banner of the stars is just a continuation of crest of the stars. It got the same two main characters Lafiel and Jinto. Banner starts 3 years(anime time) after crest ends.

Are they going to be showing this on Tech TV?

So there was:
Crest of the Stars
Banner of the Stars
and now...
Banner of the Stars 2?
They probably will, if such a thing is there, but not in a while. Remember how long it took Tech Tv to show Banner of the Stars?
I thought if they were going to make a third " " of the star series, I thought it would be called Emblem of the Stars... lolzers.

Well, seeing as TechTV owns the rights to the these animes. There would be no doubt that they would eventually pick this anime up.

Crest is a decent series. Not the best, but Jintoh and La Fiel are always fun to watch. And I like some of the battle stuff... I actually like the second one a lot more than the first.

But it's a start, cuz you wouldn't want to start at the first Banner of the Stars and not know what's been going on so far in this trilogy anime.

Yeah, if you missed Crest, you're screwed.

All I'd need is discs 2 & 3 of BOTS & all three discs of BOTS II. So that I can complete this scifi anime.
But all in all, it's a great scifi anime

I watched banner before crest...it was confusing! But now that I've watched both I know I really like the series. I just found out about banner2 yesterday at a store in the mall here when I saw the dvds to it. Does anyone have ANY idea as to when tech tv will pick it up??

i think tech tv ran banner of the stars 2 one time last year i'm pretty positive they did because they ran it right after banner of the stars.

I thouhg of putting this in the anime forum, but i didn't know if that was the right place.Anyways, hav any of you seen the two awsome movies?IMO,they are the best b/c of the action, the whole crazy plot of them, and the music. For all of you who don't know about Battle Royal,it's bascically the biggest What If? movie. The story is "What if all Japanese Highschool students started boycotting school and ther military stepped in by throwing random classes on an island where the students must all kill each other in three days, and there can only be one winner, and if.after three days, not everone is dead, collars that they have around their necks will explode and kill them all. What more could u ask from a director such as <pojo_ownz><pojo_ownz><pojo_ownz>asaku Kinji?Oh,i know, how about a second Battle Royal?Well,he gave us a second one and it's also great (although not as great as the first, but none-the-less great). Also, ther's a manga, which is equally awsome. So,those who have seen, what do u think of it?

...So THAT'S what Battle Royal is about... Interesting. Still, it must be awfully violent to be rated 18+... *shrug*

It's based on the book. The manga came much later.
Anyway, BR is one of the most felxible movies I've ever seen. It plays on character cliches while injecting some very deep messages and questions in the overall plot. Very gory and violent. People will be attracted to this more so than anything else. I'm hoping to get the BR:II tomorrow, though I've heard it's just pure action. I've heard they're going to make a BR III, which isn't anything but a look into the very first BR Act (around WWII, if I'm not mistaken)
Also, did they ever show Kaori and Mizumi's deaths scenes ?

The Book: This was the first aspect of BR I experienced, and while the translation is kind of shoddy - sample: "He leaned back against a tree that was 30 cm in diameter" :-/ - I found the entire concept incredibly intriguing. And I'm the kind of person who likes to write out all the people's names and check off who killed whom and with what weapon (hmm, sounds almost like a game of Clue x_x). Few other books have held me as interested as this one.
The Movie: After reading the book I of course had to see it. And I'm glad I read the book first, because otherwise I would have been a bit confused as to who all of the minor characters were.
The movie itself is good as well. I was actually expecting it to be more violent, but it's fairly low budget, and we here have all been emotionally deadened by Hollywood anyways. It's the concept of school students killing each other to win the Game that provokes the outrage. Chiaki Kuriyama - who plays Go Go Yubari in Kill Bill - is really cool in Battle Royale as a girl who goes ballistic when someone scars her face. But IMO Kou Shibasaki as Mistuko (aka 'the girl with the sickle') steals the show.
The Manga: Well... this is a mixed bag. The violence is so extreme as to almost be cartoonish. It's a wonder that blood stays in people's bodies with the pressure it squirts out with. And every scene with Mitsuko has a panty shot, which is pretty telling about the integrity of the manga :-/. I only got the first volume, and I don't think I'll get any more.

Also, did they ever show Kaori and Mizumi's deaths scenes ? In the original movie their deaths aren't shown directly, just their bloody bodies on the beach with knives stuck in them. The same with Youichiro and Tadakatsu, it just shows Mistuko standing over them shaking the blood off of her sickle. However, there was a Director's Cut version of the movie, so it's possible these were some of the added scenes.
I'm planning on seeing BR II... eventually. I have a bad feeling...

Dang...that was one of the more memorable parts in the book. It showed Mitsuko's cleverness as well as a little of her humanity

This isn't and has nothing to do with anime and manga. Why is it in the anime section?
BR is a cool film. It's banned in the US, isn't it? Or has that been lifted now?
BR2 is meant to be just an action film really. I mean come on, they have lots of guns and proper military equipment and armor and such. This isn't what BR is about.
And it's called Battle Royale.

Im not sure if this has been discussed before but what do you think about Battle Royale Manga.. I think its pretty cool but "very graphic" at the same time.. I really think if the manga wasnt that graphic it will be better cause is hard to read and be scared of at the same time look at something lets say disturbing (for me) but well thats the way the creator wanted so .... anyways I think Kazuo Kiriyama and Shinji Nanahara are nice.. what are you thoughts about it?

Here is a pretty OLD thread on Battle Royale Live Action movies, Novel, and Manga. http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=25882 Anyways, my friend let me keep her volume 4 of Battle Royale. Sadly, it is the only volume of Battle Royale I've had a chance to read. So far I love how disturbing and evil this manga series is, as well as how it shows how corrupt humanity/society can be at times. Suprisingly, besides the gorey action there is a balanced amount of plot and character development "well in vol 4 at least". The basic plot of the entire series is completely "unique" and "different". If Battle Royale manga wasn't banned in retail bookstores I'd have bought more volumes of it. The live action movies and novel are something I want to be able to pick up as well. I won't be able to get any though until I get my own credit card of course in a couple of years.
