I've been playing around with different offensive tyranitar builds (Physical attacker, special attacker, dragon dancer...), and I always had the same problem...

Me and my friends only play double-battles. Since I play a sand-storm/quake team, my friends got it in their head that they need to kick tyranitar's ass upon sight, and usually have both pokemon double-team him (Usually resulting in death or near death for poor t-tar). So I wanted to try a tyranitar that can take a lot of hits before going down. His attack is so high that even without EVs, it should be enough to cause a lot of damage...

Anyway, I got two different builds, and I want your opinion which you think would be better?

Tyranitar
Nature: Adamant
EVs: Defense/Special defense
With this way, t-tar's attack is garunteed to be over 300, regardless of IV's. 300 is more than enough attack power to wreak havoc, and with buffed up defenses, t-tar isn't going down easily.

Tyranitar
Nature: Impish
EVs: HP/Special defense
This route would allow t-tar to take more special hits than the previous build. The physical defense would still be somewhat good... 287 if the IV's in defense are perfect. The attack would still be somewhat good... it could hit 300+ attack with really high end attack IV's.

Anyway, what are your opinions on making a tank-based tyranitar? Any ideas for alternate tank builds would be cool as well. I don't mind raising lots of t-tars, I like raising them :), so don't hesitate to gimme ideas to try out.

you could give it moves like: Dragon Dance
attack moves[earthquake, aerial ace, dragon claw or rockslide]

Well... obviously...

I was looking more for advice on EVs and stuff... DD-tar just failed miserably when I play against my friends... Boah too... I need a t-tar build that can take a lot of hits on the field.

T-tar has enough attack that even with no EVs to attack he can dish out tons of damage... I just want help with making t-tar as durable as possible.

Follow Me.

I thought about using follow me to cover a dd-tyranitar, but after looking at who gets follow me... I decided against it... Once togekiss comes out in D/P then maybe... Also, the more common mass target moves, like surf/earthquake happen to be super-effective vs tyranitar... so follow me becomes even less reliable...

I just want help with EVs/Nature to make Tyranitar as durable as possible... my friends like to use pokemon with high speed and either high special or physical attack, so my slower pokemon need to be able to take hits, as they are almost garunteed to be last. I can't just take tyranitar off my team either, since I use a sandstorm/earthquake focused team.

i use the tyranitar as a attacker. usually it kills things before they can kill him.

You could get rid of one pokemon on your team and replace it with a Ninjask with brightpowder and swords dance and agility/ double team with baton pass. after that, Tyranitar will be unstoppable.

Agility? Haha.
Double Team? Muhahaha.
Yeah, of course he will.
Wait, what are those Ninjask's chances of survival?
0.5%?

The problem here, is that tyranitar is slow. DD fixes that, but if two pokemon double-team him in a double-battle, he will die the turn he does dragon dance. Well, most of the time he will die...

Sounds good for 1v1, although for 1v1 I just use a Dragon dancer. Since I just downloaded netbattle, I'll try that out... but there is a problem with ninjask surviving...

I'll probably end up doing this with ninjask.
