Has anyone played this yet? I just can't seem to get into it.

I was going to give this a shot, but when I looked at the rules I freaked out. Has anyone seen them yet? All of the stats and rules are so complicated   ! I don't know if I am EVER going to start playing it but if I do I will let you know how it is.

That is the same problem I had. That and the fact that it's an all new collection and it has different rules.

No thanks I'll stick to regular minis

I'd love to play it, but WAAAY too expensive.

yah it is really expensive, it;s one of those games that you can;t collect the entire set unless you want to dish out some major coin, you kind of have to sell the pieces you have to get the peices you need. still the game pieces look absolutely magnificent.

I'd go for a Battlestar Galactica version though

I love the details on the ships. They look awesome. But I collect minis to play not to look at. So there is no point in me getting these. They are TOO pricey.

I love BSG

They are no more pricey than the huge SWM sets. The starter is a bit high, but you are getting some pretty big ships. Granted its gonna hurt if this is a second or third game that you play. THe only downside i have heard about so far is that it is way too dumbed down in the rules dept.

BSG - best show on TV!

What do you mean by way to dumbed down?

There is very little to strategy, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. You dont have to worry about range or cover or who is in front of a target you really want to hit. you just point and shoot (except you dont even have to point). This can be a good thing with some other games you play are strategy intensive, but it seems in this game that the strategy is in squad building and after that you just run full bore ahead.

I find it pretty fun.

I didnt say it couldnt be fun - just that it is very light on the strategy. SWM can be won and lost with a bad move. It seems like this game is just shoot and hope for good rolls with very little strategy outside of squad building.

This is fine if you want a nice fast paced game, and i am looking forward to playing it with my son.

Yeah that is true, but as i always say if you enloy playing the game then it dosen;t matter what flaws are in the game.

The rules aren't that compliated ... in fact, I thought they were pretty simple! The turn sequence is easy, the goal is simple, and there aren't any GOD complex combos like in the Wizards card game.

It is a little pricey, but I've found it's worthwhile to partner up on such things. Go in with a friend to buy the starter kit, then you're only out half price if you decide you don't like it.

Anybody know if there are expansions planned? My cardshop dude says there isn't...

There are no expansions for this. It is a one shot deal. That alone is enough to make people skip it as it will have no support.

I've picked up two boosters so far as my starter isn't coming until Christmas.

Booster 1:
H - Trade Federation Droid Control Ship
R - Wild Karrde
U - A-Wing Starfighter Ace
U - Cloakshape Fighter
C - A-Wing Starfighter
C - Vulture Droid
C - Naboo Starfighter

Booster 2:
H - Commerce Guild Destroyer
R - Millennium Falcon
U - X-Wing Starfighter Ace
U - Cloakshape Fighter
C - SoruSuub Patrol Fighter
C - TIE Intercepter
C - A-Wing Starfighter

I'm rather impressed by the molding and paint on these things and the capitol ships are definetely cool to have around. I have to wait to find out if the game itself is any good though. Cool models, at least.

You pulled some nice ships especially the Wild Karrde, with it's ability to reroll initiative it is almost staple in a light fleet.
