Keep it with you for a while and try not to let it faint in battle. I think there is a held item that can help. It sometimes takes a while.

Have it hold Soothe Bell. Its speeds up the process.

Every 256 steps, it likes you more, so keep a Pokemon you want to be happy in your party while doing the darecare trick and hatching eggs. Pokemon really like vitamins which you should be using for EV training anyway. Pokemon caught in the wild like you least initially, Pokemon hatched from eggs like you a bit better, and Pokemon caught with the Luxury Ball like you quite a bit. To get lots of Luxury Balls, take your best contest Pokemon and keep winning on Normal. As long as you already have the ribbon for that contest, you'll get a Luxury Ball.

I took a pokemon to do a Normal rank contest that already had the ribbon for it to try and get a Luxury Ball and when i won it didnt give it to me. Other people say you have to keep winning the Master Rank Contest.

i was wondering about that too... i think its just easier (at least for me) to just trade over luxury balls, im gonna work on the contest after i finish raising all my pokes and then catch good pokes for the contests...

Since it will like you more if you walk around with it, just use the Slippery Slope Trick with it in your party, and it'll become your best friend after a couple of days...
