How to clone Pokemon in Emerald version [Archive]

This only works in Emerald version.

1. Save in front of the PC in the Battle Tower.
2. Deposit the pokemon you want to clone in an empty box.
3. Leave the PC and save again.
4. Go to the PC one more time and withdraw the pokemon you want to clone, the one that's in an empty box.
5. Talk to the lady on the far right, and she will ask you to join a Multi Battle.
6. Select Yes and choose any two pokemon.
7. When she asks if you want to save, select Yes.
8. If everything so far has been done correctly, the game will wait about one second before doing anything else.
9. The one second wait was the glitch taking place. You should turn the game off without saving after the one second wait ends. If you turn it off beforehand your game will be erased.
10. Turn off your game, and now the cloned pokemon is both in the PC and in your party.

Be sure to use the Deposit and Withdraw options instead of Move Pokemon.

WARNING: This glitch can erase the Pokemon you're trying to clone if you mess up. After you deposit and save, you're supposed to withdraw the pokemon and talk to the lady on the far right. If you forget to withdraw your pokemon, and continue with the rest of the steps, it will wipe the pokemon you were trying to clone from the game. (credit to Rain Storm for making this known)

Actually, she worked for me. I finally figured out my problem. I was saving after the glitch, so I tried shutting it off after the pause ended, and it worked. Thx Sniper! Maybe you should include that little bit. Or I'm a moron...

IMHO it isn't really cheating, because you aren't entering a code or using a cheating device (like a Gameshark). You're basically just taking advantage of an in-game glitch.

Meh. Whoever released it isn't very smart.
Now everyone is going to clone Master Balls/Rare Candies and stuff, and what would be the point of catching hard to get pokemons/leveling pokemons? Also cloning TMs can be nice..

Back to GS where you would clone 50 candies to level your Pokemons?

Cloning pokemon isn't very useful, cloning pokemons with items held on them is, however, very useful.

Also, I don't know if someone said it before, but you can do it like this to save time:
1-Put rare candy on [Pokemon]
2-Put Rare Candy on [PokemonB]
3-Save before PC
4-Deposit [Pokemon] and [PokemonB] on different empty boxes
5-Save again
6-Withdraw both
And then do the Lady talk and turn off, and they will both get cloned.
It's a good way to save time.

I think this thread should be routinely bumped up, to make sure that everyone gets a chance to see it. Its helping me get the pokemon I want from other people. I used to never trade, because people wanted My team pokemon or Jirachi...now I can get what I want...Except I still need Mew and Deoxys....nobody around here has a ligitamate one...kinda sux...lol. So keep bumping this!

Sniper989: This is the first real ingame Emerald glitch I've seen. IMO, it is not cheating to use it. I haven't tried this glitch but it looks like plenty of posters have, and they found it helpful and without harmful side effects.

I saw this on a thread on smogon, tried it, and it worked. Be sure to use the Deposit and Withdraw options instead of Move Pokemon.

My Rayquaza mission is slightly angering me, because I want to clone my master ball first, but I haven't gotten to the battle frontier before thanks to my damn traded Blaziken I used since first badge. Im not sure what would be a better idea... meh, your only suposed to get one Master Ball a game,

I know you're supposed to beat the game w/ no traded Pkmn, but someone I know also had a traded Blaziken. He beat the game w/ it in is party, and he still got the battle frontier. So, either he's lucky or you're unlucky, Amon Amarth.

Well I found the reverse side of the glitch. It has Erasing powers also. Though to accidentally trip it, you'd be pretty stupid. I was tired and wiped out 2 of my best pokemon.

Ok, basically after you deposit and save, you're supposed to withdraw the pokemon and talk to the woman. Well, I accidentally figured out that if you forget to withdraw your pokemon, and continue with the rest of the steps, it will wipe the pokemon you were trying to clone from the game.

As you can see, you'd have to be stupid to do this. I was tired, it was after midnight when I was doing it. I learned my lesson. I think this warning should be displayed on the help forum with this glitch.

you know, while i was cloning my lugias i traded from Gale of Darkness (i have 9 LV85) and accidentally withdrew Hariyama along with the lugia and cloned him by mistake, so im guessing the cool part is on the withdrawing part, it doesn't HAVE to be the ones you deposited because i withdrew hariyama from a full box.

It would be awesome if we had a remake of G/S as well! Perhaps it would be alot cooler as G/S were for GameCube! :eek:

Actually, they should be able to be cloned, since you can enter any two pokemon, its not limited to the one you're cloning.

Well well, a glitch once again destroys me.

I did everything right, even followed a video on youtube while looking at the guidelines here. Turned off my game.

Once I restarted....death. My entire file was erased due to "corruption or damages" Well, isnt that special, all my pokemon and time were shot to hell.

Anyone know a way to get a destroyed file back? Nintendo or I heard Gameshark might be able to. Anything, please!

This cloning stuff is cheating? Since when was gameshark or AR involved in this cloning? When they are involved, its cheating. When they arent involved it isnt cheating. This is a cloning glitch, therefore this isn't cheating. That and the fact that AR and Gameshark arent used at all.

exploiting glitches is cheating? whatever. people only screwed up on M-Block (and the cloning glitches of G/S/C and Emerald) cuz they didnt do the glitch right. cheating w/ AR screws up your game no matter what.

Both of them will lose whatever you switched with. I think this might be why the guy who posted earlier specified to use an empty box though.

To clone up to 5 at once, at the deposting step, deposit 5 different pokemon in 5 different empty boxes. At the withdrawing step, withdraw them all and continue like normal.

It really saves time ^.^

then do it with a wurmple or any other pokemon you dont want(with no item on it) and if it works do it again with some others + item (your choise)

All I did was clone my master ball 4 times and my heart scale a ton of times(for smeargle). Maybe I traded them...

The only problem is you gotta duplicate rare candys a lot. I ran out of them (found them all) so Im trying to get a linoone to find me one. Fortunatly I havent had luck

Luckily I had a single PP up left so i'm going to use that to max all my moves for like everything that I invest in :)

And, when you start mass cloning Rare Candies/PP Ups/Master Balls, make sure you keep at least one pokemon with a different item in your party for the registration lady.

Haven't been on Pojo for several months, until I read this glitch. I normally don't take advantage of glitches; too risky for me, but since this is Pokemon, I decided to give it a try. Guess what...... IT WORKS!! I tested it on a Natu first, then a Girafarig (however you spelled it) holding a Repel, then I cloned my only Beldum (lv. 5 with very high IV's) holding a rare candy. Since those tests, I have 5 Regice, 4 Latios, and 4 Beldums with multiple leftovers and a couple extra TMs. If I would have known of this earlier, I wouldn't have used my master ball to catch Latios, because I still have the other legends yet to catch. Oh well, but anyway, this glitch can be simply put in one word: SWEET!
