I have a simple (yet perhaps complex) question for you. What causes people to want to play FMA?

I want to know, give me reasons. What are some good reasons to play FMA? There are lots TCGs out there- why FMA?

This is certainly not a “My TCG is better than yours” hate-thread (I hope :D ). Just want to see some friendly talk about FMA and what it has over the competition.

I had a lot of fun with the "Why Play Magic? (http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=344715)" thread, so I want to see why people play this TCG.

I'm sure it is more than just, "Hmm... I watch the FMA anime, so I'm already a fan- so, I'll play the TCG!" Anime TCG's whose only player base is people who watch the anime- never last. This is not the case with FMA, so what is that makes someone pause and think, “I’m gonna start playing FMA.”? What is it?

Hey, ask this same question over at the Joyride site! It'd be a hoot seeing you blasted for attempting to start a thread that might bad mouth FMA! :D (even if that wasn't your intent, which I don't believe it is, btw).

"Why play FMA"? Good question. Since hardly anyone seems to.

Play FMA because it has unique gameplay that skillfully blends the anime with a good TCG.

It has pretty complex game play, very open field as far as good decks, nice reward system, good competition. I've played alot of TCGs (Doom Trooper, Jihad, Overpower, Magic, DBZ, YuYu, several I can't remember the names of and even pokemon) but this game is alot of fun. It's not like a Magic tourney were 9 out 10 people show up with some deck they saw that won regionals in XXXXX. Almost everyone has thier own deck that varies alot from someone else's deck. Since GenCon we've went from 6 regular players to 9 with anywhere from 2-6 people from out of town showing up.

There was practically no one that played in my area, but people would see up playing, maybe they have also seen the anime, and they get interested. And from what I hear it is steadily growing all over.

According to the "Why Play Magic?" thread, MTG has a diverse metagame and people were able to provide statistics to back it up. Perhaps you can back up your claims about FMA (and its superior metagame) with some evidence?:)

There's a link to the forums.

I just love how the cards look and the gameplay is pretty easy to learn. There's so many cards that can combo off of each other... :D

I cannot give you stats for the entire world no, for my local store and area yes. Last time I showed up for Type 2 Friday Night Magic there was 11 people, 4 of them playing G/U with SSSs, Jittes, frogs, etc..., 2 were playing Heartbeat, 3 were playing Zoo, I was playing Mono-White Ideals, and 11th deck was a mono-blue Snow control deck.

Now the last local FMA tourney I played in we had 8 people, 1 Marcoh with nothing but Alchemy events, 1 Psiren that plays every location in the game, 1 Envy played nothing but 1 point locations, 1 Scar mob, 1 Roy Mustang MM, 1 Maes that I'm not sure what it's goal was, 1 Alphonse location control, and then Shou board control.

As far as big tournements go, no I have no idea but I don't have access to the deck lists registered at all the Regionals, nor at Worlds. That would be something someone from Joyride would have to address if they could.

The reason people can back up thier magic stats is because Wizards posts that stuff on thier Website, you could have found that out for yourself pretty easily. They post thier top 8 deck lists from all the major events (thats hows all the local players around here make thier decks). Joyride is a smaller company. Maybe in some places everyone doesn't net deck thier magic decks who knows, but around here they do, and if you show up playing something you made yourself they'll poke fun of you and try to turn you.
