Breeding Q

This is a hypothetical situation:

Say I breed a Modest PERFECT IV Pikachu with a Modest PERFECT IV Ditto. Will the resulting Pichu also have a Modest nature and PERFECT IV's (as well as Volt Tackle if Pikachu was holding Light Ball)?

I'd help you out if I could...

All I know is that for normal pokemon, the IV values are completely random. When you breed, you are supposed to have overall higher IVs, but I am unsure how it is affected.

If it just took the highest IVs between parents, that'd be awesome. I don't think it works that way though (It might though. I can't really tell.)

I've looked and I don't believe IV's are passed down to the 'children.'

If you want that perfect IV Pikachu your probably gonna have to raise a few until you do, im not sure if its worth the hassle. For in game, I strongly recommend Hidden Power Grass as well, but that's just me. My Pikachu is

Modest
Static
252 SpAtk, 100 HP, 156 Speed [or something like that...]

Probably not the best way to EV train it, but then again I didnt so research on it before hand and I dont feel like starting over :P

Light Screen.

Pikachu is a fun pokemon to raise, just remember its very fragile. One Earthquake from any pokemon will absolutely wipe it away.

Well, I wanted a perfect Sp. ATK IV Pikachu w/ Volt Tackle @ Light Ball. But if IV's aren't passed down completely, then nutz to it.

3 IVs are passed down to the children from the parents. They are random, and the rumor is that 2 come from the mother and 1 comes from the father.

Actually from what I recently found out, the child receives anywhere from 1 to 3 Random IV from the parent (I forget which one, male or female).

Anyways, after much work, I present my perfect Pikachu...CHIDORI:

Modest Nature + PERFECT IV's in Special Attack.

Now for those who don't know just how much work this REALLY is, let me explain:

1) Find MALE Pikachu in Safari Zone
2) Catch MALE Pikachu
3) Pray it is holding a Light Ball
4) Catch Ditto
5) Keep repeating 4 until you get a MODEST Natured Ditto
6) Make them breed...;)
7) Hatch the egg
8) Pray it's Nature is Modest
9) Double Pray it's IV's are maxed for Sp. ATK
10) Repeat 7-9 until completed.
11) Level up the SOB (Rare Candy til about 50)
12) EV Train the SOB
13) DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

In R/S, two genes (randomly) were passed down from the parents. Don't know if that changed in Emerald though.
