Naruto CCG Origins and AE Tournament Prizes
Posted by Jarrett on Friday, 16th June @ 12:55 pm

The first two major tournaments for the Naruto CCG will take place at nearly the same time in two different parts of the country. Origins Game Fair (Columbus, OH: June 29-July 2) and Anime Expo (Anaheim, CA. July 1-4) will each play host to the first of many future major events planned for the Naruto CCG .

Each of these two day events will feature prizing for the top finishers valued at over $4K and include Naruto manga collections, video games, 1st edition booster boxes of Path to Hokage as well as the grand prizes of a Sony PsP hand-held, an iPod Video, and an HP Pavilion Laptop for the Master Shinobi.

All players who qualify from the first round will receive a Naruto Ninja Headband, symbolizing their graduation from an Academy Level Shinobi to a Genin Level Ninja for this event.

All participants will receive an exclusive promo foil preview card from Series #2Coils of the Snake entitled “Sharingan Eye.”

At Origins: the first day event begins at 1pm on Friday, June 30th with the top cut of players advancing to the single elimination round on Saturday, July 1st at 1pm.

At Anime Expo: the first day event begins at 1pm on Sunday July 2nd with the top cut of players advancing to the single elimination round on Monday, July 3rd at 1pm.

These two major organized play events will also allow Bandai Collectible Games to put its new OP software to the test, in advance of beginning nationwide Premier Naruto Events in July with the highly anticipated release of Series #2: Coils of the Snake.

I would go just for the Hitai-Ate, but I already have one that I have turned into Akatsuki... Which, by the way, I can't wait till they release Akatsuki cards... That will be so Awesome!

All in all, I would love to go to this, but the one that's closest to me would be Anaheim, and I can't take that time off of work, as it's 4th of July, and that's a big time for grocery stores...

Sounds interesting, but I absolutely refuse to play this CCG.
The names and quotes make me want to slaughter whoever translated Naruto to English.

Ya, haha, thats the same reason I don't watch the english versions of Naruto. Its still a great game, even if the translations are bad.

The Naruto CCG is quite fun, there will be volunteers at Origins and Anime Expo.

As for the person commenting about Major tournaments at cons I'd ask you what happened at GenCon SoCal last year (hint: UDE took over with several major YuGiOh and Vs. tournaments, nationals qualifiers)

The symbol of your ascension to a Genin ranked player is a pin not a headband, those have to be won at Chuunin Qualifier tournaments (this appears to be one) there are head bands being given out but the current marked reward is a Chuunin Qualifier winner pin. There is talk about having the Jounin tournamanent (regional tournaments) have the Kage hats as rewards (which my whole group is hoping for :P) but that's all still up in the air since all the organised play switched to a new company... 5 hours ago :)

It's worth playing, even if you aren't looking into the competitive play; tho they ARE giving away an iPod, a PSP and a Laptop to the winner at Anime Expo AND Origins and plan to have events at GenCon Indy, GenCon SoCal and a few others.
