What death affected you more when you read it.

When Cedric bit the bullet or when Sirius kicked the bucket?

well both were important to the plot. I'd say cedric's death shocked me most while Sirius' death saddened me the most.

I was really shocked about the same by both, but sirius' definitely saddened me more... i had no idea she was gonna kill him... i mean people were talking hagrid, dumbeldore, ron, hermione, and i never even gave siruis a thought...

Cedric's death upset me more because I wasn't expecting it. I knew someone else was going by the time Sirius bought it in book 5. I didn't expect it to be him though.

Both left me incredulous for a time but I think Cedric's shocked me the most, and Sirius's saddened me the most.

I really could not have cared less about either of them. Cedric was almost negligible as far as the plot was concerned, and though Sirius was certainly much more important... I still didn't find myself caring all that much about him.

My reasoning is, while I like Sirius a lot more than Ced and didn't really have the chance to make a mental bond with him, Cedric died trying to be nice. I mean, the entire book, Cedric was being as nice as he could be, helping out Harry at every turn, and even when he had the golden oppuritunity to go and get the trophy and become famous, he decided to compromise and share the glory and fame he would've won. and what did all of his kindness, what did all of his sacrifice for harry get him? It got him killed. If greed would have taken over when he was in the home stretch, or if he decided not to give harry help and hints in every task, he might've lived, but ultimately, his kindness did him in.

So, while Sirius' death was the most unexpected and more robust of the two, Cedric's was the saddest when it comes right down to it.

Hmm..you know, you're right. But you have to admit, it would've been better if he had just disappeared, and people still had a hope for finding him, then knowing he had been killed...

Cedric's had me more shocked, as I wasn't expecting it...I, like others, was expecting someone to die in OoTP, and wasn't surprised when Sirius died, but I was saddened more by it than when Cedric died.

Cedric's death caught me off guard simply because it was so immediate. No planning or preparation. It was over in a couple sentences. It's not really like Rowling to do that, so it was definitely a twist.

I didn't believe Sirius had died until I re-read that chapter about 2 or 3 times. It was shocking to me. I fully expected at least another bookful of character development and interactions between him and Harry. 'Twas a bit bothersome at first, but now I guess it was somewhat inevitable. Rowling mentioned that book five would show an even greater depth of loyalty and sacrifice for Harry than the other installments.

Which is one of the reasons I love this series.

cedric diggory was a good person in the books he was in but he died .as dumbledore had said in the first book death is another great adventure.the death of sirius also caught me off guard i read that passage of the book and i went and sat in my room i came back in an hour and read the rest of the book.why why sirius he was one of me favorite people in the book and she goes and kills him man i couldnt take it :( i read all the other books that had sirius in them im like w :eek: w he would have done any thing to save harry he sacrficed himself for harry.the coolest thing would be is if serius's dog form became harry's patrounes shape.

Sirius' death definately saddened me more. He was one of my favorite if not my favorite people in the entire series. I dont think that he is officialy dead though because he only fell through the veil and thats it. I hope tha he comes back.

It would have to be Sirius because i looked upon him as harry's gardian and the only family he had.
