so i figured i'd start a thread about tsp block, in preparation for the upcoming ptq's. so for those of you that can give insight into this format, please post.

obviously the pt yokohama top 8 decks will be in full force, with random future sight cards added in, various tweaks made to those decks, etc. so far i've tested Oiso's r/g control deck (me using it) against Wafo-Tapa's u/b control deck (friend using it) and i haven't been able to come up with a win (note, didn't play sideboarded games). since Wafo-Tapa's deck is the one that won the pt, i think it'd be safe to assume that that's the deck that will be most prominent in various ptq's.

questions that came into mind as i tested:
- what cards from FS will have an impact for and against the u/b deck?
i saw that delay was a pretty good card against the u/b mirror, where it was essentially a 2cc counter for other counters. but not good against an aggressive/mid-range deck.
while it is kind of expensive, quagnoth gives green an un-counterable/un-targetable beat stick. with it, damnation is basically their only out, or chump blocking it with urza tokens or whatnot.

- what cards from FS will help out the other proven decks in general?

- what deck has the highest chance of beating the u/b deck?

- Wafo-Tapa initially mentioned that he didn't like the triskelavus+academy ruins in his deck..would the deck have been more efficient without those cards?

well that's all i can think of for now..more will be added as more testing occurs :)

link to pt/ptq info, with schedule of upcoming pt's and respective ptq's:

the qualifiers for pro tour valencia are block constructed, but the pt itself is extended.

i hope this helps.

Even tho Wafo-Tapa didnt like the triskelavus+academy it won him that pro tour. I believe it would be good sideboard not main deck it, it all depends on preference and playing style. What deck has the biggest chance of beating U/B, a deck that comes out faster pretty much is what I think. If U/B can control the game early on it is hard to beat b/c it has so many 1 ofs (if running teachings) that can be tutored up for different situations.

There are four Block Constructed Grand Prix events:

-Strasbourg, France
-Montreal, Canada
-San Francisco, CA, United States
-Firenze, Italy

I'm going to the San Francisco one, though I'll be in Canada for the Summer until the 16th (I doubt I'll make it to Montreal one since I'll be in Ontario =/)
