Hiya, thanks to anyone who helps me out with this cos I really need the advice.

The reason I'm posting this is because I relaised when I pick my pokemon's movesets in the past I picked them for the individual pokemon rather than team planning or anything, which is very foolish of me, and also I think my entire game just lacks strategy all together and is not very well thought out.

Basically, I'm a sentimental chap and I like to use certain pokemon, however I've yet to find a way to make any combination of these work with decent movesets.

So if you don't mind me telling you, who I've got short listed at the moment and briefly explain some stuff, if you more knowledgable players can help me out with some awesome strategy, that would be great.

Charizard: I love this guy, I have always had one on my team right from the days of RBY. I'm trying branch out into strategy by using moves like Dragon dance, belly drum, or swords dance, but so far I havent found that winning moveset yet. I would have a hard time axe-ing my Charizard for sure.

Fearow: My other favourite I would also have a hard time parting ways with. I eventually got sick of double teaming and decided to play my fearow as a lead pokemon, and use either drill peck, hyper beam or toxic, to inflict some quick damage. Fearow's more than capable of delivering quick hits, but needless to say it is very riskay!

Cloyster: I used to love cloyster but now I find myself slightly disenchanted with him. I really loved his high defense, but a low HP kind of nullifies it. I liked to think swagger would be good, as it can take the damage from the high attack....but as it has such a low HP... I'm getting ready to give cloyster the boot but if you can save him I would be greatful too!

Electrode: My amazing speedster whom I find awesome! A quick thunderwave, a lightscreen, a few thunderbolts and the KABOOM! I think electrode is my most sucsessful pokemon, but if you can suggest better moves for him I would be really pleased. There is no chance i would ever get rid of my electrode e v e r!

Ursaring: He's a new addition, and I've been experiamenting with rest and sleep talk along with snore. I havent had him too long but i really like him and would love to know how far he can go!

Claydoll: I do like claydoll, but I havent a clue how best to use him. I use his cosmic power and also earthquake and psychic, but as I say, if you know that there is a better moveset, please share!

Exeggutor: I didtched him after the special stat split but would consider having back. I loved the fact that sleep powder was so handy, but I have no clue how to use a modern exeggutor!!

Golem: Explosion, I loved it, devestating. Earhtquake and rockslide too. I would definately consider having golem back on the team, so if anyone can suggest a good set for him... :-)

Other pokemon I would also consider using are: Xatu, Umbreon, Vaporeon, Nidoking, Tauros, Hypno, Tentacruel, Cacturne, Gengar, Dusclops, Glaile and I am quite open minded...

Pokemon I would avoid are: Starmie, Alakazam, Blissey, Metagross, Ubers, Legendaries, Parasect, Dugtrio, Jynx...

(P.s. I am fully aware that the ubers and Metagross, Alakazam, Blissey and Starmie are used because they frankly kick ass and are awesome, but I hate having the same team as everybody else, it drives me bananas, so please dont have a go at me, I know they are fantastic and that there is no good reason not to use them other than that I am wierd, but I like to use the pokemon I think look cool, or that I like just cos it makes the game more fun for me, and I like to have a bit of difference from everybody) :o

Thanks for baring with me and please dont lay into me if I sound like a complete amatuer, after all that's why I need help from you guys, :D

Right so I've been experimenting and heres what I got.

Fearow: Sunny Day, Scary Face, Drill Peck, Hyper Beam

Charizard: Roar, Fire Blast, Earthquake, Swords Dance

Ursaring with Lum Berry: Double Edge, Earthquake, Rest, Sleep Talk

Electrode (with Lum Berry): Thunderbolt, Thunderwave, Light Screen, Explosion

Umbreon: Faint Attack, Psychic, Mean Look, Confuse Ray (I was looking at wish and protect or baton pass and substitute but i dont know how to work it on there properly)

Golem: Block, Earthquake, Explosion, Rock Slide.

