Hey guys, well I've been working pretty hard on this deck. Black and green really appeals to me, the whole rot mage thing but i find it pretty amazing to see in action when things get rolling in my favor. Here's what I've put together so far

Creatures
1X Grave-shell scarab
3X Savra, Queen of the Golgari
3X Golgari rot-wurm
4X Dimir house guard
4X sakura tribe elder
3X shambling shell

Spells
2X diabolic tutor
3X scatter the seeds
3X putrefy
2X darkblast
2X gaze of the gorgon
1X naturalize
2X sundering vitae
1X strands of undeath
3X golgari germination

Lands
9X swamp
10X forest
2X svogthos, the restless tomb
2X golgari rot farm

Alright, the gist of it is getting savra out with my scarab friend and hopfully a golgari germination and something that will let me sacrfice the saprolings. Now I have to say, at first this deck had fists of ironwood and was much more geared to saprolings, but the little buggers have fallen somewhat out of favor with me. I have found that i still need some for life pumping through savra but I'm not quite sure whether to keep scatter the seeds in.

At any rate, I basically use the dimir guards to get more savra's out if i lose her, or possibly a diabolic tutor which in turn fetches the scarab. shambling shells serve the same function in a pinch but lack the power of scarab. Other cards i can pull out in a pinch are the gaze of gorgon and nullmage shepard which i keep in the sideboard. ( i haven't decided on her yet)

The crux of my question is, given what i want to do, are there any cards in my deck that are out of place? Any replacements i should consider? Any cards i should up in number or reduce?
Thanks in advance for input, this deck is already performing really well.

i'm sure you already know this, but you need more scarabs, Kokusho, and jitte, more savras would be good too.

-3 rotwurm
-4 houseguard
-3 scatter the seeds
-2 gaze of the gorgon
-1 strands of the undeath
-2 sundering vitae

+4 kokusho
+4 jitte
+3 scarab
+1 naturalize
+1 shambling shell
+1 putrefy
+1 savra

thanks for the reply. I can see why you'd want more scarabs and stuff, the reason i didn't have them i suppose, was the cost. The rot wurm, I'm hesitant to part with because I use him to sacrifice saprolings. If i were to get rid of the wurm and dimir, I'd pretty much also have to ditch rot farm and scatter the seeds as well no?

might i suggest some hand destruction? try cards like blackmail, unnerve, fill with fright, mind rot, hypnotic specter, abyssal specter... there are many others. Hand destruction is a classic strategy in black decks and is a great way to bring your opponent to their knees. If they can't keep their cards in hand, they're screwed.

Additional Comment:
pulse of the dross also comes to mind. If hand destruction doesnt fit into your deck, maybe creature destruction? Visara the Dreadful is a creature destruction deck's wet dream. (3BBB, flying, 5/5, T: destroy target creature. it can't be regenerated.) its an onslaught rare.

Blackmail might be a good substitute for gaze of the gorgon and some others. As for creature destruction, that happens a whole lot when savra and scarab come together on the table anyways. My greatest weakness so far in games has been against faster cast player with "weenie" types that have a monster out every turn. Also i threw in the naturalizes when i was up against a guy who had only enchantments.

yea I'll def put in some blackmails, the low cost will work as a great early game stunner to allow me to get my stuff out. Thanks for the post :)

What do you think of a card like rolling spoils to negate the possibility of weenie decks and other saproling users?

Hideous Laughter would be a better choice than Rolling Spoil. This is also Type 2 so I'm moving it their.

sorcery
Destroy target land. If black was spent to play rolling spoils all creatures get -1/-1 until end of turn.

yes, Hideous laughter is WAY better, especially because it is an instant.
