Only one detail on this chapter so far, but it's a pretty big one:

It will be interesting to see why he's there and what he does, since last we heard he was competing... in America.

So the manga has him as already graduated or is he competing during school?
I tend not to keep up much on the actual plot, just the duels.

I think he is competing during school, but it's hard to say. It is great to finally see Zane properly turn up, has been more of a presence so far. Wonder if he will use Cyber Dragons or a different deck?

Cyber End Dragon was shown behind him when he was first mentioned. He'll use good ol' Cyber Dragons.
Does the "Kaiser Is Back" dance.

Actually, along with Cyber Dragon, Cyber Kirin, Cyber Phoenix, and Proto Cyber Dragon, I'd like to see some more Cyber-themed monsters going with the chinese mythology.

Scans have landed, and it's totally different to what anyone would have predicted. Lemme say this: The big SATURN!!!
Spoilers
- In the style of old-YGO, the chapter begins with two explorers breaking into a tomb. They don't get much further though, because they are both choked to death by a chained demon cloud (apparently the same one that dueled Kouyou. I sense a plot).
- Ryo didn't duel.
- Principal Samejima exists.
- Ryo has two American assistants ("HEY YOU!"), one of whom is evil.
- This particular evil American duels Sho off-page, and we see Sho being taken down with...The big SATURN!
- Misawa and Manjoume are facing off. As the volume ends they are about to begin their duel.
As one might say, some serious **** is goin' down at Duel Academia.

Sounds to me like...the GREATEST CHAPTER EVAR. Even if Ryo doesn't duel.
The big SATURN...who expected that? Plus American guys, Shadow Game-based death, and Misawa vs. Manjyome setup...w00t, my good man. W00t.

Maybe this is the manga incarnation of the previously anime-only Anubis? :D

The American Duel Academia students (http://www.j-a-n-e.com/gx16temp/janime_gx_16_06.jpg) are David Love (or possibly Rabb) and Reggie (short for Regina?) MacKenzie.
Their school uniforms are much more militaristic than those of the Japanese Duel Academia, replete with service caps, collar insignia, shoulder boards, sleeve bands and even medal ribbon bars.

Rabb and MacKenzie ? The writer must be a fan of J.A.G. ;)

This proves that the GX manga is light years ahead of the anime, with a plot that Takahashi would be proud of. This is vintage Yu-Gi-Oh, and I can't wait for the rest of this arc.

Well, he does write it, so I think it would be natural for him to be proud of it.

Awesome. Just plain awesome. The GX Manga...HAS A PLOT! :D And someone else besides Judai actually DUELS!
I'm so glad Kazuki Takahashi's supervising this. Now we just gotta nudge him to look at the animé.

Random all-caps English "HEY YOU!" made me laugh.
I love how all/almost all of the American characters in the YGO manga universe are evil. Pegasus was a major villain, Keith was an antagonist and a complete ass, and now we have David. (Are any of R's card professors American?)

(Are any of R's card professors American?)
Going strictly by their names, all but two would appear to be American (or, at least, of Anglo-Saxon descent), although of course we never learned the name of the unfortunate 12th (apparently two people shared the 11th place) Card Professor who got in Yugi's way.
The 1st Card Professor is Deschutes Lew, who appears to have been named for the "Deschutes" 333MHz P6 Pentium II, and thus is likely American.
The 2nd Card Professor is Tilla Mook, who appears to have been named for the "Tillamook" Embedded 266MHz Pentium MMX, and thus is likely American.
The 3rd Card Professor is Klamath Osler, who appears to have been named for the "Klamath " 300MHz Pentium II, and thus is likely American.
The 4th Card Professor is Kirk Dixon, who appears to have been named for the "Dixon" 333MHz 1.6V Pentium II, and thus is likely American.
The 5th Card Professor is Pete Coppermine, who appears to have been named for the "Coppermine" 866MHz P3-850 FCPGA Pentium III, and thus is likely American.
The The 6th Card Professor is Mrs. Katō Maiko, who appears to have been named for the "Katmai" 500MHz P3 Pentium III MMX-2, and thus is clearly intended to be Japanese.
The 7th Card Professor is Mendo Cino, who appears to have been named for the "Mendocino" 300MHz P6 Pentium II.
The 8th Card Professor is Willa Mette, who appears to have been named for the "Willamette" 1.5GHz P7 Pentium 4, and thus is likely American.
The 9th Card Professor is Ted Banias, who appears to have been named for the "Banias" 1.6GHz Pentium M, and thus is likely American.
The 10th Card Professor is Kitamori Reiko, who appears to have been named for the "Northwood" 800MHz P7 Pentium 4, and thus is clearly Japanese.
The 11th Card Professor is (are?) Richie Merced, who appears to have been named for the "Merced" 800MHz Itanium IA-64, and Depre Scott, who appears to have been named for the "Prescott" 3.4GHz 90nm Pentium 4, and both are thus likely American.
That's 10 out of 12 Card Professors who are (most likely) American... :D

Heh, that's pretty cool. Takahashi, Itou, and Kageyama must really like (or possible dislike?) America. Although I'm leaning more toward "like" after hearing the Takahashi/Hellboy story.