It's working a bit better but I still need clever people's advice. :D

No offense, but that's pretty freaking bad. For that team try this:

Fearow @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Drill Peck
Return
Steel Wing
Quick Attack

Charizard @ Salac Berry
Adamant Nature
252 Atk/136 Spd/120 SpAtk
Belly Drum
Flamethrower
Earthquake
Double Edge

Ursaring @ Leftovers
6 Hp/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly Nature
Swords Dance
Eathquake
Return
Focus Punch/Facade

Electrode @ Leftovers
Rash Nature
126 Atk/252 Spd/126 SpAtk
Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
Light Screen/Substitute
Explosion

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
252 Hp/126 Def/126 SpDef
Wish
Protect
Toxic
Baton Pass

Golem @ Leftovers
Adamant nature
252 Hp/200 Atk/52 Def
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Double Edge
Explosion

You need a special sweeper

Fearow @ Choice Band
- Drill Peck
- Return
- Quick Attack
- Steel Wing

If you want to take the time to get a Hidden Power, use HP Ground > Steel Wing.

Charizard @ Salac Berry
- Belly Drum
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Substitute

Ursarig @ Leftovers
- Earthquake
- Return
- Focus Punch
- Swords Dance

Electrode @ Liechi Berry
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Explosion
- Substitute

Umbreon @ Leftovers
- Curse
- Baton Pass
- Toxic
- Substitute

Golem @ Choice Band (ROCK HEAD ONLY)
- Explosion
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Meh >> Those Pokemon all suck, except for Umbreon and Charizard. :/

Ursaring
Adamant
252 HP, 252 Attack

Sleeptalk
Rest
Facade
Hidden Power [Ghost]

This set leaves you vulnerable if you're asleep against a normal type/ghost type,
as you'll have only a 1/3 chance to hit them.

Otherwise, you can try Earthquake/Focus Punch instead of Ursaring,
which will still screw you against the Gengar.

Yeah. If you don't like Facade coming from a Sleeping Pokemon,
receiving Guts and STAB, and coming from 130 base attack,
then go for:

Ursaring@Choice Band
252 HP 252 Attack
Earthquake
Focus Punch
Hidden Power [Ghost]
Return

He's too slow for swords dance.

Well, you could always go with a special 'Zard, but I honestly prefer the Bellyzard. Oh, everything's for NetBattle here(my fixes), so if you can't get these things ingame, substitute different things in that you think will go good in the spot. Example-instead of Belly Drum on Zard, go with Swords Dance.

Charizard (F) @ Salac Berry
Trait: Blaze
EVs: (HP divisible by 4) / 252 Atk / rest in speed
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Flamethrower
- Earthquake
- Substitute/Hidden Power [Flying]/Sunny Day
- Belly Drum

Once you've got your HP down to 1/4, the Salac will kick in, and so will Blaze, increasing your fire moves further. With Sunny Day, I'm pretty sure you'll do 4x damage with fire attacks on neutral hits. Max attack with EQ is fun, and Earthquake/Flamethrower hits a lotta things.

I'd go with Dodrio over Fearow, because Dodrio has access to Haze, but otherwise, I'd go with

Fearow (F) @ Choice Band/Leftovers
Trait: uh..
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant/Jolly Nature
- Drill Peck
- Double-Edge/Return
- Hidden Power [Fighting/Bug]/Toxic
- (filler)/Pursuit

Don't use Toxic unless you're using lefties. Also, don't use Hyper Beam/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon/Frenzy Plant(elemental hyper beams). Here's why-

Blastoise used Hydro Cannon-40% damage
Opponent used thunderbolt-60% damage
Blastoise can't retreat or attack
Opponent gets you again with thunderbolt

Blastoise used Surf-25% damage
Opponent used Thunderbolt-60% damage
Blastoise can now either do another 25%(this is hypothetical) or retreat

Hydro Cannon, Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant, and Hyper Beam are 2 turn moves, and on the second turn you can do absolutely nothing. So, in 2 turns, you can do one move that has a base power of 150(225 on Fearow because of STAB[Same-Type-Attack-Bonus]), or you can do 2 moves that are at let's say, 102(Return, max happiness, or frustration, max hatred) twice, and on Fearow, because both Hyper Beam AND Return are Normal moves, and Fearow's part normal, the STAB applies, making Return an effective 153 base power move. So, to review-

Hyper Beam/elemental hyper beams-2 turns, 150 base power/225 with STAB
Return-1 turn, max base power of 102/153 with STAB, and can do twice in the amount of time Hyper Beam can do one. Overall-306 vs 225.

