Hello.

I started my game with Mudkip(female), and caught a Marill(male), which is now an Azumarill, and I put them in the daycare center. I walked about for a bit and was presented with a suprise; an egg? The 3 I got were all male Mudkips. How did this happen? Are they always male? How do I get more eggs? Here are my pokemon:

Male:

Minun/Minun
Marshy/Marshtomp
Swampy/Marshtomp
Kippy/Mudkip
Poochyena/Poochyena
Lombre/Lombre
Azumarill/Azumarill

Female:

Muddy/Mudkip
Beautifly/Beautifly
Abra/Abra
Sableye/Sableye

Thank you.:D

You keep walking to get eggs...the egg depends on the number of steps you take...also with hatching.

No they won't all be male...but female has a 33% chance of happening...

They WILL all be Mudkips though...Female determines the Pokemon...and Male determines the moves.

Keep trying you'll get a female. The gender ratio between male/female differs by species (assuming it has a gender). For the starter pokemon, I think it is only around a 12% chance to get a female.

Got cash?

I just got a female Sandshrew. Do nicknames change the pokemon? Where does it get it's extra attacks from? My Mudkips all knew water gun when they hatched.

Thanks.:)

here is how breeding works

-Female determines pokemon, note it will be the lowest evolve form.

-Male determines moves that the baby is able to learn, like TMS and HMS.

- Gender is determined at random.

- Nature is determined weridly, like if the baby is male then it has the males nautre and with gender random it is hard to get the perfect nature.

- Remeber male passes moves? Well some pokemon can learn really powerful moves this way, like a Larvitar can learn Dragon Dance by breeding a female Tyrainitar with a Male pokemon who knowes Dragon Dance.

-Not all pokemon can breed, such as Legendaries.

-You can't always breed every pokemon toghter, there are certain groups for each pokemon, http://serebii.net/games/breed.shtml that is a site to serebii's main breeding page.

that is all you need to know, I think there are some more but I am not sure.

I just hatched a female sandshrew by breeding sandshrew (female) and poochyena (male). It didn't learn any extra attacks (except mabye sand-attack).

Well, you have to have the pokemon HAVE the moves on them to do that. They won't learn anything the parents don't have.

Breeding for moves is a thing you should wait for when you have stronger more evolved pokemon. This way you can take advantage of the pokemons movepool.

Anyway...not ALL moves can be learned even if you CAN breed with that pokemon.

If you wish to know what egg moves can be learned, head to serebii.net and check the Pokedex. Or, ask me a specific pokemon and I will let you know.

Only the basic pokemon can learn egg moves...not evolves...meaning if you ask about a Salamence...I will give you the moves for Bagon...
