View Full Version : Best Rares To Come Out of Time Spiral Block?

It might be a little early to start a topic like this since we haven't had much time to experience Future Sight and see what it can do. But what do you think the best rares to come out of Time Spiral block are? Whether it be for Standard, Extended, Legacy, etc. just state your opinion. The Timeshifted rares from Time Spiral and Planar Chaos don't count since they are basically just copies of older cards. So no one say Damnation.
Here are my picks:
1. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
2. Vesuvan Shapeshifter
3. Extirpate

Yeah, your picks pretty much sum up Time Spiral block. Glittering Wish will at least make a dent in Extended, Pact of Negation only as a 1 or 2-of, etc.

I must agree with your picks as well Zangoosed. I like Bogardan Hellkite in the Vesuvan Shapeshifter slot myself, though.

I'm not so crazy for Hellkite. Shapeshifter is much more versatile, though I could see Hellkite getting #4 or 5.

1) Teferi (Extended/T2)
2) Extirpate (Can be sideboard of almost ANY format)
3) This is tough, I thing Urborg is AMAZING but I'm gonna have to say Flagstones here.

Really? I'd say Urborg is better than Flagstones. Urborg just BOMBS.

1. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir (Duh)
2. Extirpate (Has so many uses in every format)
3. Damnation (Board wipers are always insane)
4. Bogardan Hellkite (Single-handedly made Dragonstorm a viable deck)
5. Heartwood Storyteller (Slows down control majorly)

I have to say damnation is the most influencial for casual and Extripate is going to have a big impact in a couple of formats. Teferi is perhaps the best blue creature since Morphling.(Meloku comes to mind for competition)
Lands are a given so I might also cite bridge from below instead. Even with all the hate the graveyard still remains one of the most exploited resources.

Flagstones are awesome and see tons of play.
Damnation, enough said.
How can you forget maybe the best white weenie creature ever, Serra Avenger?
I have to give some love to the new legendary dragons so I'll say Numot as he is my favorite and he sees play in standard.

Damnation because its always so overrated (just as the reviewers/critics always say)
cronozoa- I find it pretty good, have a decent affect
And of course the ones you already said.
I have the one called Evil Eye of Urborg, its kind of weird but pretty good, especially if you have one of those cards that allow you to change the creatures type to eye (if there is any)

Um... Tarmogoyf is the ONLY card in TSP that has affect all formats it's legal in. Yes, Legacy and probably Vintage too.

Uh, I'd argue that extirpate has applications in all formats. It isn't a big of a deal as tarmogoyf, but i can't really see the goyf doing much in vintage anyway. Extirpate probably isn't main deck material in any formats when the deck is specialized for it, but it's a decent side board card in all formats.

The most defining card is Teferi, followed by a close Extirpate.
Damnation is not that great outside of Standard, with Black having Mulilate and Decree of Pain. Flagstones are only useful in dual land decks, but in ext, we have the Fetch lands. Tarmogoyf is the best attack creature to come out.
