I wish I could've gone, there was one pretty close to where I live. Unfortunately, I couldn't because of a soccer game.

It was pretty good. I didn't play in the main tournament but I did play in a side tournament (booster draft). I decided to rare draft instead of drafting to win and I got 7 rares out of it including a Bringer of the Blue Dawn. I also bought a Foil Auriok Champion from some guy for $6. I managed to spend a lot more than that with all the dealers there.

not to sound like a party crasher, but i found it a major waste of time and money.

* The main event was DOUBLE the cost of the booster/starter you get. I pulled a total of zero good rares. I know skill is a factor in sealed game, but when you play people who pulled 3+ playable rares, which always come out, It can really piss you off. I can't sell anything I got there. Not one card.
* The vendors were awful. I was looking for sinkholes. I found one selling for $20CND. That's really high. The other guy with one was selling for $25CDN. That's "wtf" prices (they were white-border. I got a black-border one for less). They wouldn't barter or even match the first guy's price. Bah.
* I can't complain about the meeting place, it was a roomy union hall. However the food/drink was vastly overpriced with not even a water fountain. I got a headache since i didn't want to spend two bucks on the cheapest drink.
* At least I managed to rip some people off, netting 2 living wish, a stack of bad rares i needed, endless whispers, city of brass, some other stuff for useless worthless garbage i had.

The next I go to a pre-release, if I go at all, I'm only going for the side-events, even though they too are overpriced.

I had a great time, I bought two troll ascetics, and I got a bringer of the white dawn, and a mycosynth golem, I got a Scythe of the wretched, and a Mephidross vampire, and a reversal of fortune, and a solar tide.

I also got two autographed cards, and an autographed arcbound hybrid print.

I thought my prerelease was cool for my 30 bucks i got an ostone a couple of new fifth dawn rares. Plus I won both pack rounds and I got 8th in my flight giving me a total of 7 extra boosters. So i think it was cool

I had a lot of fun. It was my birthday when I went, and I had some serious luck. The cards I registered had crap (Glissa was the best card). The cards I actually got included: Solemn Simulacrum, Isochron Scepter, Fabricate, and Plated Slagwurn from Mirrodin (not bad). I also got Raksha Golden Cub & Mephidross Vampire as my rares. (I forget the other one & I traded it and some of the uncommons for a Darksteel Forge & a Culling Scales.) I even got a Troll Ascetic for free from one of my friends who got one as part of a trade but didn't need 'cuz he already had four.

I found some decent vendors & got a Lotus Vale for $5, 3 black-boardered Worldly Tutors for $1 a peice, and a Tinker for $1.

I can see how you can get disappointed there though. The guy in front of me when we were registering cards pulled a Chrom Mox & a Glimmervoid only to have to pass them. :(

i live in the middle of nowhere and can't go to hardly any tournaments. it is dissapointing cos most of you seemed to have a ggood time. i play magic with myself (against my own decks, sad i know, but there isnt anymore players anywhere) to test decks but if i'm more casual i'll play with may dad or little bro... tho they are easy to beat cos they only play with me because they no i cant find games anywhere else.

i did use Apprentice for a while, but it just doesn't create the same feel as playing with your real cards.

first of all this shouldn't be in this thread but...

second of all, obviously if ur able to buy cards, and if theres a card store there must be other magic players around (specially since magic is THE tcg) if they're playin yugioh maybe make sum friends and convince one to get a starter deck or summin

actually i get my cards off the t'internet, with the execption of when imin Lincoln, where there is a very good shop called 'Cards4Fun'. But I'm only in Lincoln 3 weeks a year about :(

there is a shop that sells the cards, but not specialiast. its a like 'we sell everything other shops dont' kinda shop - so it doesn't hold tounaments.

other friends.. i tried, though none seem to be able to grasp it - they love the artwork but don't go to any tournaments therefore lose interest. some find it too hard to pick up.

Sorry about off-topic, if any admins pls split into another topic if ya want ;)
