this card seems very broken. my friend says if i were to target it with book of the moon it flips over facedown and isn't destroyed? i'm targeting it, but it doesn't die. i tried to compulse ejection device it, and he says it returns back to your hand not destroyed? penguin soldier returns it, and it does get destroyed? the most recent occurance had him having 2 reapers on the field and i used Riryoku. i targetted 1 reaper to minus atk and put the atk on another reaper. he said it doesn't die. what exactly is it that would kill reaper besides snatch, fissure, and smashing ground? what is your opinion on reaper being targetted with book of moon, penguin, compulse, etc? how exactly does it die? can someone explain it to me?

The thing about reaper being "immediatly destroyed" is that is isn't immediate

Reaper is only destroyed by his own effect when the effect resolves and he is still face up on the field

Book of moon- resolves and flips him face down, not destroyed because he is no longer face up

Compulse- resolves and returns him to his owners hand, not destroyed beacuse he is no londer on the field

Penguin soldier- same

Riryoku- resolves and takes half the attack of one reaper and gives it to the other- targets both and they remain on the field so they would both be destroyed

"Spirit Reaper" is only destroyed by its own effect if it is face-up on the field when the effect designating it as a target activates, AND after the effect designating it as a target resolves. If you Special Summon "Spirit Reaper" with Monster Reborn, or flip it face-down with "Book of Moon", or flip it face-up with "Book of Taiyou", it is not destroyed. If a face-down "Spirit Reaper" is targeted with "Change of Heart", then Flip Summoned, it is not destroyed because it was face-down when "Change of Heart" was activated. If "Spirit Reaper" is targeted by the effect of "Relinquished", "Spirit Reaper" is an Equip Spell Card after the effect of "Relinquished" resolves, so it is not destroyed. If "Spirit Reaper" is removed from play with "Dimensionhole" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Different Dimension Gate", then it is removed from play so it is not destroyed. If "Spirit Reaper" is shuffled into the Deck with "Monster Recovery", it’s not destroyed. If "Spirit Reaper" is returned to the hand with "Penguin Soldier", it’s not destroyed.

Examples of cards that will not destroy "Spirit Reaper" because they do not target: "Creature Swap", "Adhesion Trap Hole", "Spear Dragon".
