Venom question

Last night I was dualing with my friend. She attacked my Toad with her Venom. We were wondering which effect would happen first. That is, would Toad's effect of returning to the hand happen first or would Venom's effect of KOing a character happen first.

Venom KO's a character he stuns unless 6 end is paid.

Toad can be returned to the hand if he would become stunned.

Basically, it's in the wording. If toad would become stunned, return him to your hand instead. That means that he never actually reached the stunned state, so Venom's effect would never happen.
