Not posted on Pojo in a while; and never in the Pokémon sections. My boss is trying to get me back into Pokémon, so I DL'd Netbattle to get used to teams that could be built these days.

Not so much a "n00b" to the game, but haven't ever tried to play at anything other then a GBA level, so I apologies in advance, I'm still learning the terminology to Pokémon battling.

Anyway enough of the useless stuff; always enjoyed the idea of "Batton Passing" so I've built a team to work on that for a start to get used to the game again.

Ninjask (F) @ Liechi Berry
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Silver Wind
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

Having checked a few of the threads already, I'd expect this seems pretty "standard"?

Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 169 Def / 89 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Calm Mind
- Leech Seed
- Substitute

Again I'd guess a rather standard Celebi to you players, so I won't explain it.

Using them to "pass on" higher stats including Speed and Attack/Special Attack to the rest of the team:

Metagross @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 64 Def / 64 Spd / 64 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Return
- Rock Slide

Figured I'd use Metagross as a Physical Sweeper as I like the Pokémon personally, possible idea to remove Return for Explosion? Noticed its two real weaknesses were Fire and Ground hence the Earthquake and HP: Flying

Dunsparce (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 208 Atk / 152 Def / 148 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Headbutt
- Rest
- Rock Slide
- Rock Smash

Got to love Dunsparce and if going first, I can see Serene Grace + Headbutt/Rock Slide stopping most of the opponent's Pokémon unless obv' they have Inner Focus. Contemplating going for Iron Tail over Rock Smash, though unsure if I should sacrifice a set chance to lower defence and 100% accuracy for a stronger attack.

Suicune @ Lum Berry
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 62 HP / 96 Def / 252 SAtk / 100 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Roar
- Surf

Bit of a "big hitter" here, again I expect rather standard.

Gengar (M) @ Petaya Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 104 Def / 96 Spd / 252 SAtk / 56 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt

Normally would use Alakazam for this space, but noticed the line up lacked the ability to deal with a lot of types (since none of the other Pokémon have any attacks of this type) but also noticed I'm currently using two Pyschic's anyway so went for Genger instead.

Honestly not sure how you guys will take it, but hey, got to get on the horse before you can learn to ride it. Though if I can ask; if you comment, can you give reasons for your suggestions, since I can't learn if you just tell me "that's how it is!"

Flying is not effective against Ground.

-HP Flying
-Return
+Meteor Mash
+Explosion

I don't feel like explaining, it should be pretty self-explanatory;
Explosion can dish extreme damage on his deathbed, and Meteor Mash with STAB is his main attack.

Dunspacre:
He's really really bad, but it's how you want it.

Headbutt
Rockslide
Glare
Filler

Glare to be faster.

Gengar:
-Fire Punch
+Destiny Bond

Defense is pretty useless. 252/252 Sp.Attack Speed and Timid/Modest should do it.

Suicune can rest the status.
-Lum berry
+Lefties

Whether you have just copied these movesets or not I cannot tell,
but except for lack of common sense, I guess it's a good team.

Okay, thanks for the suggestions; though the "lack of commen sense", is a little harsh of a comment. As with Yu-Gi-Oh!, I don't "copy move sets", am just not a "Pokémon" player, so still learning.

My first post did mention Explosion over Return which I had concidered, just wasn't too sure on it. Meteor Mash over HP Flying, I can accept that ta, just never been sure on poor accuracy (anything below 90 if that).

Glare never too sure on, though admittedly, if Ninjask doesn't pass to it, the decrease in speed for the opponent is helpful. Can give it a try.

Again can try the whole Denstiny Bond over Fire Punch, thanks.

Lum or Leftovers I would guess is personal preference, was originally trying to avoid using the same item twice, but thanks.

Thanks for the ideas, will look into them.

If your'e going to use Dunsparce you NEED to use something with Thunder Wave on your team. Perhaps try Jotleon over Ninjask with a set like:

Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
Agility
Baton Pass

Passes speed very well, and keps dunsparce faster then your opponent. Also, if you'e not giving him agility have Metagross use Choice Band.

He doesn't need speed on Dunsparce if he plans to pass it from Ninjask.

chaosmage: Thank you, I quite like the idea of a Batton Passing Jolteon, I would guess that most "starters", don't tend to be strong physical attackers with Earthquake?

As Elly said, the idea was to pass Speed onto it with Ninjask. I'm not going to say it is infallable, but then it is a team designed to get me back into the game, not to just go "CC" (That term used in Pokémon?) and run the standard stuff to face similar teams all the time.

Also while I maybe missing something, but if the idea is to pass on Speed (And Attack with the Liechi Berry) to use Metagross as a Physical Sweeper, why would I want to lock his moveset down to one move? Since the moment it is no longer effective, I'd have to switch him out and lose the boost he had?

I apologies if this seems "stupid", though as originally posted I'm not looking for the next World Championship team, looking for something fun to use and to learn how others play for the moment.

But if Ninjask dies then so does his whole team.

I suggest using PKMN that can use Thunder Wave (Jolteon and Zapdos being very effective in that area...as well as Blissey and Regice). If you paralyze all / most of your opponent's, then fragile Ninjask can be replaced.

Of course with their whole team statused, Blissey will come in to ruin your fun. So, replace Ninjask with Dugtrio. Once Blissey is out of the way, continue your onslaught.

As for Dunsparces moves,

-Rock Slide
-Headbutt
-Swagger
-Attract (make Dunsparce Female)

This can completely abuse his Serene Grace abilities...granted it lives.

I know you might like baton pass but every good team needs snorlax (Bad Heart Burn nickname)

celebi isn't useful because there aren't any decent targets for CM passes.
I would ditch calm mind and leech seed for psychic and recover
