What's the effect of that odd Mathemitician monster card played by Bastion when he dueled Jaden for the right to duel in the school duel?

While we're on that subject, Carbongeddon was also in that duel. If you watch the theme song closely, you will notice a Fire Dragon next to Bastion and Water Dragon. This means Oxygeddon and Carbongeddon may be that combination. An organic substance (anything with Carbon in its chemical make-up) rubbed together with the presence of Oxygen can create a fire.

there may be other gedons coming out sometime or later. carbongedon is pointless.

They could still create fire. The point is that they can. Who cares if the card is pointless? Oxygeddon has a pointless effect as well. We, as T.V. viewers, do not know Carbongeddon's ATK, only its DEF.

When this card is summoned place one card from the top of your deck in to the graveyard. When this monster is destroyed, draw one card.

I guess thats it?

that sounds pointless of running at all.

The discard makes your deck smaller and is compatable with spell recycling (mof) in case the top card is a spell or monter potential like a light/dark makes Chaos Sorcerer or Avarice or Premature or Call or something. Then you get a to draw when destroyed.Sounds good to me
