Just got all 8 badges and going to train for along time before I battle the elite 4 and Steven and wanted my team to be at the top of there game as of moves so if anyone can help thanks...
My Team...
Swampert
Absol
Gardevoir
Swellow
Salamence
Aggron
To get most "good" movesets you'd have to breed, EV train, and check IVs.
Wanderer13

I'll get to that when I have time...
I mean as in the moves they learn and tm/hm...
Then go to Serebii and find the 4 strongest moves they learn via level up/TM/HM

I think smogon works better, but its your choice.
Serebii has Pokeddx data on every pokemon, but smogon has the best movesets for every pokemon.
In the end its all about opinion.
but for regualr move sets, I can do that, I think.
Swampert
Earthquake
Surf
Brick Break
Rain Dance{really its just filler, use what you want}
Absol
Bite
Swords Dance
Slash
Shock Wave{ once again, filler}
Gardevior
Physic
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Calm Mind
Swellow
Aerial Ace
Agility
Endeavor
Double Team
Salamence
Dragon Claw
Crunch
Double-Edge
Flamethrower{sadly, since you aren't breeding it can't learn Dragon Dance :(}
Aggron
Iron Tail
Iron Defense
Double-Edge
Earthquake
These are just movesets, well good luck!

Smogon is a good guide to start from, and it's better than hunting and pecking for various moves. Yes, it can work in-game.
Just look from there, and.. don't use bleakdragon's sets. Please. Don't.

Why? It is just for beating the Elite 4 its not like he will use them in a tournament.
Smogon is competitve movesets, which are inconvenent for ingame.

Swampert
Absol
Gardevoir
Swellow
Salamence

First set for the pokemon is ingame, second is for Netbattle stuff.
Swampert @ Leftovers/whatever
Earthquake/Surf(or Muddy Water if you must)/Ice Beam/Endeavor
Swampert @ Leftovers, adamant nature, 252 atk/evs in hp/defenses, Earthquake/Curse/Return/HP: Ghost(for gengar...)
Absol-I can't help with Absol.
Gardevoir @ Leftovers/whatever
Psychic/Calm Mind/(some ice move/fire move/electric move if you can)/Encore(or recover)
Swellow @ leftovers/whatever
Endeavor/Aerial Ace/Double Team(I hate double team, but it's a good move ingame-just NEVER use it on Netbattle or against competitive players!)/whatever
I don't know.
Salamence @ Leftovers/Choice Band/whatever
Dragon Claw/Flamethrower(or Fire Blast)/Aerial Ace/whatever
Salamence @ Leftovers, Adamant/Jolly nature, 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 HP, Rock Slide/Earthquake/Dragon Dance/HP: Flying
Aggron @ Leftovers/whatever
Rock Slide/Iron Tail/Earthquake/whatever
Competitive(player vs player) movesets are different-for example, here's a few for Salamence, plus the strategies.
Salamence @ Choice Band
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp. Atk)
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Brick Break/Fire Blast/Dragon Claw/Hydro Pump(yes, salamence can learn hydro pump-it takes breeding though.
- Hidden Power [Flying]/Aerial Ace
Choice Band is a powerful item-it multiplies your attack by 1.5, but it ONLY allows the use of one move while the pokemon is out(you have to switch it to use another move). Take advantage of his high attack and use Rock Slide for fliers, Earthquake for electrics/steels/metagross, Brick Break for Ice types and for anything you really want to use it on, the flying move for fighters/grass types/whatever. The flying move ALSO takes advantage of the STAB, or Same-Type-Attack-Bonus, which adds 50% of the move's power to its base power, so for example-If you have a Swampert with Hydro Pump, Hydro Pump's base power becomes 180 instead of 120.
Salamence @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature (+Sp. Atk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Wish/Crunch
A special Salamence, using special moves. Not much else to say, except that it's pretty fun to play with.
Salamence @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp. Atk)/Jolly Nature (+Spd, -Sp. Atk)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]/Aerial Ace
- Rock Slide
A total MONSTER-after a couple of Dragon Dances, his already high as hell attack and nice speed will rise beyond comparison-Salamence can get up to 1614(I think) attack with Dragon Dance, making almost every move he does to any pokemon a definite kill. Careful though, as DD Salamence is VERY open to Ice Beam, the killer of all dragons.

shouldn't absol have areial ace and shadow ball?
reapsoul964
11-09-2006, 08:58 PM
yeah, that might work.
Absol @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp. Atk)
Aerial Ace/Swords Dance/Crunch(STAB :-\)/Shadow Ball
sounds decent to me, but the only dark pokemon i'll ever use is Houndoom.

