Hey everyone, I am going to get emerald I think and I was wondering, what is the best starter? I thought blaziken would be a good choice because you dont find to many fire in the begining. Also, what would be a strong party? Could you list some strong partys of 6? I dont want the partys to be latias, kygore, groudon and so on, just some pokemon that are strong but sorta easy to find like mightyena and flygon. Please help, and any other tips I would love! Thanks!!!

Alright. IMO, Mudkip is the best Starter. Because then he is a guarenteed surfing pokemon later. Ofcourse Zigzagoon can learn surf also. Blaziken is ok, but has more weaknesses unfortunately. MArshtomp actually gets rid of his electrical weakness, which is good for the 3rd badge. All three starters can knock out the first gym pretty easy. I would suggest catching a Tailow. It evolves to swellow at level 22 and learns Endeavor at 28. Its also one of the fastest pokemon on the game. If you catch a Slakoth in the first forest, you can trade him for a Mahkuhita in Rustboro, giving you a fighting pokemon.
You wont need a fire pokemon that early, infact you really dont HAVE to have one, as long as one of your other pokemon can learn Flame THrower.
Additional Comment:
Never mind on the Slakoth Mahkuhita part. Wrong Game.

I agree, Mudkip is the best starter.
Try catching a Manaectric and maybe a Whismur that will become an Exploud

Actually, don't catch the Whismur. It is just too hard to raise in the beginning. I have never used Manectric, So i cant comment on that. But maybe catch a Magikarp also. Its incredibly hard to raise, but when it evolves at level 20 to Gyrados, it will have been worth it. Gyrados is a high offensive pokemon. Good moves for him would be thrash, Hyper Beam, Dragon Dance, Thunderwave....etc.

Mudkip's a good starter.
Gyarados rocks too, but I do not suggest Hyper Beam... I suggest more of a Dragon Dance/Earthquake/Taunt/Torment or Surf moveset. I think he learns Dragon Dance on level up. Earthquake, I use heavily, so if you know the Emerald cloning glitch, give a pokemon the TM and clone it over and over... keep the extra pokes, release, whatever. Earthquake works, period.
Anyways, My Emerald team is from Emerald AND Leaf Green, so, bleh.
Tyranitar* @ Leftovers
Substitute
Focus Punch
Thunderbolt
Crunch
Kingdra @ Leftovers
Surf
Rain Dance(don't play kingdra without rain dance, trust me... rain dance doubles his speed)
Ice Beam
Toxic
Houndoom @ Focus Band
Flamethrower
Sludge Bomb
Swagger
Crunch
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Steel Wing/Drill Peck(breed it with something that knows drill peck, maybe fearow[?])
Taunt/Toxic
Roar
Spikes
Aerodactyl* @ Choice Band
Aerial Ace/Wing Attack
Ancientpower/Rock Slide(deciding right now >_<)
Earthquake
Double-Edge(rock head ability ^^)
Salamence @ Choice Band
Brick Break/Fire Blast (ergh, in process of choosing)
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Dragon Claw/Aerial Ace
I had to restart my other game, sapphire, a few times to get all the stuff... cuz I used most of it before I tried building this team.
Also, I've got a few other pokes that I use
Blaziken @ Focus Band
Overheat
Thunderpunch
Sky Uppercut
Earthquake
Gengar* @ Leftovers
Toxic
Night Shade
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Flygon @ Focus Band
Fire Blast
Earthquake
Dragon Claw
Fly(don't ask)
Metagross @ Leftovers
Explosion
Earthquake
Meteor Mash
Thunderpunch(get Ice Punch... or Psychic.)
*-from Leaf Green
Really, it depends on what you're doing, y'know?
If you can get a Scyther, and find a way around his rock/fire/flying weaknesses, he's got pretty nice attack and speed... Sceptile, the grass starter (treecko), is good too, but Mudkip-Marshtomp-Swampert works well too. If you're not worried about fire/ground/water/fighting moves too much, you could try running an Aggron (Aron-Lairon-Aggron), it's got a base defense of 180, like 504 maximum defense or something (serebii)...
Hope this helps >_<

If you can, catch a Ralts. Though hard to raise at first, its useful against the 2nd gym and later on evolves into Gardevoir, which IMO is one of the best psychic pkmn. Also, be sure to catch Taillow, Electrike and Aron.

If you want an Ice pkmn in there, I would suggest maybe Glalie or Regice
Try and get non-legendaries w/ high base stats such as Salamence, Metagross, and Tyranitar.
Put a tank or two (pkmn w/ high defenses & few weaknesses) in your team
IMO, you shouldn't ever lose swampert or manectric
And have a Fire type in your team! (Blaziken, Ninetales, Charizard, Typhlosion, etc.)

Blaziken doesn't own the Elite Four anymore, so IMO do what I did and start with Sceptile, why because it now owns the E4, with Crunch (Ghosts), Leaf Blade (Water), and Dynamic Punch (Dark) (bad moveset for competition), like what Blaziken did before, you will need someone to learn Ice Beam for the Dragons, but IMO Sceptile is the best for Emerald

You don't want to know my team thats for sure :)
My Emerald Battle Froniter team is pwonage, counters everytype.
A good team to battle the Elite 4 would probally be the one you suggested, remeber to battle every trainer you see, it helps!

Despite what people are saying about trading, don't do it. You're going to end up most likely using those pokemon throughout the entire game, then when the time comes for the Elite 4, guess what? You don't get the Battle Frontier ticket since Scott only gives it to you if you used all of your own pokemon.
Ralts, Aron, Mudkip (starter imo would be best), and any electric and fire would make an altogether great team to start off with.

Woah so if you traded, you wont get the ticket?

Never heard of that before. Where did you get the info...do you have a link?

I think that's determined based on if they have your Trainer id. So if you simply breed them all....
