View Full Version : Good Leaf Pokemon
Are there any useful basic / stage 1 leaf pokemon that is good to use other than scyther(jungle)? How about team aqua's Seviper? Yanma(the one with shockwave and 0 retreat)? any other suggestions?
I want to make a "haymaker-ish" type of deck with more basics / stage 1s with good stats and relatively high attack.....but it should be pure leaf. i prefer some "poison" leaf pokemon as well as "grass" leaf pokemon, since then i won't have the same weakness (all fire/psychic) for all my pokemon so i will fare really bad against those (at least i have some that won't be weak against them right?)

I always thought Pinsir (Jungle) was a good Haymaker-ish grass Poke. Another great Grass guy is Dark Muk. He has a good Power, good attack, and the low HP can be helped with Rocket's Gym. I don't know though, most grass people need to evolve.
hmm....then i should use evolution mons.....
is this good?
3x Bulbasaur (aqua vs magma)
3x ivysaur (expedition)
2x venusaur (base set)
in combo with
3x treecko (ruby sapphire) the one with tail slap and razor leaf
3x grovyle (ruby sapphire) the one with natural cure poke-power and slash
2x sceptile (ruby sapphire) the foil version, with solarbeam and lizard poison
since i want to use both scpetile (that version) and venusaur (that version), is this a good combination in my deck? this is mainly cuz my friend gave me a venusaur when i bought my grass/water ruby sapphire precon deck - which came with the foil sceptile. is this combo not as good as the venusaur, meganium combo? (the meganium with wild growth poke-power, the G turns to GG)

No not really. I would do 4/4/4 on the Sceptile line and run 2/2 on the Sceptiles. Both have the same HP. Venusaur's attack is better (guaranteed 60) but costs 1 more. But the Sceptile line has a Resistance to Water. I'd stick with 1 line and use the space for more Trainers.
And Roselia is the only other BBP G Pokémon i can think of off the top of my head. It's 1st attack gets more G energy into play.
wuts BBP G pokemon? (im guessing the G is grass....but wuts BBP)
o and um.... if BBP means like haymaker-ish pokemon (what i mean is good basic pokemons with decent HP, attack, retreat, etc.), is team aqua's seviper good? 80 HP is highest grass, non-ex ive seen (ive seen very little tho), and should i use chancey? how about some colorless haymaker basic pokemons? preferably i want leaf basic haymaker-ish pokemon.....but if thats like impossible......can someone list out good stage 1 leaf pokemon? im currently using cacturne......is that ok?

BBP means Big Basic Pokemon, which grass has very few of. But BJJ is right. Stick with one line and use space for trainers. Usually combos with two stage 2's is hard to pull off, and even harder to keep in the game long. There are lots of colorless pokes you could use though. Wigglytuff (Jungle) is a big haymaker-type. Chansey is really good and my favorite (especially w/ Recycle energy).

From older sets and newer sets, Grass Pokémon are still a force to be reckoned with...
Here's my picks:
--Sceptile (Actually the variants have different HP: The holo, 120; the non-holo, 100): Go 2 of each, with Rare Candy mainly.
--Roselia: A nice PBBP (Pretty Big Basic Pokémon) with the ability to get more (G) energy in play. Can get in "Windblast" Theme Deck.
--Dark Muk: Still an evil card from Rocket. It's uncommon--get 2 or 3. His power and attack, combined with Energy Removal or Super Energy Removal, can still tangle up many of the game's best Pokémon.
--Scyther/Pinsir: Either of these Jungle boys can be brutal. Scyther is preferred due to his free retreat, but Pinsir's 50 damage Guillotine is nothing to scoff at. (It's expensive by today's energy standards, but still OK.)
The only problem is resistance from Metal Pokémon. You may wish to splash in some 'Colorless' Fire Pokémon. Base Ponyta can deal 20 for 2 of any energy, worth 40 on a Fire weak Steel type, for example.
Other cards to consider include Sceptile ex (not sure what you'd cut...all the Sceptile are very playable) and the Crobat line. (which offers Fight Resistance)
I'd offer a decklist, but as this is the Single Card Discussion forum, it seems out of place.
-Kooper, who loves all the Sceptile cards!
i see.......kooper, plz go to the deck discussion to rate my deck plz.

Hey what about Meganium from Neo 1 set? The one with Wild Growth so all grass energy attached to your grass pokemon are doubled? That works great with Persir and you can play Low Pressure System to increase the HP of you G Pokemon by 10. that sound good to me:)

actually, a card I like is the Neo Discovery Hoppip, caus it can do 20 damage with one grass energy... but 30 hp sucks... but I still use it to start out a battle...

before i say anything, i'd like to say i dont have much experience with people out of my block, and all the pokemon cards (around 1600) belong to me.
what about sceptile ex? i like it. 150 hp, and poison ring. green heal is sweet too.
i thought that running 4/4/4 was bad! i thought 4/3/2 or 4/3/3 was enough?
whats low PS? i know high, but not low.
hoppips nice, and the sucesive kiploom has 60 hp, needs 1 energy for 2 attacks, and has no retreat cost.
please don't kill me if i don't give good advice (i try)

pinsir from hidden legends kills rare ninjask and shedinja are good, and make a combo (little damage from basics non from evos or ex's) its a good combo i made up that just might be an archetype

Pinsir from the hidden legends is good, more in unlimited then in modified. He has 70HP, retreat of one and a weakness against fire. His attack does 30 for 2 energy and he has a pokébody that lowers the damage done by basic pokémon with 30. By by scyther, tyroque...

Low Pressure System gives {L} and {G} Pokemon 10 extra HP.
Personally, I'd run an Lightning/Grass deck. SS Electabuzz, Base Set Electabuzz, and there's a Magneton that gets back dumped energies. Combine that with the Water-resistant Sceptile, you've got a good anti-Water deck. But yeah, if you plan to run a mono-Grass Haymaker-ish deck, Jungle Scyther, Jungle Pinsir, Dark/Fossil Muk, and Base Set Venusaur are your best bets.
