snorlax actually has average defense. It has high HP though.

for in-game, use bide on anyone who can survive three or so hits. someone with high HP, high defense, or high special.

against human opponents, avoiding bide is too easy as to render the TM quite useless.

I personally would never use bide. I've always sold my bide at the local Pokemart for some quick money. There's really no good point in using it except for the beginning of the game. Even if you used it, your opponent would probably just avoid bide by using status ailments like confuse ray, sleep powder, thunderwave. So while you're waiting to unleash your energy, you'll probably be pelted with a ton of status moves. However, if you desperately want to use this tm, I would suggest a pokemon with high hp, high special, and high defense. With those 3 stats, you could survive long enough to attack.

Bide is not the most useful attack available... unless you have a party member who's exceptionally lacking on offensive moves and has enough HP to survive 3 rounds of "free" attacks from the opponent, you're better off not using it.

These three things I KNOW are true:

Bide=Pathetic
Bide=Sell it
Bide=$$$

Simple. =/

bide can be useless for two reasons.

1. it commits you to waiting to use it. if your opponent can knock you out before you use it, then it is useless. when you could have been attacking, you're stuck waiting.

2. there are several ways to dodge it:
a) a stat attack or two as mentioned. bide is a perfect time to bring a 1 hit point parasect back into battle to spore.
b) fly or dig will totally evade bide when it's unleashed if one is lucky on timing
c) just take a couple of swipes at the biding pokemon then swap gengar in because he's immune to normal
d) just don't attack a biding pokemon directly. if a pokemon recieves no damage, then it can't return damage. bide is a perfect time to doubleteam, sand attack or rest. then when bide is unleahed... nothing happens.
