what should I do with my registeel? It's really cool and I wanna use it. It's brave so it's +atk -spd which works perfectly with Curse. It's got amazing defenses so could I go with curse/ancientpower/rest/toxic or something staller-ish? if possible?
otherwise, what are some good movesets/evs to give to it. I was thinking 252 sdef and 252 def. pretty simple.

If u use that moveset make sure u use pp-ups on ancient power, or try and teach it another atk.

I would give it this moveset:

Registeel@Leftovers
Nature:Brave
Ev's:252 HP/160 Atk/96 SpD
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Curse

I like registeel as a stall-tank. Im thinkin maybe:

Rest
Curse
Earthquake
Toxic

Registeel@Leftovers
=Curse
=Amnesia
=Metal Claw
=Toxic (or Rest)

My ingame RegiTank. Wonderfully annoying. Gold Shield winner.

Easy strategy is to Tank up first, then attack. Very hard to take out if you can get fully tanked (6 curses + 3 amnesias).

Some prefer Rest but I like poisoning things ;)

Metal claw is stabbed and affects all 17 types. PP-Max it.

Beware another RegiTank with lefties = strugglefest.
Got on/off?

I like sleeping while something is poisoned:p

cool, good ideas, I think ill split evs between hp and the 2 defenses, unless anybody thinks that its better to mega-hella-boost the defenses (he will resist most types really well and has rest, but earthquake and flamethrower will definitely hurt him even with a very high s.def so i guess i have to think about this one.)

speed doesnt mean anything since its miserable anyway and it has curse so i wont put evs in speed unless someone has a reason.

how does this look?

Registeel @ Leftovers
Nature: Brave (+ Atk - Spd)
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 106 HP / 202 Def / 202 S. Def
OR
Evs: 252 Def / 252 S. Def / 6 HP
-Earthquake
-Metal Claw
-Curse
-Rest

i figure with the pumps, massive defenses and rest it shouldn't be too incredibly hard to win, against other stallers toxic wont help because they'll just rest it off.

still open to suggestions though i definitely liked some of them!

Metal is not effective against fire, water, electricity, and metal.

I'd rather use Quake.

I think he meant, no element is completely immune to steel. (good if your opponent has flying/levitate pokemon)

yah i agree with near. and when I make a team, I really try not to worry too much about my opponents' abilities. It's better to concentrate on makin urself strong than worryin about how to counter other pokemon (although, if u can do both go right ahead)

Correct. And don't forget this was for ingame. I typically wouldn't have to worry about being hazed, for example, but might encounter Weezing, and with toxic and EQ could possibly be screwed if I couldn't switch.

yeah exactly, im not looking out for salamence/weezing/choice gross, i just want to have a very consistent team so that i can get...what was it for a gold...100 wins in a row? -_______-

Additional Comment:

since the game is pretty simple i'll probably max out its defense evs and go with EQ/Metal Claw/Curse/Rest. im probably putting too much thought into it. Anyway, I just realized it would be stupid to put another steel into metagross's 3 man team so I guess regi will work in another 3 poke team. ill try to come up with something that works well with the elements of Metagross/Latias.

Any suggestions for a third? maybe a mixed sweeper?

My first Gold Shield Team was a copy of poster Houndoom Revenge's Team:

Slaking@Choice Band
=Hyper Beam
=Shadow Ball
=EQ
=Brick Break

Registeel@Leftovers
=Curse
=Amnesia
=Metal Claw
=Toxic (or Rest)

Latios@Soul Dew
=Psychic
=Dragon Claw
=Thunderbolt
=Recover (or Surf or Calm Mind)

This team won about 130 straight in the R/S BT, without rotation.

Got gold?

wow, you make it seem easier than I expected xD im wary on choice band though, doesnt it halve speed in addition to making only one move usable? or am i wrong? cuz if im wrong holy omg im getting choice band -____-

It's barely effective against anything,
and 38 or so power is nothing to be proud of.

Go with two attacks. It's ALWAYS better.

Latios/Tias without Recover and Calm Mind is a crime.

Shiney - Huh yeah. Except it's no competitive battling here;
the chance of finding Weezing is about 1/200 or so [no pre-evolved forms or Legendaries..]

Meh.
He's a bad Pokemon anyways.

Use Latios/Latias and two other good Pokemons.
No Registeel in short.

Easy?...No, not at all. There was more than one battle that I won by just hanging on and having a lot of luck. But this team seemed to fit in with some of the things you were considering.

Near has made some good points. Metal Claw is not powerful, and Lati@s almost always has CM/Recover, but I did win with this team and so wanted to suggest it. If nothing else you are getting some ideas and counter-ideas and that's the whole point of us trying to help.

Be careful with CB in that if you run out of PP you will begin to struggle, even if you have other moves left. Slaking+CB+stabbed Hyperbeam can and will OHKO an amazing number of pokemon giving you an advantage of 3>2 pokemon so you may want to use it in lead most of the time... if you choose to use it at all.

Got choices?

Akira

I think i'll try out Slaking, the truancy thing kinda sucks but he does seem incredibly powerful.

Q - will hyper beam cause him to sit on his butt for 2 turns? or does truant/hyper beam cooldown happen at the same time?

Another Q - why shadow ball? it isn't a physical attack is it? i hope it is, i wanted it on my Metagross.

EDIT
oh, duh, none of his other moves effect ghosts -__-
