Here is a thread that will be only about the distinctios between Uber pokemon and legendary pokemon. Here is what I think, after some careful re-evaluating of my previous beliefs.
Requirements for Uber:
1) pokemon must have base stat total above 600*
2) pokemon must have legendary status or the name wobbuffet
3) pokemon are banned for competetive play/Battle Frontier**
*This does not apply for Wobbuffet
**Lati@s is considered Uber, but can be used in Battle Frontier
Requirements for Legendary
1) pokemon must be one-of-a-kind
2) pokemon cannot breed*
3) pokemon is listed near the bottom of pokedex
4) pokemon cannot fight in Battle Frontier**
*This does not apply for Manaphy
**Lati@s, Regi trio, Dog trio, and the Bird trio are considered Legendary, but may fight in Battle Frontier.
Post your comments or differing opinions, but no flaming.
Even though I said 600, I just guessed it.
I wouldn't build on it, if I were you.
If you consider the 4th generation, then Manaphy can breed and is, I beleive, considered a legendary.
As much as people claim Zapdos isn't a Uber, but with his
high stats I still consider it 'cheap'. [Cheap =/= Uber, or at least not always.]

Oh, I looked at the base stats for the trio pokemon and picked the "X00" number that was greater than that of their base stats. 600 just happened to be that one. (I didn't want the trio pokemon to go under "Uber")
I wasn't considering the 4th generation, so thanks for the Manaphy thing.

Well, I'm willing to talk about this in a civilized manner.
An uber is a Pokemon that is too powerful for the standard metagame and wrecks the balance. Usually, an uber has great stats, movepool, and/or typing. Ubers like Mewtwo are able to beat 95% of the other Pokemon out there, which is simply overpowered. Wobbuffet has the Encore + Shadow Tag combo, which allows it to kill at least one Pokemon in the hands of a decent player. These Pokemon require you to use overspecalized counters or other uber Pokemon, which only stagnates the metagame and makes it even more limited than it is now.
A legendary is a Pokemon that is spoken of in legends in-game. A legendary is not a Pokemon that is only obtainable a limited number of times; if so, Metagross, Snorlax, and Sudowoodo would be legendary. Generally, legendaries have higher stats than most Pokemon, but they are able to be taken down by commonly used Pokemon. They do not disrupt the game balance and are not cheap; they should be allowed in the normal metagame. For in-game players, legendaries are allowed in the Battle Frontier (with the exception of Celebi and Jirachi; Celebi has seven exploitable weaknesses and can be killed by multiple standards while Jirachi has a limited movepool and can also be killed by multiple standards).

Interesting, but your description of "Legendary" has to be modified slightly.
You say that pokemon like Metagross, Sudowoodo, etc. should be legendaries.
Those pokemon are not legendary for the simple reason that They Can Breed. If a pokemon is truly legendary, you should not be able to breed new lv 5 legendaries. The only excepion to this is Manaphy, which can breed with other pokemon, but it's egg does not evolve into Manaphy.
Ahem. You also say that Legendary pokemon are pokemon that are spoken of in legends in-game and do not affect the metagame, should not be cheap, etc. Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Ho-oh, and Lugia are all spoken of as legends in the game, and yet they are all banned for being Uber.
I'm confused as to how you think legendaries aren't cheap and don't disrupt the game.

Hey, just a sec, I thought that the Ubers include Rayquaza, Groudon and Kyogre because they aren't even allowed in the Battle Frontier. Their stats are also way too high. I don't know anything about the EV thing but when I caught them at 70, all their stats were above 250 with the capability to increase.

Ubers are more than just "too strong to compete in battle frontier" there's more to it than that.
