Duel By" album playing in the background.

I usually play with a straight face. But once in awhile I'll make a slight discomforted look when I get a good card so they'll think I got crap & then I play it & they look bewildered. I don't go out of my way to make myself look stupid, it sometimes just comes out naturally!

every once and awhile ill act like atem 2 throw off my opponent (when I draw a card) a) yell "THIS!!!!" and hold the card way up in the air. b)say "foolish mortal" as I draw. c)say "draw" or "not if I draw this card" (when paying a cost for a card) I always pay the cost before I activate (this is a rule)while they're doing something ill say...a) I discard this card from my hand to activate "this!!!!" then reveal the card or b)be in the middle of they're move and suddenly ill say I pay (blah) lp to activate "this!!!" (when activated a spell or trap) lift my left arm and press my forearm like I'm pressing the duel disk and make the (beep sound) and make a whooshing sound like on the show. NOTE:(these tactics usually make ppl laugh and wonder wtf but in the end I got 3 ppl at my local acting like characters from the show when they duel) this week we all made character decks and are entering the tourney with them since we are the best there we figure it will be a competition between us using ridiculious decks I made the yugi duel at alcatraz deck (vs kaiba battle city)

Well, everyone keeps telling that my deck and the opening draws will **** my oppenent so I'm gonna keep a tube of K-Y Jelly w/ me and after I draw, offer it to them and telol them I'll wait for them to get back from the bathroom to start my turn.
Now if you really cruel, just toss a junk card on the table (say Winged Kuriboh) and at various times, pretend he's talking to you and advising you what your oppenent has and what to play. Then after a while, start yelling @ it saying it doesnt know how to duel

I don't use any 'tricks' or 'techniques' to 'intimidate' my opponent. I feel that every game should be played through skill and not through you or your opponent being off their game through something the other has done.
Making a duel comedy style is the way to go though, it increases the fun level which is what I play the game for. My opponent, a guy that looks like Beni from The Mummy, played Exchange and got my Megarock Dragon. I could have chosen any of the beaters he had in his hand (He was playing a strange Dark deck and has several Dark beatsticks in it.) but instead I decided to take Kuriboh for a Yugi style move later on. ;) It did have an effect, because knowing I had Kuriboh in hand made him wonder when I'd use it and on what, so I guess that could be seen as a form of 'intimidation'.
Having fun in YGO is the best way to throw your opponent off. YGO is serious business after all.

*Walk into the shop with one of your friends. When no one is looking drop a Card Trooper on the ground*

Him: THIS IS MADNESS!!!
You: NO! THIS. IS. YU-GI-OHHHHH!!!!! *kick*
Him: Weeeeee!! *falls down a flight of stairs*

1) put all of your elemental hero fusions in your fusion deck, show it to your opponent and say "get your game on!"
2) keep changing between your normal voice and your alternate ego voice.
3) play cards that have suggestive names or try to make your cards sound suggestive.
4) hire some bodyguards and have them stand there wearing sunglasses and have their arms crossed.
5) practice your evil laugh. "MUAHAHAHAHA!"
6) wear gothic clothing.
7) dress up as a villian from the show.
8) win a sjc or worlds and mention it in conversation during a duel.
9) quotes from movies always help.
10) use big words that are hard to pronounce and that you opponent probably doesnt know their meaning OR learn a foreign language (german or japanese would be best)

You Missed One!
11) have a pair of medical people in white jackets stand either side of you with a syringe while you dual and have them say "this is only a temporary measure" from time to time

The best thing to do is be polite and calm; the minute you stress is when you start making misplays.

{ADVISED DOING BEFORE TRASHING OLD SLEEVES}
Open a bag of Doritos, Cheetos, or Nachitas while you're dueling. Then, cheese up your hand and don't forget to keep licking them slightly. Then, read all of your opponent's card texts and effects, and keep looking at his graveyard. He will just want to run away and protect his sleeves. Works even better if they're not using sleeves. Potato Chips also work just as well.

Step 1: unsleeve your cards.

i just ask a lot of random questions about anything/everything. quietly take my turns, end my turn... then ask more questions. it'll get your opponent really upset, thus making it hard for him/her to concentrate. people i play with have learned to tolerate my babbling, but it's always nice to find new victims.... especially during regionals/SJ's

I find that 'pro-reads' tend to psych people out.
You know, when they make an obvious play.
Him, turn 1: "Summon hydrogeddon, set one card."
Me: "Shrink much?"
So you play into it anyway, and they get freaked. Even better, make a terrible move, and play it like you've got a secret plan.
Me: "Alright, you set shrink, so I'm gonna special summon Cyber Dragon, normal summon Don zaloog...I'll attack Hydrogeddon with Don."
Him: -So mesmerized he forgets his shrink as I rush Don.-
I rofl-ed afterwards, cuz his blanking out saved me the game.
Or...
Me, turn 1: "Summon Snipe Hunter, discard Malicious to snipe himself?" -Rolls 6.-

I also tend to tap my foot and stare at my opponent inbetween turns, and every so often I'll say meow on the end of my scentences (But I do that normally...) I don't know if all of those count, but that's what I do. :D

Actually, the correct play to do with the cards he had in hand is Summon Cydra, summon Don, atk with Cydra. When he Shrinks, you chain Rush from your hand, then Don atks directly. Summoning Don is optional.

its funny how some side thigns intimidate your opponents;
for starters these happened:
1. i was playing this guy and losing and i also was working on my rubiks cube i finished it during the duel and then the rest of the match he did alot of stupid mistakes and i won.
2. i was sitting and i said "hey lets duel" it was a serious atmosphere everyone was like into there duels then the guy drops his bag on the table and says "are you ready to be the pokemon champion?" it cracked up everyone around me. for the first 5-10 turns i coudnt think straight when i got my head into the game i pulled together and managed to win.

