I have twin cousins who like to play my Pokemon Saphire. They're 6 years old, boys, learning to read, and have their own Gameboy SP. I think they would like to be able to play the game on their own, but because I've worked a lot on Saphire, I don't want to risk them messing something up.

So I was thinking about getting a used version of Red/Blue/Yelllow(whichever one I can find), and help them play it, but on their own. As in I own it, but whenever I visit them(at least twice a week), we play together, however they want. But do you think they can handle this game, even with my help. I know that when they first came out, my brother was 7, but obsessed with Pokemon(he could even identify most of them by their noise). But because the twins doen't know a lot about Pokemon, I'm not sure.

Also, how much do you think a used version would be, and how hard would it be to find it?

I'd suggest a Yellow version.
You get the Pikachu following you around and you get all the starters as you move through the game, so you can have all the Pokemon Ash had.

My 6 year old needed help originally but by the time he turned 7 and could read well he was off and running, only needed help now and then to find something that he needed to move from one part of the game to another (like a bottle of water to give the guards, that kind of thing).

I bet any version is good for a 6 year old. :)

I think the Yellow version is best. Like PokePop said you get to have Pikachu and get the starters just like Ash. Also little kids like the tiny little yellow electric mouse that, when needed, can open up a can of hurt on the enemies.

Yeah. He wound up with a level 67 Pikachu and everything else at level 10-15. :p
