You prolly just need to train up a bit more. I don't remember Zook being that big a deal.

Thug Zook guards the entrance to the Cipher Lair. Is that where you are? Did you just get off the S.S. Libra and have your snag machine stolen by Team Snagem, and then went to the Cipher Lair to battle Zook?

The guards won't let you pass after you beat him the first time, so don't let that freak you out. He has a shadow Zangoose that you'll be able to snag later on.

After the first time you beat him you'll get one of those messages from SECC telling you what to do next. I think you go to Pyrite and talk to him for the next sidequest. Hope this helps.

that was my exact problem, I wasn't strong enough.

I just recently beat the game, snagging all but 2 shadow Pokemon at Citadark Isle, those being Rhydon and Tauros. luckily I can do the final battle as much as I want, so I have another chance to get them.

You can go to Mt. Battle and train there for awhile if you want, if your Pokemon are still weak.
