Sonic was sitting at the bedside of an injured Shadow, waiting for him to regain his consciousness. Sonic was at the beach when Tails had found the body of a unconscious Shadow. Although Sonic and Shadow had their differences in the past, they managed to work together to destroy the Biolizard. After that day, he hadn’t known Shadow was still alive, because he had watched Shadow fall through the atmosphere and crash onto the ground. Nobody could’ve lived through that kind of impact. Sonic was no scientist or genius like Tails, but he knew that hitting the Earth at a high speed WOULD kill you.
“…Where am I?” a raspy voice said.
Sonic looked over at Shadow, who was starting to regain his consciousness. Shadow started to lift his head to look around, but it dropped.
“Sonic? Is that…you?”
“Yeah Shadow it is. What happened to you?”
“Eggman…robot…kill you…conquer world…Metal Shadow.”
Knuckles was right about Shadow. Eggman HAD played a part in the injured body of Shadow. Sonic’s hands clenched into fists. He thought he had gotten rid of Eggman after the destruction of the Perfect Chaos. But obviously hadn’t gotten rid of Eggman yet. Sonic stood up, and looked down at Shadow.
“Stay here Shadow. I’m sure Amy will look after you while I’m gone.”

Days until Metal Shadow’s completion: 3 days, 16 hours, 2 minutes
Eggman was still at work on Metal Shadow, only this time adding abilities and moves into his robotic brain.
“Yes he will need Chaos Control…”
Eggman knew every move of Sonic and Shadow. This would be useful in creating Metal Shadow. Metal Shadow would be able to know how to counter every move that Sonic had, and the same exact thing for Shadow. He had already programmed Knuckles’s maneuvers and Tails’s technological weapons, Espio’s kung-fu background, and Rouge’s kicking strength. Eggman gave a tiny chuckle, and started to program the attack that would kill Sonic…Chaos Inferno. Chaos Inferno would have black flames wrap around Sonic’s body, and squeeze until every single breath in his body was gone. It was like a powerful python, squeezing the lungs of Sonic, crushing his esophagus, and bringing all chances of living to a near minimum. Eggman cackled evilly, and he turned to face at the completed shell of Metal Shadow. All he needed to do was add the correct joints, and the brain, which would take a few more days. Metal Shadow was near completion.

Days until Metal Shadow’s completion: 3 days, 1 hour, 56 minutes
Sonic was on the front of the Tornado, with Tails at the pilot. Sonic was steaming with anger after learning from Shadow Eggman was still alive. He hands were still in fists, and he was raring to tear Eggman’s head off. Although this wasn’t normal for Sonic, he was fed up with facing Eggman. It was like Eggman never slept! Sonic heard a tap on the window, and Tails was signaling that he was going down.
“Why are we stopping?”
“We need fuel for the Tornado.”
Sonic was sitting down, trying to calm himself down, while Tails and Knuckles were looking for the extra fuel they had.
“Knuckles open up that hatch so I can pour this in.”
All of a sudden, a blur sped by them. Sonic got up, and decided to follow it. Sonic was the fastest thing alive, so he knew he would be able to catch whatever passed them just now.
“I’ll be right back.”
Sonic followed the blur, but he suddenly came to a stop. The blur was slowing down for a break. It came to a halt, and put his hands on his knees. It was Shadow, still clearly not one hundred percent. Sonic went up to a Shadow and put his hand on his shoulder.
“Are you okay Shadow?”
“Get away from me…”
“But Shadow…”
“Just GO AWAY.”
Sonic backed away and sped off towards to where Knuckles and Tails were. He still didn’t get why Shadow acted like that. He knew Shadow was a little bit of a lone wolf, but he never told Sonic to go away when he was clearly hurt. Sonic was only trying to help, but Shadow never wanted any help. Ever since Sonic met his counterpart, he knew Shadow never wanted any help. He only requested help when he was outnumbered or clearly weaker than his opponent. And if Shadow was going to go one on one with this “Metal Shadow” thing he mentioned when he awoke at the cabin, he had a feeling Shadow wouldn’t wake up next time Sonic saw him, especially if Dr. Eggman was going to kill Sonic with this robot…or at least try.
“Who blew past us Sonic?”
“Shadow.”
“But I thought he was back at the cabin!”
“He was. And I guess he wanted to get Eggman before he finished creating this “Metal Shadow” thing he told me about when he woke up today.”
“Metal Shadow?”
“Yeah Metal Shadow.”
“I’m sure we can take him, but we may need a advantage to help us.”
“Tails, are you thinking, what I’m thinking?”
“Chaos Emeralds?”
“LETS GO FIND THEM!”
