Old guy in sootopolis...

theres a staircase behind a tree in the old mans house in sootopolis, how do u get to the staircase??? the tree is right in front so u cant get past...

its not in mossdeep, its in sootopolis. its just to the right of the pokemon center

This may be a rather ignorant suggestion, but... did you try to use any HM moves on the tree, like cut?

[EDIT] Ah, now I remember, it replaced the old closed door they had in Mossdeep on Ruby and Sapphire because the previous house was replaced with the wireless game corner.

But that's just my opinion. Don't worry about it.
