View Full Version : Egg Glitch? Or just taking enough steps by chance?

Okay. This happened in Emerald btw. I wanted a Psyduck with a quirky nature, so I was breeding a quirky ditto with an everstone with a Psyduck. Now, I go and talk to the man outside, even though I know what he's going to say "They don't seem to like each other very much."
So I go and I do much about nothing. Check on berries and the like. So I come back and I see the man has stepped out of the yard, I talk to him, but he says I need to make room. So I go and do so, then I grab my Psyduck egg.
So first I do the usual ride back and forth from r188 to verdanduff and back. But along the way one time I got bored and went up from mauville to r111. I then went back down to r117 and saw the man had another egg. So I repeat the usual, make room, get an egg. But it seemed like it was much too soon for them to produce another egg since they didnt like each other.
So I repeated from going to 117 to 111 and back, once. And there was another egg. This happened about 5 times until once after I got my egg I talked to the man again. Then it ceased to keep happening.
Later I needed to breed a calm feebas, (I have dittos of about every nature almost) So I through a feebas and a ditto in there with the everstone, rode around until the man stood out with an egg. Then just to see if it would happen again I rode from r117 to 111 and back and there as an egg again, seemingly much too soon.
I just find it odd that it happened, and I'm not sure why. I wanted to know if anyone could clear this up?

It's strange, I know, it has happened to me almost everysingle time I breed any kind of pokemon with a ditto...
could it just be ditto's in particular?

Hmm I have a koffing in day care now with feebas, I suppose I could take Koffing out and put something else in and try? I think I will. I'll post back with my results.
Additional Comment:
Nope. I didn't happen without Ditto.

It happened to me again today without a ditto. I was breeding wobbufett with koffing to get a koffing with destiny bond. it only worked once though.

As far as I know the time it takes to hatch an egg depends on the number of steps you take while holding the egg, which varies by species.
But the elapsed time between getting eggs from Day Care Dude can and does vary quite a bit depending on several things---for example the compatability between parents and the species used as parents.
I've done a lot of breeding and noticed that sometimes I'll get like a bunch of eggs all one after the other in no time and then at other times will have to wait a long time for one. The eggs seem to come in waves---after a wave you wait. Maybe using Dits complicates it further. I've never yet seen the exact formula for how it works. I've never seen anything that takes the route into account at all.

See the thing is, the parents were barely compatible, none of them liked each other very much.

Jut ride back and fourth on the mach bike between mauville and the daycare, even if they don't like eachother the egg comes in no time.

For a specific reason, this actually doesn't come as a surprise to me, Duzell. There are certain things in Pokémon that I have not been able to understand, and I have just decided to accept them as haxes / the AI cheating.
Some of these things include Critical Hits, Status Effects, and other battle functions. It seems that the computer is always getting the upper hand (surprised?--I'm not); for example, after playing for 500+ hours on Emerald, not once was I able to pull off a Focus Band to leave me with 1 HP (especially when I most needed it: in the Battle Pyramid); 500+ hours, and many uses of Focus Band!! The computer, however, recently pulled off two Focus Bands in a row (in the Battle Tower, nonetheless), and continues to constantly pull them off.
Similarly, I believe the AI has something to do with what's going on with Duzell. I have never noticed Duzell's "problem," if you can call it that, but I have definitely experienced what happened to SA almost every time I breed: the fact that the Pokémon come in waves.

this kind of thing happened to me, earlier today. I had a koffing and a slugma in the daycare just to get xp, I didn't even know they were different genders. So I was riding all along between Mauville and verderdauf, and the other routes going out of mauville a little, and I got an egg.
I took the egg, and after ridding a bit more I got another one, which seemed much too soon, like u said. So, I checked with the guy, and he said they didn't really like each other, kinda weird...
I found this path that takes u on a strait line from route 117 through mauville to route 118, which goes right past the day-care. I just kept going back and forth on that, and kept gettting eggs, and in like 15-20 min, got 6 eggs!!! (Koffing and slugma were very busy, lol) I had to stop because of dinner, though, so It might have gone on forever.
I belive it is in the number of steps u take, because I only entered route 111 for the first two or three eggs. BTW, did u go all the way up 111, through the dessert, or did u just go up to the rocks that need rock smash to get through?
