View Full Version : What Class to get to 60?

Well, I recently re-installed my game after about a 6 month break and found, to my delight, that my 60 Hunter on Mal'Ganis is still there, decked out in Blues (Raid gear to get leet purplez).
..however, I chose not to play with her (Night Elf Hunter) but instead chose to make a Human Mage. I got him to level 19 in just a few days and it's quite challenging to play a Mage effectively (especially in PvP!).
I was wondering, though--should I stick with my 60 Hunter, or level my Mage to 60 and go with him? I guess I'm asking which class would be more beneficial to groups, especially at high-end isntances. I pretty much know that a Mage is more needed (making water and food is neat ;x), but I'm sooo good with my Hunter (especially at PvP--I can take 2 people at once XD).
Any thoughts/suggestions about this? I plan on playing later today, so I'm just wondering if I should either A.) Level my Mage to 60, B.) Level my new Hunter to 60, or C.) Just play with my already level 60 Hunter.

eh, it depends on you guild for end-game raiding
if i were you, i'd keep the hunter and level the mage, honestly there are way too many hunters and not enough mages

Depends on your guild. My guild is overstocked on mages, rogues, hunters and (surprisingly) priests. If you want to get in groups, pretty good idea to stay away from hunter and rogue, cause they are everywhere. If you always want to get in a group be a mage. A group always needs at least one mage.

I chose the Mage. I even made a Warlock (kind of like a Hunter and Mage put together), but after watching some PvP videos of a Mage and seeing them in Raids, I opted to level mine. He's up to about level 23 right now, and I hope to get halfway to 24 by the end of tonight (stupid college work interfering with WoW ;x).

well this is a tricky situation, but lvling another hunter to 60 is a bad idea. if you have a good guild( clearing bwl and aq 40 is a good sign) you might wanna raid. but, if your guild is working in mc and stuff like that then definately lvl a mage, make sure he is ice too they pwn hardest:)

Go with the Hunter to raid, but if you have free time, then you might as well level the mage.

Well, my Guild has long since disbanded in the many months that I stopped playing, so I'm the lone member of Chaos Legion until I leave and join another Guild.
Of course, this is if I play with my Hunter. I got a Priest and a Warlock to 10, another NE Hunter to 11, and my Human Mage to level 25. I just can't decided on what class to level to 60! argh!
I've been watching Shadow Priest PvP videos and I really like it.. of course, the idea of being just a "healbot" at higher level Raids seems kind of "eh" to me. I want to kill stuff, lol.
The Warlock, though, is something I really like. I get the Mage class and the Hunter class combined, and PvP is so easy (Fear.. dot.. dot.. dot.. fear.. XD). Buuut I dunno. Still up in the air.
Then there's my level 25 Mage questing in Duskwood at the moment. My PvP skills are very subpar (a level 25 Shammy pwned me.. of course, when you attack another player when he/she is attacking a mob.. and crit on all your instant-cast stuff.. yeah, that'd be pretty easy--lol). I'm gonna start running Stockades and Blackfathom Deeps as soon as I finish downloading the patch. XD

The real question is: When the expansion comes out, do you want to get those 10 levels with your already 60, or have to spend a hell of a lot longer to get your low level up there? By the time you get your lowbie up there, people will be past dungeon set and on to t4 and maybe t5, and won't want to include you because of your lame gear. Stick with the hunter, get some easy PvP epics and you'll be set for the expansion.
Also: Hunters own PvP, a hunter with ****ty armor (greens/blues) can top the charts easy. Listen to me, I have gone through all the above after taking a year break. I left when I was in greens, came back to see everyone going for t2/t3. I wasn't good enough to join the raids due to my gear. That's why you need to take advantage of the easy PvP items. Everyone is going to be nearly at the same stage when the expansion comes out. Unless, of course, you aren't 60 at the time of the expansion.

Yes, I decided to just get my Hunter into better gear and weapons. I'm currently raiding Ony/ZG/AQ with my guildies and we will start raiding MC once we get 40+ regular members (people on frequently). We actually tried to 15-man AQ20 (mess around with the first few mobs) but after a LONG organization time and people playing in BG's we disbanded. Still, we took down 5+ mobs pretty easily. That PvP gear REALLY helps. I'm currently saving my honor for the Grand Marshal gear, skilling the Knight Lt. gear.
I'm having fun. ^_^

Honestly, it's best if you'd just start hopping in AB premades and grind out your honor for your Warlord... sorry... Field Marshal (blech) gear. Also, of course, picking up a few High War- eh... Grand Marshall weapons would be a better investment of your time. Molten Core gear will be nearly obsolete come expansion time (few weeks folks) and quickly replaced by blues found in the many dungeons Outland has to offer. They DO make leveling to 61 easier though.
And PvP gear is better than most MC gear... if ya like PvP, no reason NOT to grind honor.