- "What, you draw now? Pre-dic-table (in singsong/annoyed tone)"
- "Yeah, what, you gonna set? Yeah, I knew it. (in an irritated voice)"
- Topdeck something, slam it on the table without looking at it, and shout, "I'm Yugi, b*tch!"
- Summon Snipe Hunter and in a Southern accent say "I summun Snahp Hunna."
- When using Snipe's effect, I say "Snahp Hunna, praoratahze!"
- Acting extremely pissed off when I lose, but jokingly (making fun of this guy at my locals).

Nah, you intimidate people by taking dumb bets when it comes to decks, and succeeding.
I bet my local judge 2 tins of cards I could T8 with E-heroes (Mind you, this was BEFORE Jeff Jones did them,) and I could T8 with D-Heroes (And not DDT, I mean dedicated D-heroes.)

The most intimidating people I know do this...
They're a total class act.
They come prepared, politely ask your name and introduce themself.
They're organized, think through their plays.
They allow time for response and ask if you have one.
They're confident but not arrogant.
They smile and enjoy themselves.
They stand when the match is done and shake your hand and telll you, "Thank you for a very enjoyable match"
and after all of that being nice, playing fairly and with good sportsmanship....they kick your lil behind down to the lower tables with how they played.
A total class act is the most intimidating thing in the long run in the game. Those people don't need to talk trash, cheat, lie, rules shark, or any other "trick" to win, they just play very well and lead by example. When you've been beaten by someone like this your mind says, "Whoa, that guy has his crap together! I hope I can do THAT one day" That guy didn't have to do anything at all to you to be intimidating, YOU intimidated yourself with thoughts of him.

Before my first regionals I found this cute little mouse bobble head. So taking with me I set it up so it face my opponent and every once in a while I would pet it so the head would bounce for a moment or two. It was hilarious the guys there were all serious players so they kept tiring not to look at it but they did.

1-play with jank in between rounds
2-hang out with the "pros" in ur areas
3- act like an idiot, i.e. ask things that are obivous
4-talk in a funny accent
5-hang out with the re-tards in ur area
6-play with picture sleeves
7- mess up ur hair, wear raggedy clothes and have a cardboard sign around ur necks reading "i have seen the end" and start talking like a psyco (my fav)

I'm actually fairly tall for a woman, so I find myself looking down at people a lot. People say that it looks really creepy when I stare you down.
Also, wearing something that shows cleavage helps to make your opponent misplay. Though that probably won't work for most of you... or will it?

head games are a big part of this game.
Head games don't work on people if they go over every possible situation in their head and understand every possible outcome of every move, and leave the rest up to fate once they make their move.

Agreed. I've played people like that. When my opponent is THAT calm, it is pretty intimidating.

Better yet, just don't look at your hand at all and play all of your cards face-down.
You'll never win that way (and you'll probably get DQ'd), but your opponent will have no idea what the hell is going on.

last year when i cared about regs, i made bad monarch puns. i found it sort of funny, and my opponents found it idiotic and annoying, the funniest was when some guy lost after seeing 2 raizas and a granmarg drop in a row, he threw his deck down on the table and was like "******* monarchs!"
"Fire it up"
"Blown away"
"got a light?"
"lets rock."
"chill."

its funny how some side thigns intimidate your opponents;
for starters these happened:
1. i was playing this guy and losing and i also was working on my rubiks cube i finished it during the duel and then the rest of the match he did alot of stupid mistakes and i won.
2. i was sitting and i said "hey lets duel" it was a serious atmosphere everyone was like into there duels then the guy drops his bag on the table and says "are you ready to be the pokemon champion?" it cracked up everyone around me. for the first 5-10 turns i coudnt think straight when i got my head into the game i pulled together and managed to win.
Wow what a stupid thread and what a stupid topic to bring up lol. Play yugioh not say ******* BOO and hope they get scared or something. Really really dumb thread.

I was all like "yay, Dr Strangefate is back"..then I looked at the date *sigh*
Anyways, if you don't try to intimidate your opponent, then you can't be intimidated yourself.
Playing a "noob" card(s) usually does the trick though..
"who the f'ck runs Summoned Skull?"
Then you beat them with it..."I'll let you guess".

That happened in my first tourney. Not the serius thing but the blurting out card names. One of the wprst was "Set call of the haunted, play graceful charity and draw treeborn, phoenix and zaborg, discard phoenix and frog." I won that duel though funnnily. They played Stein and I dropped kuriboh and brin controlled the twin and attacked their empty field. Some time you really should main-deck kuriboh.
