View Full Version : sad story-blown out of Western Cave

I was hanging around the 98th floor of Western Cave, when I got a series of messages: "it's coming" "it's approaching" etc. What came was an "unseen force" that blew me out of Western Cave, took all my money, half my items (including Friend Bow), and lost me a new recruit to my party.

I compounded this disaster by turning off the Game Boy, thereby losing the rest of my items being carried, and sending my team members back to original levels.

Maybe this series of messages, and the consequence, happens whenever you stay too long in any dungeon?

My twofold purpose was to find a King's Rock (to evolve my Slowbro) which is supposed to be in a Kecleon Shop, and to catch a Charizard (since Walrein was at leverl 92, and carrying a Friend Bow).

This third time thru Western Cave there was only ONE Kecleon Shop. And did not recruit Charizard yet.

Yep. Happened to me too. We are only allowed to stay on any given dungeon floor for a certain number of steps or amount of time, then come the warnings and if they are not heeded we get blown away. It is the game's way of enforcing we don't stay on the same floor I guess.

If at all possible, carry the x-ray-specs in your bag. as soon as you get to a new floor check out if there is a Kecleon shop (and at the same time where other items are). This will ensure you give yourself every chance to get shop items. You do not have to walk around with them on unless you want to...just take a quick look. You'll know a Kec shop from the cluster of dots in the same little area. Sometimes there may not be a lot of items in a shop but this technique worked well for me.

BTW, Char is my number one pick in this game by far. it's Lv 5 HEat Wave is awesome and with a frustration TM or two can really get you far.

Got Warnings?

The trouble is that the "warnings" just say something is coming. For all I knew, it was something I would want to recruit, instead of a true sign that I needed to get off the floor.

Anyway, I've got another Friend Bow, and can try for Charizard again.

No need to worry. Just don't hang out too long if you do get the warning. And if you do hang at the same floor that long then chances are you'll always know where the stairs are lol. As far as I know, this goes for other dungeons (maybe all of them) not just western cave.

Got warnings?

Lv 50 should be plenty. Mew will be at Lv 40 and I think it's the highest lv you'll face in Buried Relic. You'll need to get the 3 parts (one from each Regi) that makes the Music Box. Do not equip it, just have it in your tool box and Mew can appear Randomly on floors 38 - 98. Mew will always be one of the original monsters when the floor is created and can appear in monster houses. Keep an eye out for the message 'Mew has transformed' as a good clue that it is around. Naturally, all of the other rules for recruiting apply (like you must have the friend area too, be next to it, your leader needs to deal the fainting blow etc.)

Mew is one of the most difficult to recruit simply because you never when you're going to encounter it. Lots of patience and some good luck will be needed. It's possible to go thru all of the floors and not even encounter him. Meh. Be persistent.

One other thing. Always have an escape orb. When you're finally lucky and get Mew, don't screw around. Escape out! Hope this helps.

Got Mew?
