Gaara [Snad Barrier]?

I don't see why some people think this card is better than other Gaaras.

I run [Overflowing Madness] in my deck (it's in my sig), and I don't see any reason to run [SB] over it.

I know there has to be something I'm missing. Can anyone clarify?

You'd be surprised just how often his effect can screw with some of the best Ninja effects. For example, just the other day my Dosu [Sonic Impact] and usually stronger Zabuza teams were getting delayed by Gaara's effect. Dosu was useless and Zabuza had to do it the slow way when he couldn't just discard Gaara. The Sand Barrier version is one of the ones that doesn't need to hurt his teammates to do something and is more versatile than the [Conversation] version that just fetches "Sand Cocoons"....

Gaara of the Desert (Overflowing Madness) is a great card, but in some cases Gaara of the Desert (Sand Barrier) is just better.

As Meb9000 mentioned, his effect can come in handy in many situations.

If he's battleing against Dosu [Sonic Impact], he will not get injured from Dosu's effect. If he's battleing against Zabuza and is injured, he's not discarded unless it's an outstanding victory on Zabuza's part. There are many Ninja in the game that cannot do anything against Gaara [Sand Barrier]. The only problem with him is that many of those Ninja that don't effect him arn't widely played. Dosu [Sonic Impact] and Zabuza [Demon of Cloud Village] are the two biggest played cards that would not effect Gaara [Sand Barrier].

i myself have alway's made a deck with gaara in it. overflowing maddness is good for one thing, filling spot's in my trade binder. compared to sand barrier there is no reason to run overflowing maddness unless the deck is a genin rush deck. my latest example of how good sand barrier can really be is in a tournament i was in friday my sand barrier sand coffined a team that had the 3ed hokage(apm) and the only thing the dude who i was playing could do was look down smiling. conversation is only good in pure wind deck's because he deck thin's fast and his effect can be sort of abused to a point.
