Wouldn't Nicholas Cage have been an awesome actor to use as James Norrington? Think about it. The guy who plays him now is good, very good actually but Nicholas Cage could have done a much better, "Brittish Authority" role. It's almost his nature. Plus Jerry Bruckheimer used him in his, "National Treasure". Just a thought.

No...I think Jack Davenport is a GREAT Norrington, and I relish every scene he's in. In fact, I think I'm going to go back and watch the BBC Coupling since he's a big star in it.

I am just saying that it might have been cool to see him play the part. And yes the actor currently playing Norrington IS very awesome.

Ah, so there are other fans of Coupling here? I nearly did a double-take when I saw Jack Davenport as Commodore Norrington in the first movie. I'll also have to keep an eye out for this "Ultraviolet" series, but I'm not sure how I would go about finding it.

Ultraviolet is a UK series of a limited number of episodes. AFAIK it's not available in the US right now.

Was watching "The Libertine" last weekend - Davenport, Tom Hollander and Johnny Depp are all in it...and it was filmed shortly after PotC:COBP. Funny. Oh and Hollander plays a friend to Johnny Depp's character. Davenport is also a sympathetic character.

The moment I realized it was Davenport I thought The Melty Man would show up as a villain.

It absolutely agree with CaptainBarbossa. The guy who plays it now, is good, very good actually, but Nicolas Kedzh, probably, has made much more the best, "Authorities Brittish" a role.
