Des Lacooda question

I have a question, des lacooda states that you can flip it face down once per turn. Here's my question:

Can I summon it face up, and use it's ability to flip face down, and than flip it up as a flip summon on the same turn?

No you cannot do this because you cant manually change its position (flip summon) the same turn you normal summon it.

this question might fit better in the Q and A section, but ill contribute to an answer anyway.

flip summoning, by the way, isnt changing battle position. it is flipping a monster face down. battle position is switching from attack to defense and vice versa.

guardian sphinx would be so broken if this were true though...summon+face down+flip and attack directly....

And then PACMAN decks woulds swarm like ants on a picnic. They would probably eat as much, too.

No offense...but think about this. If you summon a flip effect monster in attack, then try to switch it twice, nothing happens because the effect is void. Same with flip summoning, expect, you dont get the effect if killed in battle while face-down. Just a perfect way to balance the recycle effect.

Yea thats what I thought, reason I asked was because I duel my cousin all the time, and he thought it was this was, summon, flip face down(effect), and summon back up during the same mainphase. I knew somethign wa wrong.

Battle Positions cannot be manually changed if:

1. monster was summoned (any sort of summon)
2. monster attacked (whether successful dealing damage or not)
3. monster already was manually changed (which can be performed once)

Your friend broke rule 1, so his 3rd performance was illegal.

You can summon it, attack, flip it face down though. :)
