your team seems pretty good

Hey, I have a question. Does Explosions power depend on the amount of HP you have? Because I'd probably use it if I saw he was about to die and had no hope. Or if I knew I could win the battle by doing it.

If blaziken is yur attacker, then why fire blast?

you should switch fireblast for flamethower(on altaria) becase of PP and accuracy

Otherwise, your team is exxellent

Spike9123

Fireblast for the ones with a high defense.

Absol
02-01-2004, 01:45 PM
Fire Blast is more powerful... PP doesnt matter as you wont be using it on every pokemon...

Fire Blast = 120 x .85 = 102
Flamethrower = 95 x 1.00 = 95

you have a few repeat weaknesses, but they shouldnt be a huge problem...

Dang, so that's it? No more critisizm? No more anything to pick at? Dang Absol, you pwn.

Your team's pretty stable, you and Absol did a fine job. No real criticism here.

Absol

Explosion's power is always 250...

LigerZeroZager

What is HP: Electric? I have seen others like HP Ice and HP Ghost, what is that?

Absol
02-01-2004, 04:15 PM
Hidden Power...

Hidden Power...

With just a smidge of Electric. =p

LigerZeroZager

How can you give Hidden Power Electric power?

Linzoy
02-02-2004, 01:52 PM
You can't. It's type and power are random.

BerserkerAzn

Nice Team Spike.

Hidden Power depends on your Pokemon's IV's. IV's are values invisible to the player but are essential to stat calculations. They can add anywhere from 0 to 31 points onto your pokemon's stats.
Example:
On of your pokemon could have IV's of:
ATK:10
DEF:15
SPEC.ATK:7
SPEC.DEF:27
SPD:0

Like that. You can calculate your stats at Pokemon Forever(That's the website's name). There you can also find out what your Hidden Power is. Check the Sticky's for more info.

Thanks you guys. I'm thinking of changing the HP: Electric to something else, because it'll take forever to catch the Horsea with the right IV's, especially considering it's a type totally opposite to it. What should I replace it with? It can't learn any electric moves outside of Hidden Power, so. . .

Linzoy
02-02-2004, 06:35 PM
Hidden power has nothing to do with the pokemon's type. You have just as good a chance of getting a horsea that knows hp water one that knows hp electric.

Spike9123
02-02-2004, 07:33 PM
Oh. But still, I don't want to catch 20 Horseas before I get the right one. And especially since pokefor's calculator is down. . .

Linzoy

Rest and/or double team is good on kingdra.

Spike9123
02-02-2004, 07:48 PM
He's my Sp. Atker though, should it be a Sp. Atk?

Linzoy
02-02-2004, 07:59 PM
I think your only decent option for a special attack is dragon breath, and that's a pretty useless attack unless you're worried about other kingdras. If you use rest/double team that doesn't necessarily mean it's a tank and can't be an effective sweeper.

Spike9123
02-02-2004, 08:46 PM
I think I'll go with Dragon Breath, as my friends use Legends such as Lati@s and Rayquaza, and like Salamence and Altaria. I mean, I wouldn't be able to really defeat them with it, but if Kingdra was all I had left, I'd hafta use it. So. . . Thanks Linzoy.

Linzoy
02-03-2004, 06:46 AM
Useless isn't the right word to describe dragon breath now that I think about it, it's just that ice beam is stronger and twice as powerful against rayquaza, altaria, and salamence.

Cooltrainer Josh

Shouldn't Altaria have EQ for Poison Types as well as Steel over Fire Blast ?

Absol
02-03-2004, 02:34 PM
Skarmory, Weezing, Crobat...

Spike9123
02-03-2004, 02:53 PM
Okay, so I have two choices for Altaria over HP Electric:

EQ or Dragonbreath.

Help me decide, I think personally I should go with Dragonbreath, but I'm not the best on deciding moves for Pokemon.

Linzoy
02-03-2004, 03:02 PM
I'm confused, I thought you where trying to replace hp electric on kingdra.

I know nothing about hazers, never had to use one. My parents won't let me download mirc or anything.

Spike9123
02-03-2004, 03:07 PM
Ooops, sorry, Kingdra. =p

Looks like I'm going with DB, there's nothing else I can really do.

I was thinking Altaria and Kingdra were the same thing.

And Linzoy, don't worry, I had mIRC once. The only good thing about it is bash.org. Other than that it sucks.

Bash.org's funny though. =p

Magnor

DB here too, cause of the accuracy, and most flying types cant be damaged by Ground attacks, such as EQ. If you fight a Lati@s, then it dies, lol.

Linzoy
02-03-2004, 03:20 PM
I use my latias in the battle tower, it's never been taken town by one dragon breath, dragon claw, or even blizzard, even if I don't calm mind first. After about four calm minds I don't have to worry about any special attacks. Shadow ball is the best way to defeat latias.

02-03-2004, 06:19 PM
Hey, on Blaziken, think it'd be alright to run Flame Thrower instead of Fire Blast?

Absol
02-03-2004, 06:30 PM
Overheat or Fire Blast... oh wait, I just told you that on AIM...

MonkeyMasterTao9
02-03-2004, 06:40 PM
pretty good, except change fire blast to flame thrower, and what are "tanks"?

Absol
02-03-2004, 06:47 PM
Fire Blast/Overheat > Flamethrower

Flamethrower = 95
Fire Blast = 102
Overheat = 126

Overheat is the most powerful, but it has it's nasty side effect... but if you do have to attack twice, they are probably at such a low HP level that the 2nd will KO it...

Linzoy
02-03-2004, 07:12 PM
A tank is a pokemon made to survive a very long time, with attacks like rest. Read the help thread, it's helpful.

I like overheat, but it's just personal preference, all three attacks are equally good.

Absol
02-03-2004, 07:35 PM
Tanks are basically Sweeper counters... most teams have several Tanks so they can try to counter as many different sweepers as possible...

wobmaster

Its hidden power of the electric type

Spike9123
02-04-2004, 05:46 PM
Hidden Power can be of any type depending on the Pokemon's IVs.
