I know this is really stupid of me to ask, but when you're playing on double battle with moves like Earthquake or Heat Wave or Rock Slide, does each Pokemon hit take the full amount of damage or is it equally divided amongst them?

It's changing in D&P I believe with a few moves, but this guideline generally works:
If it hits both opponents only, it splits the damage in half.
If it hits both opponents and your ally, it does full damage to everyone.
This changes a few things for move preferences in double battles.
Ancient power/Hidden power [Rock] > Rock slide
Hydro pump > Surf
Er... I think that's about it. Also watch out for earthquake. You do not want to run earthquake on a lot of your guys if none of your guys are resistant/immune to it. Same for explosion. ALWAYS have something that can take explosion... As explosion is pretty popular and very sick in double battles.
This is why gengar is so awesome for double-battling... Immunity to EQ and Explosion.

Thanks Venny. Ok, another stupid question. Let's say my primape that knows Rock Slide attacks Houndoom and Noctowl in a double battle. Noctowl evades the attack. Does that leave Houndoom to take the full brunt of damage or does it still take half damage? Thanks

Its half because they spilt it up when you attacked so if it misses still half. Also it would maybe about houndoom

I have an on-topic question while I'm reading this, let's say my Metagross and Latias with levitate are 2-on-2 battling, metagross uses earthquake, does it do full to my enemies or does it only do half because latias isn't considered to be a target? (i mean, is levitate different than if you attack your teammate with earthquake and it misses?)

I think both opponent pokemon will both take full damage still. So, I'm guessing it would be a good strategy to team a pokemon knowing EQ with a flying or levitate type.