Agreed about the lower HP... Cloyster's more of a UU(Underused, I think it is at least... not sure what Cloyster is categorized as) Spiker. Spikes/Explosion/Rapid Spin/Whatever... and I don't use Spikers or Rapid Spinners. If you really need an ice type, go with Regice, if you can find it... even though it's legendary and you didn't want those... hum... if you need something with ice beam, get Dragonite.

Ook... Electrode's garbage besides the speed. Moving on from that though-

Electrode @ Leftovers
Trait: Static(can it have that?)
EVs: (395 speed to outspeed maximum speed Jolteon/Crobat/Aerodactyl) / 252 SAtk / rest in Atk
Naive Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave/Hidden Power [Ice/Grass]
- Light Screen/Thunder Wave
- Explosion

W/O HP: Ice/Grass, you're screwed against a lotta pokemon, but whatever. Explosion can do some good damage.

Ursaring: He's a new addition, and I've been experiamenting with rest and sleep talk along with snore. I havent had him too long but i really like him and would love to know how far he can go!

He gets Guts, right? Good for RestTalkers.

Ursaring (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Guts(?)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 (Def/SDef) maybe... unsure on this.
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Return/Double-Edge/Body Slam
- Shadow Ball(if it can learn it... if not, go with HP: Ghost)/Earthquake

So about the umbreon, whats the best way to make use of the baton pass, or the wish?

Also could somebody tell me about belly drum, cos for the uneducated (ie. me) losing half your HP puts you at quite a high risk, so how is the best way to work it from that angle?

Also also, does anyone have any decent suggestions for high special, water types to replace one of my pokemon?

P.S. Cheers again!

For competitive play, I'm not sure about Static.
Soundproof can block those Roaring freaks.

Explosion
Mirror Coat
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power [Ice]

Mirror Coat for quite the damage, and with your remaining HP, explode on the next Pokemon,
or Thunderbolt whatever's left and then explode.

Otherwise, -Mirror Coat +Light Screen

Thunderwave's useless. You use it for the speed drop.

Toxic's an option, to Toxic ground switch-ins, but frankly, meh,
you'd rather HP Ice those.

Gengar:
Ice Punch
Destiny Bond
Thunderbolt
Psychic

Glalie:
Spikes
Ice Beam
Explosion
Crunch/Toxic

Belly drum maxs your attack.
Use it with a VERY fast Pokemon to screw everything in one hit.

Starmie or Milotic.

Poliwrath: Brick Break, Surf, Blizzard, Belly Drum

Claydol: Cosmic Power, Psychic, Rock Slide, Earthquake.

Additional Comment:

Oh and also I canged Fearow for Ursaring now,

I'm using Baton Pass, Mean look, Toxic and Moonlight for Umbreon,
What is better moon light or wish?

Try Belly Drum/Brick Break/Ice Beam/Hidden Power [Ghost]. It'll work better... you could replace IB with Substitute, to help you stay alive while Belly Drumming, and you could put a Salac Berry on it to boost its speed up a tad, once you get down to 25% health.

Claydol: Cosmic Power, Psychic, Rock Slide, Earthquake.

Try something like EQ/Ice Beam/Explosion/Cosmic Power maybe.

If you really wanna screw the opponent over, go with Mean Look, Substitute, Baton Pass, and Wish. First do Mean Look, then use Substitute, praying that they don't break it. Afterwards, Baton Pass to your Poliwrath so it can Belly Drum under the safety of a substitute. If you have to retreat Poliwrath, send in Umbreon, use Wish, and send Poliwrath back out to get the HP back.