Flamethrower/Rock Side
Aerial Ace
Earthquake

This is obviously ingame. Don't suggest Dragon Dance for ingame movesets unless the person says that they're willing to take the time to breed.
and I've read a lot of your posts, why are you always so harsh?

Excuse me? How is this post harsh?
Recommending a move-set is HARSH?
If you aren't referring to THIS specific post, then don't post this here.
PM me and tell me I'm harsh, whatever.
Not recommend Dragon Dance because it's in-game?
What's so hard about breeding a Dragon Dance?
MAY I remind you that you suggested EVs spread?
So you're saying, basically, that EV training a Pokemons is easier
than training a Gyarados to 50 or so and breed with a Bagon?
Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat made SO much sense.
[I am referring to this Absol you recommended]
[If you didn't recommend it for In-game, then whatever]
I'm sorry but no. He NEVER said he doesn't want to breed.
Oh yeah, if you can't train a Gyarados to lv50, because it's SO hard
[beside, you can already catch them at high levels]
then just replace that with some lame filler move.

Be more specific.
First of all, Dragon Breath and Claw on the same Pokemon is a NO,
because they are of the same type. No point.
Crunch is meh. It's special, he shines more at physical.
Double-edge is fine, but there ARE better options.
If you REFUSE completely to breed, then go for:
Salamence - Adamant/Jolly/Whatever makes you happy
Aerial Ace [STAB makes it 90 power]
Earthquake [Because it's earthquake]
Brick Break [Not a must. It only covers Normal & Ice, after all]
Rock Slide [Although you won't be able to get it before the league,
unless you trade, so replace with Dragon Claw/Flamethrower]
Double-Edge COULD stay there, instead of Rock Slide.
No problems.
For types beating.. let's see.
What I offered you covers about 9 types, or 7 with Edge.

Ok that looks good but I wanted to try like Ice Beam and some thunder move...
I could be wrong...
He doesn't learn Ice Beam, and thunder move is only Hidden Power.
There's this Salamence called 'Elemence' [Although I'm seeing a lot less of him]
Basically, if you don't want to breed, make it:
Flamethrower
Crunch
Dragon Claw
Substitute/Hidden Power [Electric/Grass/Whatever]
Something along those lines..
Wanderer13
11-12-2006, 04:06 PM
I could breed but how long does bredding take?
The question is not for 'breeding'.
Breeding is simply putting the two Pokemons to experience fun in the day-care,
and then have an Egg and hatch it.
What you need is getting the specific Pokemon to learn the move
you wanna breed.
For Hydro Pump [Elemence] or Dragon Dance [For the most used Salamence]
you need a Gyarados.
Gyarados learns Hydro Pump at level 40, and Dragon Dance at level 50.
That means you need a level 40/50 Gyarados with that move,
and breed with a Salamence/Shelgon/Bagon.
Then, the born Bagon [lv5] will have those moves.

11-13-2006, 06:01 AM
Incase you do decide to breed the Pokemon passing the move (your Gyarados has to be male) and Bagon/shelgon/Salamence has to be female. If they aren't the right genders then you'll only get Magikarps.
Forgot to add that, although it shouldn't be too much of a problem
finding a female Bagon.

the 4 suck. i beat them with just a lvl 40 pkmn

BreakersRevenge you mean a lvl 59 Salamence(Male) and a lvl 30 Bagon(Female) to breed and a new Bagon what will the offspring learn...will it have Hydro Pump?
ALthought Breaker didn't word it well, I don't see how you get a Male Salamence + a Female Salamence = Hydro Pump
YOU MUST DO ONE OF THESE:
Male Gyrados(lv40) + Female Bagon = Bagon with Hydro Pump
Male Gyrados(lv50) + Female Bagon = Bagon with Dragon Dance
This isn't a hard things to understand. Serebii and alot of other Pokemon sites explain this very well.
Additional Comment:
the 4 suck. i beat them with just a lvl 40 pkmn
I missed this post at first, but you are more ******* stupid than the topic starter.

but that helps alot though, well I do need a Gyrados so when I have time to train that what I'll do thank you Ov3rB14st...
ok sure...like I actually have time to know everything in pokemon...
Since I never said that, I don't expect you to.
I do expect most people to have the common logic to search information sites for how-to of basic mechanics that they aren't familiar with.