The creature does look like the same creature that attacked Kouyou. It might also give Jaden a personal reason to fight the big bad. The Big Saturn looks wierd. Shame I'll have to wait until it gets translated to enjoy it. Also a Chazz and Bastion duel next time, lets hope Bastion plays Fire Dragon (poperly won't)

An explanation of the new chapter by Primuler on Janime. :)
]Some time in 20th centuary, a being remembers that it was sealed in there some time ago by priests. It says that if it had proper body, breaking the seal would have been nothing and it wants to see light. He says that he won't forgive those priests. Some people breaks seal by accident and the dark being says in gratitude of releasing him, he is going to take control of those people.
Back to present, Kaiser comes out of a helicopter, saying that it has been 2 months he left DA. An American boy named David Love (or Rabb) says that the Academia is in such a dangerous place with a smoking volcano that is inactive. The girl called Reggie Mackenzie says that the place is more forceful than the one she saw in picture. She says that DA is like a homeland to Kaiser. She is looking forward to seeing duelists here.
In the Academia, Judai and his friends talks about Sho's brother coming back and about Fubuki. At that moment, Chronos announces that there will be a pre-tournament for upcoming tornament which is tomorrow. On Sunday(which is tomorrow), all the students who wants to participate, wanders around Academia and duel each other. At the end of the day, all the students who participated hands in the memory card of their duel disk that contains record of duels to their teachers and the top 8 will be allowed to enter the tornament. Also, it is not allowed to duel same student several times. And the one who wins tournament will be given a chance to duel Kaiser as champion. If that person wins Kaiser, that person won't have to take mid-term exam(which is really great deal).
In Principal's office, Samejima says sorry for opening tournament like this right after he returned and Kaiser says it's okay. The transfer students asks if it is okay if they enter the tournament and Samejima says yes. David says that even he never dueled Kaiser and he won't hand the chance over to Mac as well and laughs. Midori notices that both of them are wearing matching earrings and gets annoyed by the fact that they're too grown up for their age. Also, she's wondering how good they are at dueling as they were good enough to come here.
Back with Judai he asks Misawa to duel him first tomorrow and Misawa says he doesn't want to duel Judai in pre-tournament. He says that their least goal is to enter tournament so they should decrease the risk by not dueling each other. Asuka says that she won't duel them too. She says she wants to enjoy the tournament as well. Sho says he will enter the tournament as well. He would like to challenge his onii-san to a duel. Judai says that everyone's final goal is to duel Kaiser and all of them promises to meet in tournament.
Next day, Judai says that he woke up late and complains that Sho didn't wake him up. On the other side of island, Sho wanders around in forest and says to himself that things are turning out rather nicely as he won three times in a row now. At that moment, David challenges Sho into a duel. Before they duel, David asks Sho if he knows about Duel spirits. Sho remebers Judai telling him about it. However, he just says he doesn't know about them since something about him didn't feel good. David apologizes for asking stupid question and they begin the duel.
On the other side, Misawa challenges Manjyome into a duel, saying that it would have beem preferable if he was the one who stopped Manjyome's winning streak. Manjyome asks if he's going to humiliate him about the duel which he lost to Osiris Red. Misawa says no since he got beaten by same person as well and Manjyome looks surprised. Misawa is using this oppertunity as revenge. And after that they begin the duel.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle the main tournament itself, and I'm glad that they limited it to 8 duelists plus Kaiser so that it won't take 80 bajillion years, but it's still going to take a decent chunk of time and that makes me worry a bit. It'll be good reading I'm sure, but hopefully they'll be able to go on to do more rather than skip straight to the final arc like how the original manga went straight to Memory World after the marathon known as Battle City.

Unlikely, This big bad is already better than Anubus, in every way. Also a mini tournement sounds good, better when we know who will be in it.
Additional Comment:
Just managed to read the manga on Janime thanks to the English scan. The Big Bad mentions he doesn't have a body because his Lynogram(Tabley) was destroyed by the priests, so the Big Bad is a duel monster maybe Diabound?

Maybe this will be a way of making up for the horrible lack of plot in the Yu-Gi-Oh! movie. Takahashi DID create the character designs for Anubis, not to mention Anubis is one of the only important Egyptian aspects that the original manga never touched on very much. (Since Shadi was a servant of Anubis, could he be returning as well? If so, AWESOME!).
Anubis with development could still = Awesome villain. I was actually very fond of his design before seeing the terrible movie in which he did nothing.

The story is very intriguing. Shame poor Syrus got beaten so quickly - guess no fight with his brother then...
By the way, did anyone notice that the GX artist gives all the ladies massive....well, you know. It's amazing that they haven't snapped in two yet, they must really be top-heavy.... I'll shut up now.

Don't you know that women in animé have mechanically-strengthened spines? :p
Hah. Just kidding; you're right, but that's pretty common in shônen animé. And, well, it's art.
