OK I've made a couple decks so far with the 200 cards I have in my personal pool. They seem to work pretty well against each other, so that's all good.
My question is, what do you guys think is a good ratio of strikes/advantages/allies?
I mean, it seems like the game is really trying to get you to play your signature moves, which thus far, I haven't seen any that are game breaking. In playtesting and playing my wife I haven't gotten off any of the flip side signature moves, and the starting side signature moves seem pretty, well, jank. The best thing is that they don't cost a lot of energy (or any), and that your opponent can't replenish.
So I'm working right now with around 35-40 strikes, 10-15 advantages and 5-10 allies.
What do you guys think?

since you have a limited pool of cards, you might want to give this a shot:
30-35 strikes
15-20 advantages
5-10 Allies
im not used to the Pirates of the Carribean terminology, but i do play Quickstrike, and thats pretty much the ratios i use.
hope that helps.

yes i did... which is essentially the same game.
http://www.pojo.com/shamanking/tips/index.shtml - there's some old tips & ratios and even deck advice in there from Scott Gerhardt for last years Shaman King game. Maybe that'll help a bit.
There's even some sealed deck advice from the game designer at UDE. ;)

The starter box decks also give you a rough idea about ratios. Each deck (which are 30 cards each) comes with 17 strikes, 8 advantages and 5 allies. At least that is what I found in my starter -- I presume that is consistent? Anyway, double it for 60 cards and you have 34 strikes, 16 advantages and 10 allies. That falls within the range given previously. Personally, I think most deck designs would benefit from a slightly higher advantage count and less allies.

The starter decks are not consistent, they are 100% random.
Now that I've been playing for several weeks, I do find that 10-15 allies is a decent number, and that 30-35 strikes is definitely in line. I like having more advantages so my zones get charged quicker, but since signature moves aren't that game breaking, it's not that important.

i agree that allies are far better than advantages. charging zones is cool and the sig. moves can be ok, they certainly arent game breaking. an advantage should be really good on its own in order to be played in a deck. I think Hatchet Job and Scorched Sails are currently the best advantages, and earn a spot in any deck that they can be played in. Last Meal is another really good one if your facing opponents with powerful allies.
having allies is crucial. its very easy to fall behind on energy after scoring a point and getting the extra energy from an ally cannot be overlooked. many times i find that the third point comes from the player who had three allies in play when they scored their second point.
my decks have been 8-12 advantages (more 8 than 12) and 12-16 allies with the rest being strikes obviously. the other crucial factor is the price of allies and advantages, i think that a single red energy in the cost of either makes it unplayable. cards that cost a single green are extremely valuable as the basically say reflip: green and give you a hopefully decent effect. i dont even like spending yellow energy on adv. or allies but a few such as Tia Dalma are more than worth it.
as i do more testing i'll let everyone know where my ratios seem to stabilize.