At least include the ingame movesets, and read your other posts on many different threads that we've posted the same on, you are really harsh towards the players. And yes, this was not for this thread, but still, I'm tired of seeing it-I'm telling a lot of new players about this place, to help them out, and they're going to leave if we have nothing but a bunch of harsh people helping out. Yes, your movesets are fine, you could just choose to be a bit nicer with your wording. Seriously-look back at all your posts, you'll find what I'm talking about.
He never said he DOES want to breed. What the player specifically said was that he(or she... sorry if I'm wrong there) wanted the best movesets with the TMS/HMS for the Elite Four.
Dragon Dance isn't hard to breed, it just takes time, and a lot of players DON'T want that.
EV training doesn't take time, it's a bunch of battling... and besides, I'm pretty sure I gave INGAME movesets without EVs and NB movesets WITH EVs, just in case.
Please evaluate your tone towards newer players, and players in general.

BreakersRevenge seems to fit into the 1% of the Pojo.com Pokemon Message Board populace that actually knows what he/she is talking about. When I look around here, all I see are bad teams, with bad Pokemon and mediocre movesets. I understand that it's in - game...but, come on.
He never said he DOES want to breed. What the player specifically said was that he(or she... sorry if I'm wrong there) wanted the best movesets with the TMS/HMS for the Elite Four.
The best movesets aren't always obtained by using TM's, and other than Surf, all the other HM's are worthless when it comes to competitive play.
Dragon Dance isn't hard to breed, it just takes time, and a lot of players DON'T want that.
Well, then...a lot of players don't want good Pokemon with good movesets. I mean, Gyarados is the PERFECT breeding partner for Salamence: it learns Hydro Pump, Thrash, Dragon Dance and Twister, ALL OF WHICH SALAMENCE CAN LEARN THROUGH BREEDING.
Please evaluate your tone towards newer players, and players in general.
Why should he? Sometimes, being "harsh" is the only way to get through to people.

Being harsh is no way to get through to people, it just causes pain and anger. Trust me, I've learned that the hard way with my ex-girlfriend and hundreds of other people I've talked to.
Salamence can have good sets without dragon dance. Choice Band.
Duh HMs are bad... and so what, TMs aren't the best... if it's ingame, then use them.
Bad teams? They're ingame. The good teams are all for the competitive players who think pokemon is life, and it's not.
So excuse me for trying to be nicer to new players.

Err that's not what I said. But you have got your answer from Overblast who is a lot better at mechanics than me.
Stealth:
Yeah, just don't forget Aggron has rock head so you can use Double-Edge more effectively.
[It's chance to paralyze VS 35 power..]
You can also get Body Slam by move tutor..
Well, I don't like rest on swampert because they'll switch some special sweeper
[and it better NOT be a grass one or someone with a grass move] while you sleep.
You'll have to either switch him out and lose Curse or die.
Rock Slide is better.
Absol can also do it with Taunt instead of Coat, an Hidden Power [Bug?]
or even Body Slam/Thunderwave.

I said SOMETIMES. I also implied "with some people".
Salamence can have good sets without dragon dance. Choice Band.
In that case, there are better Choice Banders than Salamence (Aerodactyl, Metagross, Slaking), so your argument fails.
Duh HMs are bad... and so what, TMs aren't the best... if it's ingame, then use them.
I don't recall saying that you shouldn't use TM's.

And they're still bad.
The good teams are all for the competitive players who think pokemon is life, and it's not.
Right, because having a good team also means I have no life!
Honestly, how did you arrive at that conclusion? I mean, if you "have a life", then why bother post teams here at all? It's only in-game anyway, right? So stop wasting the bandwidth of the forum with your threads about in-game teams...
If you counter this argument by saying that people post their teams in an attempt to improve them based on the advice they receive here, then you're completely contradicting yourself, because the last time I checked, the sole purpose of a RMT thread was to obtain advice for making the team more competitive...
So excuse me for trying to be nicer to new players.
You're excused.
