Is this any different that Sapphire or Ruby? I don't want to buy it just cause it has a different color cartridge.

I don't have it, but my brother does, and he's not that far, but I have heard some things about it.

first of all, u can catch both seedot and lotad in the begiining, and I also believe u can catch both groudon and kyogre.

also, the pokemon contest buildings are replaced by different things, and all of the contests are held in lilycove for each level.

Plus there is the whole battle frontier thing, with all of those different battle arenas.

I also think it is possible to get both fossils(not sure of this)

Also the second gym has a little addition added on to it, from r/s, so I'm assumiong other gyms have stuff added on also.

as I said before, I don't have the game so not all of this may be true, it's stuff I have heard

There are many differences in Emerald, but the greatest one is the Battle Frontier. I'd definitely shoot for Emerald just for that.
